We had no problem whatsoever getting tickets and the lady spoke enough English to be understood easily. Our guides were in English too, although they were not inspired. For an electrical engineer the place was just heaven; being able to see the very instruments and devices that both Volta and Galvani used at the very beginning of man's understanding of electricity. I read it in the textbooks many years ago: to see it was magnificent

Its a very interesting monument and museum to the man who invented the battery. There are photocopied explanations of the exhibits in English and a very brief summary of Volta's life, the historical background etc. also in English. The explanatory exhibition on the first floor is all in Italian, but the summaries are OK. A great place for an Engineer to visit, but other people should get a lot out of it as well.

Hello city of como? It's year 2014!
No credit card payments, old lady at entrance did not know english and asked me to go and change her money. Once you pay you get one A4 paper in comic sans with text taken from Wikipedia that should guide you around (not). Most lights didn't work and none of computers was working leaving most of the stuff covered in dust. It's a shame because I was really interested and the place and history are stunning. No refunds total ripoff.

Dedicated to the Italian Scientist Alessandro Volta (Volts in the unit named after him) who made significant work towards the battery we have these days and actually invented it as well. The Temple/Museum is small but very peaceful and you can see the equipments he used to make the invention. The nearby area is pleasant to just sit around and relax for a while.

For an interesting change of pace in Como, visit a temple dedicated to the great italian scientist Volta, the inventor of the battery. This museum is also a welcome place to rest and hide from the scorching sun while visiting Como's lakefront. The exhibits are interesting and the temple is small but beautiful.
