Hotel Bellagio is conveniently located directly in front of the vaporetto linking Cadenabbia, Varenna and Menaggio. The locale is extremely clean and within easy access all restaurants, free city parking and shops. My wife and I would stay here again in a heartbeat and would recommend it highly to all quality and value seeking travelers. It should easily be a 3 1/2 star rated hotel. Don't hesitate to book it. We are very picky with our choices ,especially the cleanliness aspect.

Room Tip: Ask for a lake view room. Well worth the extra few bucks.

After having browsed their website and reading some reviews, we were sure Hotel Bellagio would live up to it's legendary name, even though it is only a two star hotel. Our disappointment was huge when we were taken to our tiny double room that promised a partial view of the lake.

Partial view of the lake actually meant that we were situated on the first floor with our windows facing nearby buildings and hotels. The view consisted mostly of nearby nesting pidgeons, which of course is also intriguing. We did see parts of the lake and of course the majestic mountains were a gorgeous backdrop. But hey, you're in Bellagio at lake Como, you're bound to find nicer locations if it's just the view you want to take in.

Breakfast was extremely plain, not a hint of luxury or anything extra. We're in Italy, some cheese or ham would have been nice. Fresh fruit were a nice addition and service at breakfast was always warm.

All in all Hotel Bellagio was a clean, basic hotel. Worth the money? Definitely not. But then again Bellagio is an expensive location. Would we stay here again? Never. No value for money, the double room in the first floor was so small you could barely fit two people in. Calling the hotel a boutique design hotel is funny, although the rooms did have a few "designer" lamps. The overall feeling was definitely not boutique. The gym was a small room in the basement with a tread mill and a few other contraptions. The wi-fi didn't work properly during most of our three day stay.

You would expect a lot more from a hotel named after the gorgeous location.

Room Tip: Do not stay on the first floor with partial view of the lake. It's a sham, you mostly see untidy...

We came here for our honeymoon which I emailed the hotel prior to advise so we could reserve a lake view room which they did at a price, I mentioned several times before arrival it was our honeymoon we knew it was only a 2* but the views sold it for us.
When we arrived, it was as expected, I dont feel they over sell themselves it literally is what it says, the rooms were fresh and clean and a fair size, the breakfast was ok. The views are 'priceless' I was however expecting a token of acknowledgment it was our honeymoon, a note, or card, or bottle of wine would of gone a long way! That was really the only dissapointment.
We also found all the staff very helpful and went out of their way for us on more than one occasion!

Room Tip: Worth paying for a lake view room, views are breathtaking

Breakfast was worse although the guy serving was great and very helpfull.

The Hotel Bellagio has a very fresh modern interior in what appears to be an older building. It is positioned in an elevated location overlooking the harbour; one or two buildings back from the front. Our room was tastefully furnished in a modern rather minimalistic way that we found very attractive. We had a lake facing room with full length french windows (no balcony) offering a stunning view of the lake. The hotel is right in the middle of the town a few minutes’ walk away from the many restaurants, bars and shops. They don’t do evening meals but with so many good restaurants a stroll away this is not an issue. The buffet breakfast served on a very pleasant terrace was more than adequate.
Access to the hotel is via a steepish (stepped) alley way leading up from the harbour front and the nearest you can park a car is adjacent to the bottom entrance of the alley. You therefore need to carry your bags about 50 yards or so up the steps, which we didn’t have a problem with (maybe the hotel would help with this but I am not sure). The hotel has some spaces in an underground car park about 0.5K away, which are available for an extra charge.
For us a lake view was essential and I think to get this you need a room on floor 2 or above. We would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: Make sure you request a lake view for best value in my opinion.

We were very dissapointed, the Room we book and paid extra was not available and the management did nothing about it, the Breankfast terrible. They advertise Parking, none. Besides the view, there is nothing to look forward, there are many more Hotels with the same view.

Stayed: March 2012

I had travelled to the Lake Como District with no place to stay and a store owner in Billagio recommended Hotel Bellagio. What a find!

You must walk up about 15 stairs to get to this hotel however inside the hotel there is an elevator to access all the rooms. The staff members I incountered were very pleasant and helpful for every need I had. I was given room 401 which was clean, bright and had a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. The window filed one wall in this room and actually retracts into the wall below, like a pocket-door, so you get the full view and fresh air of the mountains.

The room includes breakfast, WiFi a TV that does get English stations. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting the Lake area.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view of the mountains, you will not be dissapointed.
