This holiday house sits on the waters edge with beautiful views of surrounding Lake Como. The amenities are great. Wifi as good as home. Comfortable beds, working kitchen (as we cooked most our dinners here, and ate lunch out). Location is two minutes walking distance to Varenna square to the south and ferry port to the north. So convenient. Two markets in Varenna provide fruit, vegetables, meat, yogurt, all your food needs. One market north by the train station has good deals on local wine and olive oil. The botanical gardens associated with this home are spectacular and provide a quiet restful space to enjoy. The patio off the living room faces west, with awnings that draw down, to help enjoy a nice glass of wine and the sunset. A beautiful home in beautiful Lake Como!
I'm a Trip Advisor Veteran & have had some really GREAT experiences! This was the BEST EVER! Grazi!!
Incredible villa on the lake experience -- epic views, awesome living area, air conditioning, laundry, personalized welcome. We will definitely stay here again in our next Lago di Como visit!
We had a very nice stay at this location. The location is absolutely perfect. Breathaking views from the rooftop or the patio area of Lake Como and the surrounding mountains, including the Alps in the distance. The house is located between the central town area of Varenna and the Ferry/train station on the other side. All were within easy walking distance. Due to the location, it was very quiet at night. We spent a day hiking around Varenna, a day taking the Ferry around the lake to the other towns and a day trip into Milan for some sightseeing (only 1 hour by train).
Beds were very comfortable and the furnishings were nice. There was a lush greenness in the gardens surrounding the house.
The owner met us as we pulled up from the train station and showed us around and was very nice.
Only reason that I did not give it 5 stars is due to two things: One, there was a musty smell that permeated the main floor. Took a bit to get used to. Other was an invasion of some small ants in our son's bedroom. Mentioned this to the owner and he thought they probabaly migrated in from the garden due to the changing weather patterns (early May). This is probably a once and done issue.
My favorite part of the visit was just sitting on the patio and looking out at the mountains and lake surrounding it.
Ca'Livia has an amazing view of Lake Como and is closely located to multiple excellent restaurants. It is a spacious accommodation perfect for two couples with possibilities for kids. We really didn't need the car we rented and found ferry travel around the lake to be very enjoyable. A side trip to St. Moritz on the Bernina Express was also a huge plus....all done on the trains, which are very efficient. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
We stayed at this Villa for 2 weeks 5 years ago and came back this May for 4 weeks. It is as we remembered. See review "Fabulous Villa" 21st January 2014. Lake Como and Varenna has to be one, if not the most beautiful place in the world to spend time. Varenna has Train access to Milan and to Switzerland via Torano & Bernina Express. Ferries just a short walk to cover most of the villages and attractions on the lake with Bellagio the most famous. This Villa is in its own private gorgeous "Botanical Garden" right in the middle of town on the Greenway walk. So accessable. The Villa itself is still fabulous! Great view from all 3 balconies over the lake towards the Alps. The hosts are terrific and will attend promptly to problems and fix them immediately. Another wonderful visit - did not want to leave after 4 weeks and already trying to plan another visit.
Having just returned from a fantastic four night stay here, we feel we have found somewhere we could happily return to.
A fabulous lakeside holiday home, this property can boast fantastic views, great facilities and a location that is hard to match.
We were greeted at the property and given a full and complete tour and instructions, then it was time to kick back and enjoy the views.
The ferry terminal is very close, as are the square and restaurants; both literally less than a five minute walk away.
I would say the only thing we felt we missed in our time here were sun loungers with which to enjoy the stunning views from not one but two sun terraces.
