“The true Italian cafe experience.”
Reviewed 26 April 2013

This is what I was looking for in my trip to Italy. A true Italian cafe experience. The owner was nice and enjoyed crafting coffee to his clients while chatting with the regulars. The atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming.
And the coffee was wonderful.

“Everything you could want in a street cafe”
Reviewed 18 October 2012 via mobile

Perfect for people-watching, this vibrant little cafe attracts young and old, locals and tourists, regulars and newcomers. Brothers Marco and Danielli are the owners of this busy, friendly bar. It is open all year round (except for two weeks in January) and offers free Wi-Fi.

“Friendly & helpful staff in a lovely little cafe on the piazza.”
Reviewed 11 July 2012

This is a great little cafe bar where you can sit and people watch on the little piazza. Our group of 7 adults relaxed while our 5 children played on the square. Service is very attentive. On our last day our transfer to Malpensa airport was extremely late & the owner helped us out by speaking to the driver in Italian to find out where he was & even tried to find alternative transport for us.

“a little bit modern in a very old town”
Reviewed 12 May 2012

We walked by this cafe which has WIFI every day because it was in the town sqaure and we wanted to be near the water. Then it rained really hard one day and being a city girl I missed being in London because there are no cabs parked just waiting to ferry tourists around in Varenna. We rembered seeing this modern looking cafe so off we went. It has an outside aread which looks very modern with partial glass walls and under roof heaters so it was perfect
to keep us dry in the rainstorm.

Friendly helpful staff, amazing hot chocolate and they turned on the outside heating they even called us a taxi, which we were then able to call a few days later to take us to the station so it all worked out well.

We went back the day after the rainstorm to sample food and cocktails and it was great! Panini's were perfect. We convinced the barman that we needed a "take away" cocktail and he made this is a large Olive jar! Absolutely great place. They have a TV inside where locals were watching football. If you miss city life just a little bit pop in even if you dont miss it still pop in it has a great atmosphere just to sit and relax without overwhelming the senses because the views aren't that great that you want to be taking pictures all the time but it makes you sit and enjoy the town sqaure and thats a bonus because otherwise you just walk through it without appreciating it. They spoke perfect english and so no language barrier in fact most of the restaurant staff in the town spoke very good english.

When I go back to Varenna this will be on my places to revisit.
