The hotel is in the best location - right on the lake and the views are stunning. The staff are excellent and the hotel is spotless. Great variety at breakfast and had a good meal when we ate there one evening. The room we had wasn't large but absolutely fine and had a lovely view. It was quiet and rooms were cool.

We stayed at the Metropole for our honeymoon, so it could be easy to get carried away here. However this hotel IS a very good hotel. The glitches? The sometimes tempremental hot water in the shower on the 4th floor? It will come eventually. The small shower enclosure, where I kept knocking the shower settings with my back? That's about all really; the rest is all very good. The room was quite compact, but exceptionally well kept. The bathroom was clean and roomy. The decor is simple but pleasing. there was a mini fridge in the room stocked with a selection of resonably priced drinks. We had room 451, which is central on the top floor and facing the lake. The view is simply stunning and it was great to while away a few hours on the balcony. The room was cleaned daily, the bed made up, towels exchanged and toiletries restocked. The roof top terrace is a great feature, but I wish there was some way of ordering drinks from up there. The reception area is open and modern. The staff were all very pleasant and eager to serve. They were also informative about the area and facilities and helped us to arrange some of our trips, or the hiring of boats, which they had delivered to the hotel dock for us. The ferries depart from right outside the hotel, so there can be noise from those and sometimes late night revellers. However we did choose to sleep with our balcony doors open every night, when we could have closed them to keep out any noise and activated the excellent air conditioning in the room. This is a very good hotel and we will treasure our memories of staying here. Thank you to all of the staff!

Room Tip: Top floor front rooms have the best view. First floor front rooms have a private terrace. Side rooms still give lake views, plus a taste of the town.

We found Bellagio and the whole of Lake Como very commercial. If you have deep pockets and unlimited space in your closets and shelves at home..... Go right ahead. We tired of this after 2 days. This hotel tried to make your stay comfortable while you reached your fill of it.

We have just returned from a 10 night stay at the Hotel Metropole in Bellagio and had a fantastic time. We had a room on the third floor (340) with a balcony and lake view, and whilst the room was a little on the small side, the view more than made up for it! As other people have mentioned it was a joy to sit on the balcony with a glass of wine and watch the world go by. We visited all the local towns and can say that Bellagio was by far our favourite, and the Metropole has by far the best location being right on the lakeside. Finally a word about the staff who were all very friendly and extremely helpful, from printing off boarding cards for our return flight to providing an ice bag for a swollen knee and broken toe. We have been left with fantastic memories.

Room Tip: Go for a lake view and balcony

We drove down from Verona in our hire car (an interesting experience in itself!) and stayed 5 nights at the hotel along with another Australian couple and could not have been more pleased with what we found. Both couples were allocated 2-bedroom family suites on the 2nd floor (we were in 219/220 overlooking the lake and the car ferry terminal and the other couple were next to us in 215/216 overlooking the passenger ferry terminal and the Piazza). We had great views of the lake and a very spacious room (we used the spare room for our luggage!). The breakfast in the ground floor restaurant overlooking the lake at the front of the hotel was outstanding and we had two great evening meals there as well (which also attracted a 10% discount) . The head waiter (Ivan) was extremely helpful and the reception staff were fantastic. The Sun terrace on the fifth floor gave fantastic panoramic views across the lake and was a great place to enjoy a few drinks and soak up the views as the sun set. It is fair to say it is not cheap but you pay for what you get and we highly recommend this hotel for those contemplating a stay around Lake Como.
