Camping Sirmione

I booked this campsite only a few weeks in advance. We only stayed for 2 nights as a stopover on the way to Croatia but we really liked it! The toilets were clean - but there were some turkish loos (the standy up ones). Showers were great and clean. Our pitch was great, very shady. Friendly staff. You need a swimming cap for the pool which is a bit weird, but we borrowed some from the life guard. The pool closes a bit early too - 7pm!!

The restaurant is wonderful : the food was delicious, the service really good and the wine (Soave) was just excellent and it was not too expensive! Plus the views over the lake were amazing!!

We cycled into Sirmione the next day - that was an experience!!! There is no cycle path and LOTS of traffic and people - be warned!! It was a bit of a hairy cycle......not a negative of the campsite just a warning!! And it's quite far to walk - I reckon about 40 minutes!!

At 32 Euros a night for a campervan and 2 people it was a bit expensive but the location is fantastic!

Very friendly staff, spacious camp sites with lots of trees and bushes, so very nice. The bathrooms were always kind of dirty... I've never seen anyone cleaning them, but we survived. The pool is really great, but you have to wear a bathing cap. It's was very quiet at night. What was really disappointing was the "beach". there is no real beach, just some grass near the lake and you have to walk down some stairs to get into the water...
What might be interesting for people with a tent.. the camp sites only have high voltage current plugs. In the bathrooms are normal ones though. The town itself is very beautiful, super market and some shops as well as restaurants are nearby. The center is a 20-30min walk away.

We stayed in one of the appartments on the camp site. They are new and clean and have everything you need - except a kettle!
The pool is fantastic and it is great being so close the lake. I can also really recommend the restaurant on the site just under the appartments.
We were there in July and it was hot so we loved the air con in the room after a hot day by the lake.

Decent site with very nice shower facilities. Has a pool but it closed quite early and the surface was covered with midges and you got a mouthful. I guess lakeside sites can have this problem but the swarms of small insects around the lights at night was not good. A shame as this is a lovely site in a lovely location.

We stayed at this site for one night when returning from a holiday in Italy. We thought it was a lovely campsite. It's a bit rustic but you get what you pay for. The reason some people had trouble with the electricity is because the site has reversed polarity, this can often happen in Europe and can be easily rectified by buying an adaptor in the UK.

We really enjoyed our stay and would like to have spent longer there. We ate in the restaurant, the food was very good and the views of Lake Garda were stunning.

Camping sirmione

On the most southern side of lake garda you will find the city of sirmione, with it's castle. Just between the 'new' and 'old' city you will find camping sirmione (3stars). In advance we tried to find as much info as we could find, but hardly anything was found (even on their own website). But the summier info we had, was enough to book the campsite and after all, the camping had more to offer then we expected.

Booking was done online via the camping website. Everything via the mail and our two places were booked, next to eachother and good spots with some shade in the morning and evening. Between 11 and 17 it gets very warm. Two clean toilet buildings, well maintained with enough showers and toilets (3 sitting and 4 standing!). Toiletpaper sometimes was finished in the afternoon. Showers were warm and the washing tables were new and modern. A few kids playground around at the camping and near the 2nd toilet building is also a volleyball field (rock floor). From 23 in the evening it's quiet at the camping and not possible to enter with your car. There is no entertainement team for the kids.

At the toilet building near the reception, there were even wassing machines (4 euro), dryers and 1 big freezer, which everybody could use. This sort of handy things, we didn't know. Further things on the campsite were a very good restaurant (for 4 people 80 euro = main dish, 1 drink and dessert), a little campshop with the most usefull things/groceries and a take away for pizza, icecream and snacks. In the shop you can buy bread in the morning and take your local newspaper. At the best thing of that place: free wifi. Not super good but working for sure.

The swimming pool is open all day (with liveguard), but closed between 1 and 3 o'clock for siesta. Also you need a cap while swimming (buy them at the reception). The swimming pool has 3 pools, a grass field around it and not much shade. Near the swimming pool is a little open church area. We didn't go or went over there, but I think you can go there on sunday morning or/and afternoon.

Biggest plus is the garda lake itself, only 1 minute from the campsite. Tip: ask for the key of the gate at the other side of the camping, so you don't have to walk to the front of the campsite. The area at the lake is full of shade with a grass pitch. The water is very clean, but with a lot of rocks, so watershoes are very handy. Near the campsite you can use (for payment): trampoline, sunbeds/parasol and lots of water activities. Also 2 volleyball fields available free of use. The camping has a slope to put your boat in to the water and some places to leave your boat in the water. And last but not least: very friendly staff on all places of the campsite (reception, swimmingpool, greenkeeper, maintenance etc).

At the city of sirmione two nice things to mention: on friday morning farmers market (@ lugana, 20 minute walk) and on friday evening in the new part a market with all sort of things to buy. The old city is a 20/25 minute walk from the campsite. The old part is very nice to walk around in the evening and have some dinner and as dessert a big icecream.

all furcoat and no knickers that's my opinion on this site, whilst you have the golf buggy to view your site you think things are on the up, but no. when selecting our pitches, things took a downwrd turn when my husband set up the electric, and it immediately tripped the electric out, after several attempts to get the electric to work we gave up and made do with the gas for boiling our saucepan for cups of tea. very irritating. non of our electrical appliances worked. and we we're stranded for 5 night due to mechanical problems with our friends van so couldn't venture to another site. but i would of moved if possible. swimming pool was shut from 1.00 til 3.00. the hottest time of the day rubbish. had to pay for sunbeds rubbish. only two decent toilets the others we're the standy up type that nobody but nobody wants to use.Lake was great but very hard to get into unless you have swimming shoe's (strongly advised. otherwise could end up falling over a breeze block or sharp stone, hoping to take our little boat out , but decided against it as terrain was to rough. if you want to visit the Italian Lakes for beauty Lake como is far prettier. but that's just my opinion. if you can avoid this site I would. never want to stay ever again. rather stay in a service station lol.
