“If you are into ferries...”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

You will love this hotel. Car and people ferries back and forth all day long starting at 5:30am and ending just short of midnight basically bookend this property between Pontile 2 and 4. It can get a little monotonous and diesel smelling when the winds blow toward the hotel. If you book a lake view room with a terrace the ferry thing is the only drawback to this wonderful property. I second the other reviews about killer views of the lake. Postcard! Also, staff and breakfast were wonderful, and the bed was very comfortable. The French doors and heavy metal shutters blocked out the whole world, but be careful not to sleep through breakfast as it ends at 10:30. A big shoutout to the gal who manages breakfast - always smiling and happy.

A couple of suggestions for Bellagio: take the fast boat from Como and snap a quick pic of the Star Wars/Casino Royale villa, and Clooney's villa. The slow boat is really really slow. It's still Italy with all of the in your face reality, not Lake Lucerne. Bellagio is a beautiful tourist trap, and so is Varenna, but I'd rather be trapped in Varenna. The La Fontana in Bellagio was a relative great value (see pic of three table line up of 'well-heeled' Americans). Hope to be back someday.

Just spent 11 days at this lovely hotel, no negatives whatever all the staff were friendly and efficient, the rooms and other arrears were spotless, very good choice for breakfast taken on the outside terrace while enjoying the fantastic views. Many thanks to everyone at The Metropole.

Incredibly good hotel being 3 stars. Nice, romantic room, good size. On top of that, every member of the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We loved the lady at the breakfast room. What a yummy breakfast it was too!

Our room was a triple, but it seems it would have accommodated 4 persons as there was an additional bed under the single bed. Our triple room was L-shaped, open plan, but they seemed to have some triple rooms with a door you could close in between. All rooms have either balcony or a French window.

I can imagine it will get a bit noisy at nights during peak season, but what can you expect, being in the heart of the village.

Room Tip: Our room was a triple, but it seems it would have accommodated 4 persons as there was an additional...

We had a room with outside lakefront terrace on Lake Como with a million dollar view. The room was clean and quite large by European hotel standards. The staff were very friendly and accomodating. We had an early train from Varenna on our check-out morning and they arranged an early breakfast for us. The regular buffet breakfast was also outstanding. Our traveling companions stayed at the Villa Serbolinni, but they thought we had a better room.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the start of our honeymoon and really loved it. It's real selling point is the view. You can't get much better than this as it's the only hotel on the main stretch to be directly on the water (no pathways / roads in between). The room we stayed in was spacious enough and nicely furnished. There was a small balcony for you to enjoy the view and a lovely rooftop terrace (make sure you make it up here for a panoramic view over the lake). Lovely breakfast and polite service. It was expensive but everything in Bellagio is. Would stay there again.

Room Tip: Top level was great

wonderful boutique type hotel with small lobby, but excellent service with an excellent breakfast buffet including freshly cooked eggs, cakes, cheese, meats etc. location is perfect within short walk to both ferry locations. we had a room facing the lake with small terrace but what a way to wake up in the morning with such stunning views. only negative is that rooms are quite small, shower tiny but when visiting como, you wouldn't want to waste your day in the room.

Room Tip: though the food at the breakfast buffet is excellent, we made the mistake of eating dinner at the ho...

I absolutely love this place! From my check-in to check-out, I had all positive experiences. The staff are all so friendly and speak English perfectly. My room was immaculate and cleaned thoroughly everyday. The breakfast was fantastic! even had bacon and scrambled eggs. And the location can not be beat. A very short walk from either ferry landing and right on the water! I will not hesitate to stay here again next April.
