We spent 2 nights at the hotel in August 2013. I suppose the area will always be busy during holiday season, therefore there is no need to invest in the furnishing and décor of the hotel which is a bit 80ies. It seems to be a family run hotel and you may have to wait around the reception area for a while before someone turns up.
The public area around reception consists of various seating areas, none of which seem to serve a particular purpose. It may be an good space for a small bar area.
The bedroom was quite basic, the beds were comfortable, there are flat screen TV's in the room and a small balcony with a clothes dryer. The bathroom is very retro, but clean.
The pool area is excellent, very clean and plenty of sunbeds in good condition.
The breakfast room is a bit "sad", brown furniture, brown table cloths, brown tiles. The breakfast itself is a very basic cold continental breakfast, all self- service.
We ate in the restaurant one evening and had a takeaway pizza for lunch at the pool the next day. The food was nice and fresh.
The location of the hotel is quite good, although you don't get any lake views and you are still a bit away from Sirmione.
In terms of children's facilities, there is a slide, a fussball table and table tennis.

The place was very easy to find just off the main road from Verona to Bresica, and good connections for Sirmione. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. The whole place was very clean. The food in the restauant was probably the best we had all week.
We used the swimming pool every day which was again very clean. The owner of the hotel suggested that we take the hotels bikes out for a day which was free, to expolore the area.
This turned out to be one of the best days of the holiday.

We would recommend this hotel to any of our friends or family.

Room Tip: Lake view is a must.

We booked this at the last minute through Hotels.com for the bargain price of 89 euros for a family of 3. I had no real expectations for the hotel, we had decided to stay and extra night around Garda and needed a place to lay our heads.

The hotel is on the main drive into Sirmione, and across the road from the lake, so if you are looking for lakeside terraces this isn't the place. However some of the front balconies faced the lake and it's literally across the road to the lakeside walk.

Free plentiful parking at the front of the hotel and friendly check in. The building is elongated so we had to leave one side to get into another door to our room at the back. We were on the first floor at the end of the building. The corridor is a bit gloomy.

The whole hotel reminded me of holidays as a kid in the 70's and 80's to Europe. The bathroom was red and white striped and along with the rest of the room resembled a set from "Ashes to Ashes". The same went for the buffet breakfast room - very "Carry on Abroad". However we loved it. The room was immaculate, the beds were made and room cleaned by the time we had returned from breakfast! Very comfortable beds, good aircon, sky TV you could convert to English, a balcony overlooking a river. It was all fine for a hotel of this star rating and this price.

We used the pool at the back of the hotel, they told us it would close when it got dark! This was great as we were really looking forward to an evening dip after a hot day out. We were the only people in it - a decent size and a kids pool for toddlers. They also had some outside games - table football etc.

We didn't eat in the evening, but the restaurant looked very popular. There was a nice Gelateria on the RHS of the hotel.

If you are looking for cool, modern style with neutral tones this isn't for you. If you can enjoy this place for the Retro place it is, and for the price we got, then you'll have a good time.

Another plus for the hotel - we left our passports in the safe, as we handed back our keys and forgot to pick them up. The hotel very kindly posted them onto us safely, as we had driven home without realising we didn't have them!!!

We're just back from a fantastic week in Hotel Riel, Sirmione.
My husband booked the hotel (with some help from our daughter) for our silver wedding anniversary. As I always book our holidays I was a little nervous. However, the hotel was lovely with friendly, helpful staff, clean room and good location.
The hotel breakfast is fairly basic but there was a good selection of teas. We used the supermarket two doors up to buy fruit and cheap drinks.
The room was cleaned every day with the bed made and clean towels left. There was some noise from the road which our room overlooked but it was very quiet at night. The bed was hard and lumpy but the soft pillows made up for it!
Just a short walk up to the town was a variety of shops, restaurants and a few bars. The walk along to the small harbour in the evening was charming.
It was easy to travel by bus, we went to Verona for a day and also took the local bus to the end of Sirmione as I couldn't face the hour+ walk again. I would recommend the lake tour as we got to see some pretty towns and villages while getting some interesting information on the area. Venice was well worth it too, very romantic!!
We took a day off to rest our worn out feet and found we had the hotel pool to ourselves as it was pretty quiet being the end of the season.
We ate in the hotel Restaurant twice and had two of the best meals of the week, the pizza was superb!
We will definitely go back to the Lake Garda and Sirmione is a great location.

Actually we did not stay in the hotel but only visit it's restaurant "Al braciere" during our vacation in the area of Lago di Garda. We ate their amazing gluten free pizza (+ gluten free beer!!!). It was very taste - the best pizza we ever ate. They have many other Italian and sea food dishes. And last but not least, their team is very professional and kind.
We loved it and we'll be back!

very nice and had a great view of the lake, clean room, only short was that it was on the second floor and no elevator, and we had to take the bags up ourselves. breakfast was simple, the same as it was in any other hotel in Italy. location wasn't that good, had to take the car to get into town for sight seeing and going out. and the GPS kept dirrecting us to a different location, altho i gave it the right address.

First impressions are that this was a lovely hotel. But this is far from the truth. The hotel is quite far from the centre of Sirmione and the tourist attractions. You'll need a car or bike to get there. The room was clean and spacious. However, it's very noisy at night from traffic and the restaurant below. The staff were rude and the internet didn't work.
