We returned again to the Hotel Du Parc in Sirmione Lake Garda, all 4 of us and were greeted by the friendly staff at reception. This was our second visit.
The hotel is situated about a 1½ miles from the centre of Sirmione in a peaceful and beautiful setting. Every morning the hotel runs a shuttle bus service to Sirmione centre; this has to be pre booked as they can only carry 7 passengers at a time. You can also book the return journey as well, but in our case we use to get the local bus back to the hotel, as we could not definitely say what time we would be back after our travels around the lake. The cost of the local bus back was 1 euro 30 cents on the bus to BRESCIA at 12 minutes past the hour or the VERONA bus at 28 minutes past the hour. You have to pre purchase your tickets from either a Tobacconist shop or the bus ticket office next to the information centre.
We spent most of our time doing various trips organised by ourselves rather than from Thompson. We visited Sigurta gardens. A must for anyone interested in gardening. To get there we took the Verona bus and disembarked at Peschiera. The ticket cost was was 1 euro 90 cents. We then got a taxi to Sigurta gardens, taxi cost was 25 Euros. The taxi driver was very helpful and told us about this beautiful village BORGHETTO to go and visit. To get there, turn right when leaving the gardens then after about 100 yards turn right and keep going all the way down the road and hill for about 1½ miles. BORGHETTO village is in the top 50 villages in Italy. After the visit we went for something to eat and the café staff arranged for a taxi to pick us up and return us to Peschiera so we could then return back to Sirmione on the bus. An excellent day out. Other trips that we did were visiting various towns on the lake, and if you visit places like Malcesine, Limone, or Riva, this has to be done using the fast ferries, but you have to pay a supplement for this.
The rooms were very comfortable and the maids were very efficient in making and cleaning the rooms daily. All the rooms now have SKY HD, but a lot of the premium channels have to be paid for, but there are plenty of free channels available.
The breakfast was good with a good selection fresh fruit, cereals, yoghurts, jams, bread rolls, bread, toast, bacon, eggs, cheese, tomatoes, ham, juices, tea, coffee etc.
The evening meal was first class always a 4-course menu, which you chose at breakfast from the evening menu. Free bottles of wine and water, a starter from the salad bar, then a pasta, soup or fish dish, followed by the main course which there was always a choice of 3 different dishes and then finished of with a choice of various desserts. There was no rush to get through the various courses; you could take your time over each one. The restaurant staff were all very helpful and would always accommodate any changes to the menu if you were not too keen on the items on the menu. A big thank you must go to the restaurant manager and his staff. Also a big thank you to the Chefs.
A nice little touch was the complimentary welcome drink. Fernando (who is a real asset to the hotel) made us all a lovely cocktail which we thoroughly enjoyed.
The week we were there (first week in June) was very hot 35 to 40 degrees everyday so we had the air conditioning on most of the time set at 20 degrees, but if you wanted it higher or lower it was no problem to ask the reception staff to adjust it.
We have been reading various other reports placed on Trip Advisor regarding the Hotel Du Parc in Sirmione Lake Garda especially the one from Gary W, Sheffield, United Kingdom. I must point out that our party of 4 feel concerned and strongly disagree with some of his comments regarding cramped bathrooms and very hard beds. We found the bathrooms were ideal and the beds very comfortable.
The deposit for the safe of 30 Euro’s and 25 Euro’s for a Towel for the Pool were refundable. The food in the Restaurant was of a high standard. Yes the Main course’s were not large portions but you had a Salad Bar at first then followed by a starter course then the main course followed by a choice of desserts. So there was ample food. All four of us have good appetites. As regards to the unused wine, the bottle of wine would be placed in the chiller for you to finish of the next evening if you so desired, plus of course you would have a new bottle of wine as well.
As regards to getting to the centre of Sirmione there are buses as well as the Hotel mini bus service to the centre of Sirmione as I have explained previously. There is also the town of Colombarie where various activities go on in the evening. There is also a nice little Lake side bar/café just less than 10 minutes away from the Hotel where you can go during the day or the evening.
We believe this hotel does deserve its 4 star rating based on the quality of the food, the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the hotel.
Overall this is a very good hotel and we can highly recommend it and we will certainly be returning there in the future. Our thanks go to Sylvia (the manager) who was also very helpful as was the entire staff of the hotel for making our stay most enjoyable and welcoming. Stephen, Joy, Susan and James.

