The last part of the walk is a bit unhandy and then we were unpleasantly surprised by the 6 EUR fee (kids upto ? years are free). But then we walked through a very well maintained garden/park. We spend around one hour and took a lot of pictures (even got some ideas for back home). The villa itself was unimpressive for me, but it did not matter because of the stunning surroundings.

You can visit all day for 6.5 euros and have your hand stamped if you want to return. The plants and views are stunning. Favourite part was the beautiful pond with pink lilies surrounded by various coloured acers. The red and lime green acers were a stunning combination. A shame the toilets are not better, very smelly with men's urinal in the unisex toilet. Would have been nice to have a cafe on site too. Do go and visit, please don't let these couple things put you off. We spent hours there looking around and reading in the shade!

We really enjoyed the garden but many of the flowers had finished and there was quite a lot if pruning needed so it wasn't at it's best and yet was still a lovely tranquil place. The views of the lake alone are worth the visit. It would be nice if the villa itself were open for viewing too. Quite cheap and lovely for a few hours of strolling.

The gardens are amazing - so many different plants and flowers amazingly cared for. Many Roman/Greek-inspired statues, a little private chapel, and many benches - the perfect spot for a picnic, a good book and just to look at the lake.
It's a welcome break after the rush of the boat/town center, where many tourists seem to be running around like headless chickens with street vendors and guides everywhere.
Wheelchair and buggy users beware though - with a lot of pushing you can go around the garden (the view from the top part is really nice), but it's really not confortable.
You pay eur6.50 for a day ticket - make sure you have it stamped when you go out, so you can come back in later on. There's a café on the far side of the gardens, just outside the villa gates, which looks quieter and overlooks the lake.

My wife took some great pictures here. You also get some great lake views from certain areas. The grounds are very well manicured and maintained. There are some areas where hill climbing is involved but just as many flat areas to enjoy as well. Definitely worth a visit.
