Location of the hotel is great, right amongst all the cafes, restaurants and across the road from the pier, where we got the boat up Lake Como. Room was a reasonable size and pretty clean & tidy inside. There were a few gripes we had though: It was noisy until the cafe's closed at night and there was no air-con but the main thing that totally disappointed us was NO INTERNET FOR OUR ENTIRE 3 DAY STAY. It was very frustrating not being able to check emails and research/plan our trip. In fact this was the only hotel in Europe we stayed at which had no working internet (it was broken down apparently). Oh, the breakfast was pretty decent, and the staff were helpful (and sympathetic!) Apparently the hotel has been through a number of different managers in the past 18 months which is why things aren't going too smoothly.

My husband and I stayed here for 1 night on the spur of the moment -- a day trip that turned into an overnight. The location is perfect for people-watching - steps away from the bustling piazza. The room was a comfortable size, not too tiny, and a very good value. We ate dinner in the piazza that night and had a wonderful time watching all the people and dogs walking by. Best surprise was breakfast the next morning, which included a delicious buffet of breads, meats, cheeses, fruit, and other good stuff.

This small hotel, overlooking Piazza Volta, is in the heart of Como and just a short walk from the Lake. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms beautifully clean, and the breakfast excellent. The dining room staff were, in particular, efficient, friendly and patient. The only problem could be that, in Summer, Como is very popular with tourists, and concerts in the square below the hotel are quite loud and go on until late at night, so if you are at the front of the hotel, sleeping could be a problem! However, if you like live, good and diverse entertainment, Como is the place. No need for a car, everything is within walking distance, although bicycles are very popular and useful. Many of the local shops have English-speaking staff.

Room Tip: try to get a room at the back of the hotel because of the noise from the Piazza, but it isn't a big problem. All the rooms, although on the small side, are clean and excellent value.

This hotel was a huge disappointment. It's in a great location in the heart of Como, and looks out onto a cute little plaza. However, I have never slept on such a horrible bed in my life. Honestly, sleeping on the floor would have been more comfortable. Fire alarm went off at 5am (there was no fire). The hotel over booked and forced my parents out of the hotel, despite them having made a reservation. "Breakfast" was poor. Glass of juice, fruit from a can, and a slice or two of bread and ham. Will not stay again. Try staying at Albergo De Luca while in Como. Great hotel with great staff.

Room Tip: Find a different hotel.

Four of us stayed two nights at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and most helpful. As the hotel is situated one street back from the main road it is very quiet. The rooms are small but are clean and the linen and towels are of good quality. The breakfast which is included in the price is good. It hotel is in an ideal position, as it is 3 minutes walk to the boat ferry station and the old part of the city starts just behind the hotel.
