“Don't stay anywhere else on lake Como!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2013 via mobile

Booked in for 3 nights which we were lucky enough to turn into four nights. We had room 111 which I think must be the very best room in the hotel. The room was the largest we have had since traveling throughout Europe for 7 weeks. But we booked this room with the terrace balcony because we wanted we larger balcony, and we were not disappointed. It is spectacular & makes you feel like you are the celebrity. Pay the extra & get the room with the larger terrace. It is worth every single cent (and it's not that much more anyway). Staff are superb, restaurant is pretty & breakfast is lovely. STAY HERE!!

We chose Bellagio because of its central location to the Lake Como ferries. We chose this hotel because of its history, its TA reviews, and its location. The view of the lake and mountains, even from a room on the north side, is magnificent. The quay with its trees is charming. And the ferries are quiet. But you're right in the heart of Bellagio on the main piazza. Sunday night, the revelers were out in force till about midnight. Even on weeknights, the noise from the piazza made its way to the third floor.
The decor is nothing special, but because we were staying five nights, we got upgraded to a family room with an extra wing. Breakfast in the lakeside restaurant was very nice. In good weather, I assume they open the doors so you can sit outside, but it was a bit chilly in the mornings when we were there in late May.

We absolutely loved this hotel. No, the rooms are not very big (think standard sized hotel room in a typical U.S. chain hotel) and the bathrooms are pretty small. There are many times where I do pay extra for size but when I booked this room I knew that was not going to be the case at this hotel.

Rather, in this case, I knew I was paying for atmosphere and experience and this hotel has it in spades. You simply cannot have a more relaxing experience than opening the french doors to the lake facing balcony and then sitting outside watching the people and the ferrys (not to mention what has to be one of the most beautiful lakes in the world).

The other thing that this hotel has is an outstanding staff. EVERY staff member that we met went out of their way to be helpful and friendly and that served to make our visit even more memorable.

Finally, we felt the price we paid for the room was more than reasonable for what we got and the rooms were very clean and attractive. If we were ever to return to Lake Como, we would definitely stay here again.

If considering a trip to Lake Como, Bellagio is your ideal location - central to all the region and connected to most towns of interest by ferry. If desiring AFFORDABLE, quality hotel accommodations, Metropole is the best option. This European three-star hotel is ON THE LAKE. It is a modest, historical structure updated with most contemporary amenities. Perhaps its strongest attribute is the QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE provided by the staff, all fluent in English, at the reception desk. A hidden asset of this hotel is its DISNEY-trained attendant, Jasmine. A native of Bellagio, she easily answered the most challenging questions such as, please rank and prioritize Lake Como's villa gardens and Bellagio's local restaurants. The desk staff made our Bellagio visit memorable. Also, after visiting the towns best wine shop (literally 30 steps from the Metropole) spend your sunsets with your sweetheart on the roof of the hotel - fantastic views of the lake and distant Alps. At some future date, we intend to return!

Perfect position in Bellagio right on the water. The rooms are small but adequate, but the internet reception very bad.Make sure that you book a lake view room.
The breakfast was good catering for everybody, eggs, bacon, fruit salad, breads and quite a bit more.

The hotel was exactly as described, and as requested we were given a lake facing room. The room itself was of average size, with a nice size bathroom, decent tv choice,a comfortable bed and a small balcony. The view from the balcony was breathtaking and really made our time at the hotel extra special. The location of the hotel is fantastic, close to the bus stop, ferry port, and all the shops and restaurants. The roof terrace is great for relaxing and was quiet during the week we spent at the hotel (end of May). The staff couldn't be mire helpful, breakfast was good, with a good choice and the hotel restaurants food, staff and location is/are superb, if a little overpriced. Only negative for us was the noise coming from other rooms due to thin walls and echoey rooms...or perhaps loud neighbours!! All in all, would heartily recommend

The hotel is superbly situated, on the water, views from all rooms. Ours has the ferry and street action, three wheeler motor cycles, Ferraris, people of the world. Como is 50 minutes away, our Capuccino stand 2 minutes away, everything close and convenient.

Room Tip: They are all good, water frontage is superior.
