“Wonderful stay!”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

Excellent location and pleasantly stylistic establishment. I found it gentile and of an interesting bygone era with modern facilities such as spotless, modern bathroom, air con, adequate TV etc. I stayed for 6 nights and had a delightful, lake facing room from which the views were tremendous, including the passersby below and the arriving/departing ferries. Clean and good bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful. A great bonus is the pool where a few hours of sunning and swimming makes a welcome addition to the splendor of the surroundings. On the downside, the pillows are rock hard, shower on the small side and the continetal breakfast is quite sparse and uninteresting. As usual (it seems) I paid the same price for the room as 2 guests sharing. However, I shall return to this hotel on my next holiday in Bellagio. I had a good time based at the hotel.

Room Tip: Request a lake facing room.

The best part about this hotel is it's location. We were here on May first week for two nights and we absolutely had no trouble finding the hotel in the first place. It is just a 3 minutes walk from the port. This makes it easy for your commute as well in case you wish to take trips to nearby places. Also, it is just another 5 minutes walk to Villa Melzi, one of the attractions in Bellagio you wouldn't want to miss!

The rooms were pretty good for a 3 star hotel. We had booked a lake side room and the view was great from here (Wish there was a balcony though but for this price, I wouldn't worry about that!). We spent most of the time outside travelling and so the room size didn't matter much but they are quite small. Main drawback was that they give only one hot spot account per room and any more than that comes with a price of 3 Euros (That was something new for us and so a little weird!). Breakfast was just OK but could have improved. The staff at the reception was kind.

Considering the location and pricing, I would say this is a pretty great hotel for tourists and you can have a comfortable stay here.

Room Tip: Lake side rooms have a great view

Excellent hotel for the 3star price. Go for lake view rooms which are good. However the rooms are small. There is hotspot here and they only give one user name per room free of charge. If you want to use internet for a second user in your room then you need to pay. This was really strange for a 3 star hotel and when they knew that two would stay in a room.
Breakfast was ok and not that great. They dont change the menu and briosche and cappucino wasnt that great. Location is excellent and right next to the port and bus stand

Great location in one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Lovely little hotel with pleasant rooms, hot showers and if you get a room over looking the lake, well, what more could you ask for. Only down side is the dinning room. Meals are very average and if, like us, enjoy good food, you will want to wander the streets of Bellagio. There you will find great little restaurants. This aside give the Splendide a try.

Room Tip: Over look the lake. You will not want to leave.

We just left Hotel Excelsior Splendide after 3 days and 2 nights of joy and pleasure. Our room was as requested and a bottle of sparkling wine awaited us in our corner room overlooking the lake. We had breakfast at the hotel and evening cocktails at the restaurant...charming. The hotel has an operating lift to help with bags. Bathroom was updated. It is a 3-4 star. Mary was very helpful. Very good value for the money.

I visited with my girlfriend last September.
We took the train from Milan and then the ferry boat from Varenna.
Easy walking distance we had it all: ferry boat dock, shops with silk and leather items, Villa Melzi and aperitivo.
The property is well kept and has his own style (liberty).
Our room was at the first floor with a good view on the lake. Simple but clean. Staff has been always very accommodating and friendly, still very efficient. Great food and drinks forced us to jog some more to compensate but worth it! Good value for money. We will be back!

This hotel is so well located, once you get off the ferry you won't have to even walk more than 400ft. this is right there on the main street where most of the activities take place. Very near to the market, shore and hotels.... 5/5 for the location

we stayed here for 2 nights and the experience was nice. Decent size rooms. Our room was not facing the lake so no view to talk about. The breakfast in the morning was standard but good.

Pricewise, it was slightly above average but not a huge concern. Ask for a room facing lake.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing lake.
