“Excellent Location and Lake Views”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2011

Bellagio is a small town with limited hotels -- most are rated 3-stars and only Grand Villa Serbelloni is rated 5-stars -- so every hotel room with a lake view books quickly!

Hotel du Lac is located on the main lakeside street in Bellagio across from the Ferry Dock -- so it's convenient to book boat tours to villas and gardens -- and the rooftop deck has gorgeous lake views. The hotel also owns The Bellagio Sporting Club with a pool & cafe nearby for extra relaxation.

It was lovely to wake up to gorgeous lake views every morning. Breakfast on an enclosed terrace on the second floor was included in room rate -- a buffet with ample choices! -- and it was a fun to watch the ferries crossing the lake.

Hotel room was large and comfortable -- large closet with safe was a plus -- but the decor was an odd collection of furnishings. Modern bed and dresser paired with traditional upholstered chair and tole lighting fixtures.

Front desk staff was friendly, courteous, and extremely helpful: they deciphered the ferry timetable for us, recommended restaurants and made dinner reservations, and helped us catch the bus back to Como for our train to Milano.

Overall, we had a fabulous time in Bellagio!

Room Tip: Pay extra for a room with French doors!

The location is perfect to experience the lake country for the first time. The ferry terminal is right in front of the hotel. There are restaurants and shops everywhere. Staff could not be more helpful...very fluent in English, but they will cooperate with your faulty Italian if you want to try. The view from the 6th floor sundeck is outstanding. Most rooms have a balcony on the side streets with some view of the lake and alps. The beds are comfortable, with good linens and softer than usual for a European three star hotel, a good thing. The rooms were larger than average, well lit, very clean, and with full baths. There was the usual hand-held shower in a full tub. Wi-Fi is free but is a hassel to get the first time. The restaurant with seating under the colonade is great for watching other tourists while drinking. Go up the hill for better prices and food.

The location of the hotel couldn't be better -- it overlooks the lake and the main ferry terminal is right across the street. There is a patio on the top floor with lounge chairs to relax and take in the great views.

The staff is very friendly and readily speak English. They offered to pack a "picnic breakfast" for us since we would miss breakfast due to our early morning departure.

The hotel itself is clean with average quality furnishings and fixtures.

My biggest complaint is with the (admittedly free) internet service. It is complex to set up -- you first go online and create an account with their provider; then you need to visit the front desk to "enable" your new account. The internet service itself was frequently down and even when it was operating it only supports sending email via web-based clients (i.e. the service doesn't support SMTP on any of the common ports)

This family run hotel is just across the street from the ferry station and in this regard it could not be more convenient. The service is friendly and efficient. The breakfast is very good and the restaurant under the front entrance arcade has good food and drink. A great place to people watch and soak in the Bellagio atmosphere. The hotel has free wi-fi; the room was big enough, and everything worked as it should. It is good value given all its pluses.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with direct view of the lake

It is in a perfect location, very clean and comfortable. Good restaurant with 10% discount for hotel guests.
Very helpful and friendly stuff, especially Aurora at the reception. She helped to plan our boat trips for 2 days which would be very difficult without her help.
We had a wonderful stay there.

Good price (150 Euro) and helpful service. We were walk-ins and were treated very well. We would definitely stay here again. INternet was free and the location can't be beat.

As I normally only stay 4 or 5 star I was a bit dubvious of staying here, but was pleasantly surprised. The rooms are very basic but most importantly they are clean. We didn't eat at the hotel restaurant as it seemed to be more of a cafe atmosphere, however we had plenty of fab cocktails. There was a good choice of food for breakfast and very very strong coffee! The staff were very friendly without going overboard. The best thing about his hotel is it is in the middle of everything, The ferry terminal is outside, and it has a great view of the lake, with bars and restaurants within a minutes walk. The roof terrace is a bonus too, if you get tired of walking round everywhere and just feel like a chill out.

Room Tip: Ask for a room 4th or 5th floor.
