“Quirky but fabulous”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

We stayed for five nights in a large corner room with balcony...note, the balconies are small so if you want a large space to sit out on you will need to request the rooms with a terrace. We loved it....the views are incredible and location is fantastic. Agree with other reviewers re the lack of a shower curtain being frustrating as was the complete lack of hooks to hang towels up on in our room. My only other complaint was the lack of glasses - we were only provided with a number of disposable plastic cups. Apart from that, the staff are great and the hotel is fantastically quirky with lots of little nooks and crannies to sit and read a book in.

My wife and I have recently returned from a four night stay In Hotel Florence. We were in room 53 on the top floor with a fabulous view. The staff, especially those on reception, were extremely friendly and very helpful regarding places to visit, how to get there and use of the lake boats. The breakfasts were really good with plenty of options. Like other reviewers, the only downside for us was the lack of shower curtain which meant we tended to take baths rather than end up with the bathroom floor flooded. We never got round to trying the restaurant mainly due to Bellagio having a number of lovely places to eat. Some day we hope to return to both Bellagio and Hotel Florence.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view

This is a cute little hotel with extremely friendly and helpful people. We booked a lake view room and we had an excellent lake view but just that the window was small. You will have to request a balcony if you want to sit out. One reminder to all the guests is that they have a spa room and also massage service. However, the spa room is only open on request and masseuse is freelance. If you want to use the spa, you will have to book at least 2 hours prior for them to heat up the room and you will have to book massage service at least a day ahead. I didn't know about the spa room and, due to a dinner plan, I didn't have enough time to wait for the spa room to be heated up. The hotel is right by the waterfront and right at the pier of all passenger ferry and one minute walk from the vehicle and passenger ferry. The only down side of the hotel is that the bathtub did not have a shower curtain. This made it very difficult to take a shower without worrying about splashing water all over the place.

We loved this hotel and the wonderful staff that hosted us. We enjoyed our suite (rm #1) with a claw foot tub and the breath taking views of the lake and the sunset from our balcony. Paula was the perfect hostess giving us great recommendations of places to go and not to miss sites. Georgia, the breakfast hostess, was such a joy and was wonderful to talk to. We had dinner at the restaurant and the menu was absolutely fabulous.

Room Tip: Easy walk from boat launch to hotel - no stairs

We stayed in room #3 which was a suite with a huge shared terrace with breathtaking views. You must get room 2, 3, 4 or 5 if you want a balcony/terrace that is worth the extra money....and it is worth the extra money. Rooms 2&3 share a terrace and 4&5 also. When sending pictures back home, my family thought the terrace was for the entire hotel--that's how big it is. The staff (especially Timmy who is part owner) was fabulous. Highly Recommend!

The only downside is the handheld shower with no shower curtain, the bath products and hair dryer. We spent 2 weeks in Italy and this is the only hotel where you would want to bring your own shampoo, conditioner and hair dryer.

We stayed at Hotel Florence with two other couples at the end of April for four nights after an exhausting search for the perfect hotel. My husband and I stayed in Room 4, and one of the other couples stayed next door. The four of us shared a spacious terrance where all six of us gathered for wine and hors d'oeuvres in the evening. We had a lovely view of the lake from our room. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially with the ferry schedules. The hotel was beautifully decorated and had a comfortable common room, outside of the breakfast room, where the six of us could meet and visit. The wi-fi was easy to use. The only challenge was figuring out how to shower without wetting the entire bathroom, but I soon got the hang of it. (The shower was the only reason I gave the room a rating of 4 out of 5.) We would definitely stay there again and will recommend it to friends.

Room Tip: Definitely worth the extra charge to stay in a room with a view.

Just stayed at the Hotel Florence in Bellagio at Lake Como. The rooms were very spacious and overlooking the lake. Directly across the street is the lake and 25 yards to the left is the main ferry dock. The hotel personnel spoke perfect English and were very helpful
