My wife and 2 friends from Australia stayed here for up to a week recently . Excellent situation with a great selection of shops and restaurants within a few hundred meters.Accomodation was an apt.with double bed and kitchen diner suitably equipped with refrigerator kettle and all the usual utensils should you wish to cook in. The room was attractively furnished with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Our room on the first floor had a view, though partially obstructed by surrounding buildings ,not unexpected, view of the lake. Our friends apartment on the top floor, also at the rear of the residence, had a clearer view which could be admired from their terrace complete with table and chairs. Nice and quiet at the rear disturbed only by the local church bell occasionally chiming in the morning. La Limoners proved to be an excellent choice and one which we would happily return to and recommend to friends and all who require a well situated base for exploring and enjoying Bellagio

We had apartment 31, and it's probably the best, with a long balcony along the lake facing side of the building - beautiful views from your lounger. It was smart and stylish, though faintly under furnished. It could do with a desk next to the network point to save having your laptop on your lap. The kitchenette was fully equipped with electric hob, fridge and microwave. A very comfortable place to spend a few days in beautiful Bellagio.

Getting there.... Best not to bring a car, though the residence does have some spaces outside. Bellagio just isn't a car town. From the ferry, you can either walk more or less straight ahead and up the steep stepped alley marked “Hotel Bellagio” and La Limonera is at the top, or turn left and follow the road round in a right hand climbing turn past the church to end up at the same place. Much easier with roller cases.

Food.... hmmm. Bellagio must have at least twenty restaurants, but they're all expensive - and much worse, all serve the same thing. I do like Italian food, but days and days of ham and cheese - and bread, and tomatoes - sent me and my family a little mad. They dress it up in pizzas and paninis and calzones, but.... at La Limonera, of course, one can feed oneself. There's a deli outside the door, and a fruit and veg shop just down towards the church. Further along on the left there's a mini-market down some steps, but guess what - their cooler cabinet contains ham and cheese and not much else. I'm not much of a fan of the golden arches, but back at Como city, we all fell on Big Macs and fries as if they were gourmet food.

All in all, La Limonera is an excellent place to enjoy Bellagio and it's surroundings - with ham and cheese and ham and cheese and …...

It is a quiet place, greens.
The room is clean, big enough for 4 people. It is not expensive. It's the perfect place, just to stay and sleep, close to the Gelateria , close to the ferry .
If you get in range when there's no one at the reception, you can fine your room key in an envelope attached to the door, that was nice .

Room Tip: the room 28

We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment with our family of 5. Lovely clean apartment set in the heart of Bellagio. Did not have any trouble getting to our accomodation walking from the ferry. You can avoid the steep cobblestone path by walking a longer route a long the road past the ferry terminal. Try and get a lake view if you book early enough. It is set in a beautiful garden with a lovely grassed area for the children to play. Everything is very close by. Deli, bakery and restaurants just outside the main gates. Very easy access to the ferry. Our boys loved travelling by ferry, visiting the castle ruins in Varenna, and enjoyed some of the history of the many villas in the region. Favourites were Villa Carlotta and Villa del Balbianello where star wars was filmed. They also enjoyed swimming in the lake. At menaggio there is a beach that you can pay to go to which has lots of water activities for the children.

Room Tip: Book well in advance and request a room with a lake view.

The location is extremely central which is great. We struggled to find somewhere to park and the guy on the front desk was trying to be helpful but seemed to know very little about the parking situation. One of the cons about being so central I guess.
The apartment itself is very clean and spacious, with simple minimalist furnishings. However, trying to find a member of staff on the front desk to speak to was a nightmare. No-one was ever there, so we ended up having to go to another hotel and get info from them instead. There was no-one there when we wanted to check-out either (office completely closed). Luckily they didn't have our passports otherwise we would have missed our ferry. There were other people also trying to check out. In the end everyone just left their keys on a table outside the office and went on their way. The cost of the room was deducted from my card at some point a few days later, but it would have been nice to pay and check out properly.

If you can climb scores (hundreds?) of steps up to this location, this Residence is very pleasant. We stayed in a very large one bedroom apartment - large living & bed rooms, good bathroom and small kitchenette. The setting is lovely. Somehow we failed to get a lake view (try to arrange that.) Bellagio is gorgeous and the owner gave us an excellent walking tour brochure (we highly recommend doing the walk).

Our studio was a lovely spacious, clean comfortable apartment, full of character with a view of Lake Como...just! Between 2 houses! It is right in the heart of Bellagio, although you have to walk up many cobbled steps to get to it! It therefore wouldn't suit anyone with mobility problems or very heavy suitcases!

Although it is a lovely place to stay, the downsides are 2 single beds pushed together in the bedroom and a lot of noise from the residential neighbours.

The apartment was conveniently placed for the shops. There was a lovely bakery just outside the apartment and just down the road (to the right), was another selling freshly baked croissants. A supermarket and a cafe were also very close by.

Room Tip: Lake view rooms available
