“A perfect place to stay.”

This Hotel has it all! Fantastic location in the centre of town and on the lake, fabulous food and exceptional staff, clean and comfortable. The roof top garden has sun beds and tables and chairs with umbrellas and spectacular views over the lake, a great place to rest and unwind after a day of walking! The snack bar and terrace is on the lake and is the perfect place to watch the sunset over the Alps. The food and drinks are well priced and the staff are energetic and friendly. We ate breakfast and dinner at the Hotel for each of our 3 days. Stay at Metropole, you won't be sorry.

We booked this Hotel after hearing the good reviews on Trip Advisor, and they were correct.
The room was so comfortable and clean, the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great. We had a side room with a patio overlooking the lake. We also loved the roof terrace with a beautiful view of the lake so we were happy. From the Aussie couple from Melbourne

Room Tip: We booked on line and were really happy with the room they gave to us which was a corner suit.

Prime location right on the lakeside adjacent to ferries and convenient to everthing around the town.
The staff are friendly and very helpful, and the public rooms are comfortable, if a little small.
Very good breakfast buffet selection, including fruits, cereals, cold meats/cheese and cooked eggs and bacon.
Most rooms are 'compact', but clean and well equipped with superb lake views to the front.
Comfortable, and a good night's sleep.
No laundry or room service.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view, higher floor.

The hotel is located in a very nice area. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The breakfast was very delicious. We didn't spender much time in the room or in the hotel in general as the location and the sightseeing places in the area were too much for our 3days stay there. But we are very satisfied with the hotel and the quality vs value of the hotel.

My wife and I had a balcony room facing the lake for 4 nights. The ferries came and went right under our balcony, but we didn't really feel that it was a problem with noise. The windows are double-paned, which might have helped.

The staff at the front desk were ALWAYS friendly, every time we had to drop off our room key, only to come back a minute later to pick it up because we forgot something in the room.

My wife is still commenting that the breakfast at the Hotel Metropole had such a great spread that we were always skipping lunch.

The hotel location is great, about a minute's walk to the ferry ticket office, and also right by one of the main streets up the hill to a range of restaurants and shops.

We had a great time staying at the Hotel Metropole.

We are nearing the end of a week stay at the Metropole and think it should be a four star hotel. The weather has not been great but the staff at the Metropole all had such lovely smiles we didn't notice. They are all a credit to the hotel from the housekeeping staff to the head receptionist. The buffet breakfast was lovely with a great selection. We had a small compact room with balcony which was just perfect. We had one meal at the hotel which was lovely as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We will definitely come back to this hotel and would recommend it for good value, great location and friendly staff.

Room Tip: Can recommend room 339

We booked a four day trip with Inghams and stayed in this hotel in May 2013. We had a side view room overlooking the car ferry on the third floor. When we were in our room we opened the full length window , but the double glazing was very good and you could hardly hear a thing from outside with the window closed. The rooms are very nice and a decent size. We picked this hotel for its central location, and there are plenty of bars and restaurants located around this small town. Bellagio has small, narrow cobbled streets and lots of stairs and therefore something to consider if you are not so steady on your feet. On a Saturday and Sunday the town is very busy but was very quiet midweek. A trip on the car ferry across the lake to Caddenabia is 9 euros return per person. This area and Tremmezzo run into one another and it is a nice stroll along the flower lined promenade with eateries and bars along the way. The Victoria Bar is worth a mention, it serves a nice British afternoon tea on the lake side and has newspapers to read. We visited various Villas and Gardens but my favourite has to be Villa Balbianello, not to be missed. Only attempt the walk up the hill to this Villa if you are fairly fit. A little taxi boat will take you round for 10 euros return per person. The fast boat to the town of Como from Bellagio costs 14 euros per person one way. The town of Como is also nice to visit, but don't visit on a Monday if you are looking to shop as most are closed on a Monday. The local bus to Como is 4 euros one way. Our favourite bar was Bar Rossi which is just outside the hotel at the passenger ferries. It is great for people watching, 9 euros for 2 medium beers, cocktails 5 euros each, compared to 12 euros for the beer in the hotel. The restaurant in the hotel cannot be beaten for its location, a little expensive, but guests get a 10% discount of meals. The hotel staff are all extremely friendly and efficient, but I feel a little background music would add to the atmosphere. I had longed to visit Lake Como for many years and I was not disappointed. It is very beautiful, the weather was great, and the locals very friendly.

Room Tip: Side view rooms also have good views.
