We arrived at Sirmione on a busy Sunday afternoon not knowing quite what to expect. Once through the historic gate and into the bustling narrow streets we soon found Eden Hotel. The hotel was completely refurbished a couple of years ago and has been decorated in a calm modern style. Our room was spacious and had a lovely view of the jetty where the boats arrive and depart to other towns on the shores of Lake Gada. The private decking area in front of the hotel offers a wonderful place to sit and relax, watching life go by. The water lapping against the pillars of the jetty more than once eased me into a gentle nap. Overall this hotel proved to be a great place to stay. The staff were always polite and helpful, it was spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
We had a small problem with the hot water from the tap on the sink and when we mentioned this we were offered an upgrade to a Prestige room for the remainder of our three night stay.
During the week the town is much quieter and easier to explore. There are numerous restaurants, trattorias and pizzerias which all offer very good quality food - and lots of Gelatarias for delicious Italian ice cream.
So, a great hotel, fabulous location and a place you will want to return to I'm sure. More
