“Heaven on earth”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 October 2009

All what I can say : it's heaven on earth, it's worth the money, the view from our suit was fabulous and breathtaking. I booked the deluxe room with balcony over looking the lake and they upgrade us to a suit which have 3 balcony 2 on the lake and 1 on both lake and their beautiful garden. They are not working the AC in that time of the year I complained at first because we had to open the balconies and we were afraid of the bugs but later on we forgot everything because of the fabulous view. The suit was a little bit old, I think most of the hotels there is the same and I think the suit wasn't cleaned for a while because there was some dirts on the balconies, I believe they are not opening it so much. when you reach Bellagio by fairy u have to call them to arrange someone to pick u up from there.

Bellagio has one of the most beautiful water & mountain views we have experienced in Italy, and the Hotel Belvedere sits on an ideal location. From the poolside terrace, dining room, and certain guest rooms, you have THE picture postcard view of the lake with mountains in the background. Front desk staff were helpful with transport directions and always pleasant and professional when we stopped to ask questions or retrieve our key. Nearby free parking was nice and the excellent breakfast buffet offered a full range of choices.

However, our guest room was dated and overpriced. You're definitely paying a premium for the view. We had a comfortable stay but don't expect luxury. Although the room was spacious, it was last updated around 1982. Although functional, the beige floral bathroom and plain wooden furniture throughout the room gave it an overall dated feeling. Dinner was quite overpriced for only average food, but that seems typical for a hotel restaurant. We had dinner one night and sought a local cafe in the town of Bellagio just 5-10 min. walk away for our second night.

Next time, we'll choose a cheaper B&B in the same town. A nice stay, but overall too expensive for what we received. Might recommend to others, but with the caveats mentioned above.

We arrived at the Belvedere by car ferry from Mennagio and were fortunate enough to find a parking place outside the hotel and were given a parking permit for our stay. The staff were very welcoming. We paid 578 euros for 2 nights bed and breakfast in a lake view room. The view was great especially as the weather was so good and we had a balcony overlooking the lake and swimming pool terrace. Our room however was small and quite sparce. The shower room was tiny with no room to manoeuvre at all. The shower (no bath) was efficient but had a plastic shower curtain and the water went all over the tiny floor area. The large towels hung on a rail over the toilet due to the lack of space. Our TV was a tiny portable but did offer BBC 1 which was handy for the news. The minibar was expensive with a 250ml bottle of wine costing 6.50 euros. Breakfast was good with a wide selection of hot and cold food but the coffe was sludgy aand chicory tasting. We didn't eat there for dinner as was so expensive but walked into the main area about 5-10 mins away and found 2 nice restaurants for our 2 evenings. The pool was lovely, well maintained and heated so even at the end of September it wasgreat to swim in and has a lovely terrace overlooking the lake. The lake view rooms do face east so don't get the evening sun. Bellagio is very pretty but very expensive with many designer shops, lots of American visitors and lots of traffic going up and down the narrow cobbled streets. You can see the whole town in a few hours and we would recommend staying elsewhere (eg Menaggio) and catching one of the frequent ferries that serve Bellagio - you will easily save the ferry fare and more by not staying there- you also get the best view of Bellagio arriving by ferry rather than by road.

We have been coming to Lake Como for over 20 yearsand in our opinion the Belvedere is one of the finest hotels on the Lake. The hotel is family run and has exceptionally helpful and friendly staff. Great attention has been paid to every detail by the owner and her staff. The personality of the owner is reflected throughout the hotel. Perfectionists in every detail. The views across the Lake are absolutely outstanding and the beautiful terraced gardens are an oasis of calm. Even after 20 years we are still overwhelmed by the unbelievable atmosphere and the views from the bedrooms, the gardens and the restaurant. They are a WOW factor. The lake and the mountains provide the most beautiful backdrop to meals taken on the terrace and the restaurant. The rooms are very comfortable and beautifully appointed with typical Italian furniture and the bathrooms are of a good size. The hotel is immaculately maintained throughout and exceptionally clean. There is an unbelievable choice for breakfast with everything you could think of, from fresh fruit to hot dishes. There is a good choice for the evening meal, which was cooked to perfection and served with genuine enthusiasm. I have special dietary requirements (coeliac disease) and the staff made a special effort to discuss the menu in detail each evening and offered an alternative where necessary with no hesitation. The swimming pool is a special delight, modern and very clean, and with every amenity. Sitting in the jacuzzi whilst overlooking the mountains and the lake is an experience not to be missed. The Hotel is just a short 5 minute walk to the town of Bellagio which makes it the most perfect, idyllic setting for a hotel. Every time we visit we say to ourselves " ..this is the best hotel in the world !! " We would highly recommend the Belvedere to anyone and everyone.

My husband and I stayed at the Belvedere Hotel for one night while on a tour around Italy. We had not booked and came across the Hotel while driving around Bellagio. Impressive front to the hotel was welcoming and oozed class, so we decided to enquire to the price. As it was very busy and we had not booked (we never do) we took the last room, which was an apartment located in a old building next to the hotel. The hotel recpetion staff were very helpful and showed us to the apartment. We had a shared entrance door and was welcomed by a sweeping staircase to the door to our apartment.
We really were not expecting the room we were presented with! It was amazing. We had a sittingroom with sofas, tv and window overlooking the lake. This lead into a hige master bedroom with french door and small balcony overlooking the lake, there was another tv, dressing table, and wardrobe and it was all modern, yet done to look authentically italian. There was a brand new bathroom and then a kitchen with dining area and balcony to the rear. It was amazing accomodation and one of the biggest apartments we stayed in on our 18 day tour of Italy, just to mention that is also was the most expensive (and we stayed in Venice and Amalfi coast - which arent cheap!)
The lake view was worth it though!
The hotel is located to the rear of the main town of bellagio, but has the added benefit of being 5 minutes walk away from all the bars and quaint streets and buildings of Bellagio. We also walked directly down from the hotel to a small port area and had a drink in a small hotel overlooking the lake. It was very romantic and ideal for couples to visit!
We spent the evening in Bellagio watching the small car ferries come in and out and generally watching the world go by while we sipped on amazin local wine!
We returned to the hotel after they had finished serving dinner and asked for some food (bread, cheese and tomatoes) we got a couple of plates of tomatoes for which we were charged 24EURO the next day! My one gripe!
Breakfast was fantastic and the best in our entire trip, as it had absolulty everythin on offer, cooked breakfast, cereal, continental, fruit etc... and all served overlooking the beauty of Lake Como. Lovely hotel in an even lovlier location, infact we fell in love with Lake Como so much we came back for a 2nd visit on the way back from our tour of Italy and stayed another night, but this time in the Metropole in Bellagio town (please see my review).
Would totally recommend the apartment and the hotel. The spa and pool looked gorgeous and maybe if we'd had a couple of days we would have been able to enjoy that too!

The staff was very kind, but we were disappointed in what we received for the price. It is a clean hotel and decent location away from the noise of town, but the room was very small and not of the same quality as you would find in the U.S., certainly not at that price. Unfortunately I think for Bellagio that is as good as it gets for the price so given the circumstances I would have to recommend it. Next time I'll try to find a B &B.

I almost changed my reservation due to some of Tripadvisor's reviews, so the hotel surprised me because I cannot think of any complaint about it. It is not a 5 star hotel, mainly because of the lack of space in the reception/common areas) but the rooms are recently refurbished, very clean and very spacious (and we had luggage to spend a month out of home with a baby)
Very nice staff, very helpful with us (we were travelling with a 10 months old baby and they helped by processing the soups for her)
Great pool with a spectacular view.
Spa is small but pleasant.
