Beautiful property, near everything, with spectacular views.
Bellagio is by far, the best in the area. All the restaurants and shops and overall beauty make this an incredible destination.
Get the lakefront room. The balcony is so relaxing and the views are outstanding.
A very professional and helpful staff. My thanks to all of you.

We had a lake-view room on the top floor with a magnificent view of the lake where we could watch all the changing views including sunsets... The staff was very friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast, again lake-view, and also had a good lunch and dinner in the hotel restaurant. I loved the quiet roof-top "garden" with comfortable lounges for relaxing and enjoying the sun.

As everyone has mentioned, the location is great - right in the middle of everything. The night we had dinner in the restaurant, we were entertained by a pair of swans with 5 little baby swans swimming around in front of the hotel.

We spent 3 nights at Hotel Metropole and I cannot speak more highly of the hotel. It is an excellent hotel in a wonderful location with the most amazing views. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was on a high floor with spectacular views over the lake and mountains. Tip: Worth paying the extra for the front lake view rooms. The room was quiet at night especially with the balcony doors closed. Our room was medium in size, tastefully furnished and spotlessly clean; we were fortunate to have a very large shower and a roomy bathroom all nicely tiled and also spotlessly clean. The bed was a little hard but nothing unbearable. Breakfast was a wide ranging buffet which was great. The hotel itself is in an excellent position right next to the ferry terminals; on the water edge and in the center of the old town. Parking was no problem but it was in the street right next to the hotel and we paid $18 euro for the day. We left our car parked there the whole time that we stayed at the hotel and felt safe in doing so. It is a bit tricky finding the carpark/hotel if you are driving but the GPS and signs will get you there...once there it is worth it. There is free parking nearby but they seemed be always taken. There are plenty of great restaurants nearby to eat. We had a wonderful time in a lovely hotel in beautiful Bellagio; Thankyou.

Room tip: Definitely spend the extra for the front lake view room.

First of all, I've come to believe that Bellagio is the best holiday centre in which to base oneself when holidaying around Lake Como. It is a classy large village/small town, with an excellent range of good accommodation, both serviced and self-catering, and a fine selection of good restaurants, shops, delicatessens, mini-markets and the like. Within walking distance one also has the spectacular Melzi Gardens to visit, along with the neighbouring hamlets such as Pescallo, Loppia and San Giovanni. Bellagio itself is also well-situated for excursions to and explorations of the many other interesting places on both sides of the lake.

Hotel Metropole is situated nicely right on the lake itself, their wide-ranging buffet breakfasts are good, and their restaurant and bar offer very good food. However, what stood out the most for us were the many members of staff we encountered. At Reception, everyone was friendly, efficient and helpful. In the dining room, all who waited on us were very pleasant. A special mention to Svetlana (Lucia), however, who looked after us so very well every morning at breakfast time in the dining room. Also, those who were servicing the rooms were always most pleasant, greeting us with "Buongiorno" when seeing us in passing.

Our bedroom was fairly ordinary overall, but certainly adequate, and was well-equipped with television, tea/coffee-making facilities, a most welcome refrigerator, telephone, toiletries and a nice side view of the lake. Plus, it had controllable air conditioning, which we were pleased to have available on some of the warmer days. We had chosen Hotel Metropole with a standard room selection via a tour operator, as transportation from Malpensa Airport and back would otherwise have been a lengthy and most likely exhausting enterprise. Being of a senior age, that does make a difference.

If one wishes one of their "superior" rooms, it might be worth it to book one of those, as we saw one for ourselves. The room was of good size, had beautiful wooden flooring and had a large terrace facing the lake. In addition to having wonderful views, I would imagine that these rooms are their most quiet ones. As one might expect, the cost of these rooms is considerably more than that of their standard rooms, but that is not surprising. The choice is up to you based on your financial circumstances and your priorities.

Room tip: As mentioned in the narrative, I would suggest choosing one of their superior rooms if you find the rates affordable.
