“An expensive mistake”
Reviewed 1 October 2013

My sister and I have stayed at the Hotel Sirmione on a previous holiday and found it wonderful. We thought we would try this sister hotel for a treat as it was supposed to be a superior establishment. On reflection we were wrong; our first experience was with the indifference of the reception staff who met us on our arrival; we arrived with enthusiasm and excitement to be greeted by a very lukewarm reception which continued throughout our stay. We had booked half board but gave up eating in the main restaurant after three attempts. Food was very inferior, rubbery omelette, overcooked pasta, dry fish. Part of the pleasure of visiting Italy is the dining experience and this was lacking. We tried to negotiate with the hotel to change our dining arrangements but this was not possible until our holiday rep intervened. We were then able to eat lunch instead and go out to eat in the evening at one of the many restaurants in the town. We would highly recommend going on a bed and breakfast rate here and enjoy eating elsewhere. Our room was very average worth very hard mattresses. We had a balcony but it could only just fit two metal chairs on it so hardly suitable for watching the activities on the lake. No we would not return and no we would not recommend this as a holiday destination and not value for money.

Room Tip: We saw into other peoples rooms and there were others which were far superior with comfortable arm c...

Dear madame, Dear Sir,

First of all I hope you had a pleasant journey back home.

I want to take this opportunity to personally apologize for the lack of service and attention during your stay at the Grand Hotel Terme. Please be assured that I am very concerned about the comfort and wellbeing of our guests and be assured that this has been taken in a serious light and I have spoken to the according department heads to avoid similar reoccurrence in the future.

Unfortunately we are unable to contact you directly because of the anonymous comment, however if you are willing and have time, I kindly ask to contact the Resident Manager Mrs Simonetta Coazzoli.

I hope these issues will not deter you from returning to the and I do hope that we shall have the pleasure of welcoming you and your sister back in not too distant future.

Best regards

Returned to the UK on 25th September 2013 after 10 days in Sirmione at the Grand Hotel Therme, I have never reviewed and hotel before but thought I should offer my opinion on this one which is rated at 5*.
I have stayed at better 3* hotels than this one, especially for service.
After asking reception about 5 times whether there was a welcome letter for us, we were finally given one over 48 hours after arriving!
Breakfast service on 19th September was appalling. No dishes, no plates, no bread, milk eggs, fruit or cereals. Guests stood in the middle of the restaurant scratching their heads and looking round mystified.Restaurant staff completely unable to cope with the problem and it took at leats half an hour before food started to arrive from the kitchen. Told later that a party of Japanese had hit the restaurant early and cleaned it out! You would have thought that a 5* hotel could have foreseen this and reacted quicker.
At least 3 times at breakfast the hard boiled eggs turned out to be less than soft boiled and when cracked open the white of the eggs flowed out like water. The eggs were returned to the kitchen for remedial work! A 5* hotel where the chef's can't boil an egg!!
Couldn't manage the scrambled eggs. Just a bowl of gunge! Bacon looked nice but always tasted of sausage as in the same receptacle as the sausage!
Also charged for a bottle of water at dinner when I only ordered wine.
There also seems to be a shortage of flannels. Several days we were left without any and when querying this we were told a laundry problem. Obviously not enough in stock to go round. I think they were laundered every day and somedays were not returned on time!

Room Tip: Give this one a miss

Good hotel with great spa facilities offers a romantic getaway but also a good spot for families. Views from the hotel are amazing overlooking Lake Garda but you do fnd more insects in the evenings. The service was very good and pricey to match!

When exploring Sirmione both the Roman ruins and the castle were closed on Monday so beware.

Room Tip: Try to obtain room overlooking the lake

Located just outside the historic town walls and just a short walk across the drawbridge and you are in hustle and bustle of the old town itself. The hotel is an oasis of calm as soon as you walk through the gates which is welcome as the town does get busy as the day progresses. The staff are very helpful and almost unassuming although the waiters at breakfast could do with paying a little more attention to the guests rather than concentrating on setting up tables, only a slight niggle! The breakfast buffet is extensive, well presented and appeals to the many nationalities that visit the hotel Out on the sundeck there are fabulous views across the lake. The rooms are large and clean and the housekeeping staff perform a very efficient job. All in all, an excellent stay, however, try to get a room at the back that overlooks the lake.

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the back that overlooks the lake, it will be quieter and the view will be more...

This was our first visit to Lake Garda and it did not disappoint. The hotel location is perfect. Close to the historic town with countless great restaurants and cafe bars and walking distance to the ferry dock and Grotte di Catullo. The buffet breakfasts and late evening bar service are commendable. The deck overlooking the lake is breathtaking and pool staff are very helpful. Visit only marred by 3 nights of noisy concerts in the piazza at the front of the hotel but on the plus side it was free entertainment.

A lot of years ago (18years) we arrived for the first time at the Grand Hotel Terme, and after
18 years we never left. Grand Hotel is one big grand family that will do their best to make every holiday like a fairytail.
When you are coming on holiday to Sirmione and Grand Hotel you will never leave again. Every year the do a lot of investment to upgrade this old and famous Hotel. The service in the Hotel is very good, friendly and also espescially for children you will have a great stay! In front of the hotel you have many things to do and in the back of the hotel you will find rest and you can relax in the beautiful new spa with an amazing view.
The atmosphere is very friendly and kind. They will do everything to make your holiday special!

Many Thanks to the Hotel and hope you all will visit this beautiful paradise.
