“Beautiful Setting”
Reviewed 23 August 2013

We stayed at the Belvedere in June this year, the hotel is in a beautiful
setting overlooking Lake Como. The service is excellent and the rooms are well appointed , clean & spacious. Ours had two balcony's, one overlooking the road and park, the other a side view of the lake, it was quiet as the road was not very busy. The food & service in the restaurant both at breakfast & dinner was excellent.
The only criticism would be the price of drinks from the bar (the saying is 'if you have to ask the price you can't afford it') however there was never a menu or price list to be seen and I thought that 8 euros for a small local beer was over the top. Serving it with copious amounts of snacks, which are not offered as an option, is not needed and the waste must be enormous, which probably results in the price
Having said we would stay there again as overall the hotel is excellent

Stay here for one night for my birthday in September 2012 and loved every minute of it. The main village area of shops, etc., was in very close walking distance. Hotel room was average - I expected a little more luxury for the price we paid, but you can't beat the views from the pool. Note it's not close to the water shore, so getting to the ferry requires car service. Breakfast was great as well.

Very clean and beautiful hotel. Up to standards in almost every way. Upkeep well done. Pool & jaccusi wonderful! Personnel professional but needs to smile more. Had apartment 173. No hair dryer in a top notch hotel?! Restaurant was a deception. Great view of lake!

Stayed 4 nights late July early August.

While the rooms are relatively standard for what you pay, the views in the morning are just brilliant and the location is close to perfect; close enough to the action within Bellagio and to get to the ferries but just the right distance to be away from it. This allows the hotel to be the perfect base if you want to explore Lake Como or just laze on the property by the pool.

Staff are professional with the right balance of friendliness (especially Oscar the pool gentleman). In conversation with locals in Bellagio, Belvedere staff are treated very well and loyal; which was great to hear. The presence of hotel owners was also good to see, but one of them made it obvious that she would have preferred the children not to be around for her afternoon swim.

Breakfast buffet is the best we have had in months of travelling through Italy, catering to the many American, British and north Europeans.

Room Tip: Pay the extra (i recall euro 20 per night) for the lake view room - it is absolutely worth it.

Thanks to the Hotel Belvedere, our 5 day stay in Bellagio was absolutely enjoyable.

Before our trip, I mentioned to someone that my wife and I were staying 5 days in a Bellagio hotel. This person, who had visited Lake Como last year, remarked that we will certainly know every inch of Bellagio and the surrounding villages. I began to worry that 5 days were too many.

Fortunately, 5 days were fine , because we stayed at the Belvedere.

This Hotel sits atop a hill facing down upon Lake Como at what may be its most narrow section. The mountain across the lake seems close enough to touch from your balcony .

The location is a mere five minute walk to the winding , cobblestone streets of busy downtown Bellagio. However, you feel as if you are in a secluded, exclusive resort while swimming, sun bathing or dining here.

The star of the hotel is clearly the huge swimming pool and Jacuzzi surrounded by the beautifully manicured lawn. As you lie on your beach chair, the view is priceless: Cypress trees dotting the rolling green hills, sail boats float by in the lake below. sun glissening on mountain tops.

The restaurant in doors and out is excellent, especially if on a diet, due to small portions. Breakfast buffet is average: scrambled eggs, ham, bacon, cheeses and fruits.

If you combine two days at The Hotel Belvedere pool/sun with a visit to the nearby village of Varrena, a tour of Villa Serbelloni , and a kayak or motor boat rental, you will easily spend 5 days at this Bellagio Hotel. However, make certain to reserve a room with balcony facing Lake Como.

Room Tip: Best room is 402 ( biggest balcony)

We returned to Lake Como after 26 years and was pleased to see that it had not been overdeveloped and that even in the height of summer it doesn't get overcrowded . The Belvedere Hotel is a wonderful base to explore the surrounding area in particular the beautiful gardens of the grand villas . This family owned hotel has been going since 1880 so they know how to run a hotel catering for international clients .All the staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble . We stayed in a junior suite (room 102) which was not as quiet as we had been led to believe due to side road noise but as soon as we mentioned this the manager (Laura) moved us to an equally lovely quiet room below the library . The half board food was good but not outstanding and having tried the a la carte menu would suggest this in future. The facilities are great and the views from the terrace, swimming pool, rooms are breathtaking. Beware the hotel lift can be a little slow but this should not put you off what is a first class hotel in a wonderful location . Thanks again to Laura , Oscar and all the lovely people who made our return trip to Lake Como a holiday to recommend.

Hotel Belvedere scores for outstanding in every category. The staff is extraordinarily helpful, attentive and engaging. We especially call out for high praise Hotel Manager Laura Molinari, Oscar -- waiter exemplar, and Chiara and Federica -- so helpful and knowledgeable at Reception. The location is perfect for access to the town, ferries and wonderful walks in every direction. The views are spectacular -- especially the view from the restaurant. We stayed in one of the hotel's apartments, featuring an excellent view, value and beautifully outfitted. Dinners in the restaurant were excellent and accommodated both meat and vegetarian tastes. We thoroughly enjoyed Hotel Belvedere and give it highest recommendations.
