We loved almost everything about this place. The grounds, the location, the views. Being on the east side of the lake was great as it was away from the zoo that was on the more popular (and populated) west side. Being up on the hill we had spectacular views - what a poolside setting! The facilities were exceptional. We stayed in Casa Pupa and a Mansarda. The only issue was the kitchen and dining was not really adequate for 8 adults with 5 kids although we managed. However, we were offered the nearby kitchen adjoining the common room so this helped.
Be prepared for biting bugs outside in the evening which can't be helped.
The sprawling grounds were well maintained and we never felt crowded. Lots of space to play!
Sarah was very polite, attentive and helpful and everyone had a great time.

The site is most beautiful in a position overlooking Lake Como. Our house Casa Giulia was extremely comfortable and well equipped with terrific views. There was a great sense of peace. The kitchen was well equipped so it was easy to cook in but there was a great little restaurant within walking distance.

Top notch accommodations high above Varenna. We stayed for 3 nights in the newly built Casa Giulia. Wifey and I stay in vacation rentals almost exclusively. This was by far the best appointed kitchen we have ever seen. It was like being at home. For people who love to cook, it will be heaven.
The views from the property are amazing. You really feel like you have "gotten away from it all" when you are there. Worth every penny.
Yes, there is a big climb to get back from lake level. I would not recommend this place for anyone out of shape or over 60 unless you have a car. Seriously, the Italians do not believe in switchbacks. But other than that, it's the most romantic place we have ever stayed.

It was a true pleassure to stay at this accomodation. At arrival after driving a pretty steep and narrow road we were most kindly welcomed and escorted to casa Guilia. Casa Guilia was everything we hoped for: clean, well decorated (eye for detail), very well equiped. The whole area is impressive, the views are great. Just opposite of casa Guilia is a brand new swimmingpool, which you only share with a few other houses.

À drive to the city of varenne takes approximately 5-10 minutes. In my opinion a Car is definitely necessary. I can recommend Having lunch or diner at the local restaurant

We stayed at Casa Cristina for one week. Our favorite thing was the view from our terrace, overlooking the olive tree garden and Lake Como. The apartment is newly renovated and very modern and clean. All IKEA. One thing we didn´t like about the house is the many number of bugs (ants, mosquitoes, flies, spiders etc.), since there is no screen for the doors/windows. But the thick walls keep it nice and cool, even on hot days.

The agriturismo is pretty large and the houses all have some privacy, it felt like people kept quite to themselves, enhanced by the fact that some of the pools were private. It´s an excellent place if you just look for somewhere quiet and beautiful. The location is unbeatable, amidst the olive trees, next to the castle and overlooking the lake in three directions.

It´s not a cosy, personal kind of agriturismo, unlike other places we stayed where the owner is around much or where they have a restaurant with the produce from the farm. This place has the agriturismo label because of the olive oil only.