Brilliant Hotel, loved everything about it.All the staff were very pleasant and helpful from the reception staff to the gardeners, everyone of them were a credit to the hotel. The meals were top class and we couldnt complain about any of them. All the public areas were spotlessly clean as were the bedrooms.Ours was average size with a balcony(very quiet) overlooking the garden with a lovely bathroom, with toiletries included.Air conditioning worked perfectly well which we controlled ourselves. The hotel was approx 30 mins walk from the centre of Sirmione but this was not a problem, it actually added to the delight of the holiday as it was a very pleasant walk into town , mostly along the side of the lake, with plenty of places to stop on the way for a drink, coffee or ice cream.I would definately highly recommend this hotel and I am not easily pleased !!

Hotel du Parc is situated in the part of town called Colombare about 3 km. from the old ancient town of Sirmione. The hotel is very well kept and extremely clean. The interior is not hyper modern on the contrary it is really like the old days, but everything looks new and taken care of - not a spot or scratch so you feel like travel back in time, but with WIFI in the lobby and SAT flat screen TV in the rooms. Compare it to a excellent refurbished Riva mahogany speedboat sailing on lake Garda.

Room Tip: Stayed in a room with lake view and those rooms are the best.

Rooms very tired in particular the bathroom - Shower cubicle falling apart. Mattress really hard. Whole hotels lacks atmosphere . Over 30 mins walk into Sirmione. Courtesy bus does not run often enough. Food wasn't too bad . Thompson rep not interested in our views, this should not be advertised as 4 keys.

Room Tip: It appear the top floor rooms have been refurbished so may be better

I have just got back from a wonderful stay in Sirmione, Italy. We booked the 4 Star saver hotel deal through Thomson Lakes & Mountains. There was a chance of staying in one of four hotels, one being the Du Park.
Minutes after walking trough the glass entrance doors with the 4 stars at eye level I formed the opinion I was not standing in a 4 Star Hotel.
Don't get me wrong this is not a bad hotel and at 3 star would cause me to give it a higher rating. These are my reasons for not doing so.
First the rooms, I understand that Italian rooms are more classical than British ones but the rooms were basic with very cramped bathrooms and very hard beds. There was a mini bar in the rooms with a use and pay tariff that was expensive. Rooms did have air conditioning but the temp was set and could not be adjusted other than contacting reception. There was a safe deposit box in the room that you could use for a deposit of 30 Euro. If you wanted a towel for the pool you had to pay a deposit of 25 Euro per towel.
The food was average at best but never bad. On the first night I had 3 thin slices of meat and 3 croquet potatoes on a small plate for my main course. To be fair the pasta was good and we were offered free wine and water with our meal every night, but you was told that you could not take the wine out into the bar. I suspect that the unused wine was recycled over to the next night. You also was asked to order your evening meal at breakfast.
The staff were very good though and attentive.
The location is also a fair way from the centre of Sirmione. It is a good brisk 30 minute walk away and not onto the lake. Facilities other than a outside pool are non existent.
So to sum up this hotel may have been in the past a 4 Star, but no more in my opinion it is 3 star at best for all the above reasons. Thomson should not list this hotel as a 4 Star as it is misleading customers especially when they market it along side the hotel Caesius Thermae Spa in Bardolino.

We have just returned from a two week holiday, the weather was great. This caused a problem as the air conditioning was not turned on and even though may guests ask for it to be turned on and so did our rep ,it did not happen. There was no other option ,we had to sleep with the bedroom door open,as this opened into the room it meant that in the night we had to be careful not to walk into it. Also as the balconies are very close together the if your neighbours were smoking it all came into the room.
The room was on the small side and was very tired and in dire need of a make over. The safe was a small old fashion key safe so you had to carry the key with you. There were no tea making facilities.
On the positive side the staff were friendly and the hotel was clean.
I did not think our room was anywhere near 4 star.

The suggestion that this is in Sirmione is a figment of marketing, the only way to the old town is by free hotel shuttle or bike hire, the shuttle however is too early return for dinner.
The rooms we has wre excellect (above bar an reception) which enabled wi-fi in our rooms, otherwise you need to be in the receprtion only. No such thing as a room with a lake view.
make sure you keep the tickets for bar bills etc, we were hiddiously overpriced before protest, then this carried on a week after we arrived home!!

Room Tip: We had a room over the bar & pool, really pleasant, tapped into the receptoion wi-fi.
