We stayed half board at the Pace for 11 nights in July 2014. This is a small hotel right in the heart of Sirmione. The room was lovely; quite large with a (small) balcony which overlooked the piazza and with a clear view of the lake. The bathroom was quite spacious and luxurious unlike some hotels in Italy. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and most spoke reasonable English so communication was not a problem. The room was spotless when we arrived and was kept that way each day. The hotel has its own private jetty onto the lake where you could sit and sip your drinks under a sun brolly. The food was varied and quite good quality although some meals were not to my liking. If you prefer to eat out, there are lots of other great restaurants within a few hundred yards. We had a great time at the Pace and I would have no problems recommending this hotel.

Room Tip: A balcony room is great to people watch and to look out onto the lake. No need to worry about traffi...

We found this delightful hotel quite by accident.

We were allocated one of the cheapest rooms, as it was the last avalable room they had, but it was just stunningly well presented. Our room was mix of classic and contemporary styling and the bed was beautifully comfortable.

The overall feel of the place is really one of peace. It's the sort of place you can just sit in the lounge/library area with a book, have a drink and simply relax. Think E.M Forster in terms of elegant ambience and you won't be far off.

Alternatively you can enjoy the access to the lake from the garden area.

The breakfast was simply the best we have ever encountered. Many tables are pre-reserved by external clients, which is a real testament to it's quality and range of cuisine.

I wish I had taken a photo of the sumptious feast which was breakfast; mounds of fresh fruits, cakes, meats, cheeses, breads, fresh juices and even some Prosecco on ice if you so chose!

We will most certainly return to this little gem, it's just fantastic.

This is a lovely clean hotel. The food is excellent we stayed on a half board basis and were served at the table with a 4 course meal every night, this was a real treat and made the stay seem very special. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. This is a dog friendly hotel. I personally would prefer it not to be. However the only dogs I saw during our stay was a very small dog and the owners dog a couple of times, once in the garden and once outside the restaurant. The hotel itself it perfectly located it is extremely quiet and peaceful The only noise that could be heard at night was from the air conditioning unit in the bedroom but this was needed as it would be very warm without it. The bathrooms are a really good size and the shower is very good, which is unusual for a hotel. The rooms are very traditional which adds to the ambience of the hotel and the lounge area of the hotel is a mixture of very different furnishings but again this is very quaint and adds to the ambience. The only disappointment is that the terrace overlooking the lake is reserved for restaurant guests in the evening but the terrace can be used during the day and early evening before the restaurant opens and it is a very pleasant spot right on the lake. The bar service was a little slow and at times we had to look around for someone to serve us. However I would highly recommend this hotel and would definitley book again

This is the second time we have been to Hotel Pace. Just got home (end of June 2014). This hotel is a gem. Nothing is too much for Julia, her Mum and all the staff to make the stay perfect. We had a room (#50) with a big terrace overlooking the lake, so we could watch the boats come and go but it was nicely secluded from the passing tourists. The hotel is right in the centre of Sirmione and is ideally situated for wandering the streets or catching a lake ferry.

We were on half board. Trust me, you couldn't eat lunch as well! The day begins with breakfast and a selection of fruit, fresh eggs, meat, cheese, more home-made pastries and cakes than you can shake a stick at, juices, prosecco, fresh coffee ... Get the picture? Then there is the lovely dinner consisting of "proper" Italian food: pasta, fish (Amber Jack anybody?), glazed veal that melts in your mouth, and so on. Oh, and if you don't fancy what is on the menu then Julia will have the chef prepare something just for you (steak, salad, what do you fancy?). After a week we felt we wouln't eat again for a month!

If you want swanky, go to the Grand at Gardone. If you want to be looked after, come here.

myself n my husband stayed in this little hotel very clean, staff very friendly and helpful aircon in rooms fantastic as temp was 36 degree Very quite location yet in the centre of Sirmione. food was excellent the only disappointment was we could not dine outside in the evening we were in a closed restaurant, the one thing that attracted me to the hotel in the first place was the jetty n the tables by the lake to dine at night the sister hotel the Catullo took up all the space my suggestion would be for guests to dine just outside the restaurant door where there are lovely flowers But to be enclosed in summer was not good. having said that I could not fault it in any other way All guests were brought out on a speed boat for a trip around Sirmione n given a glass of champagne compliments of the hotel This was a really lovely gesture n made a great end to our holidayB-)

We stayed 2 nights in Sirmione after a week's stay in Limone (see review of Hotel Lido). Unfortunately it was extremely hot (mid 30s) but the Hotel Pace room was lovely and cool, with air con which you control and can have on all the time. It also had window shutters to keep out the sun. The hotel is in a lovely position right on the lake, with a jetty that juts out into the lake - you can't paddle here but if you are a good swimmer you could jump off the jetty into the lake. The hotel is very central but in a quiet position, we had no noise problems at all. We had a top floor room with amazing views over the hotel gardens and the lake. The room was spacious with beautiful antique furniture, and the bathroom was very plush with shower, separate bath, his and her basins and mirrors, a separate room with bidet and toilet. Some little niggles: hardly any hooks, the lighting in the bedroom was extremely dim, the bathroom had no chair or surfaces to put anything, the balcony was very small with only one chair.

We were on half board and the food was excellent, a 4 course meal in an air conditioned dining room. The hotel has an a la carte restaurant but the half board residents cannot eat in the same area as them, nor can they eat on the jetty, but of course we were paying a lot less than the a la carte clients.

Parking is in a car park about 8 mins walk away. It was certainly an interesting drive through the old town - you have to show the police at the entrance proof of where you are staying, as cars are not allowed into the old town unless you are staying there - then you have to drive very very slowly to avoid running people over as the roads and archways are very narrow, and as it is really all pedestrianized the people don't think about cars coming along. As we were only there 2 nights we didn't use the car again. Sirmione is lovely, with walks along the east promenade, the west side is reserved more for the hotels with their private jetties, there is also a park walk but unfortunately this is cut short by another park which is privately owned. There are many interesting shops (as in all the Lake Garda towns) and at night it is really pretty to walk around (not to mention cooler!) A little train goes up to the peninsula to conserve your energy.

Hotel Pace was very reasonably priced considering it is in the centre of Sirmione and I think an excellent choice if you want to spend a couple of nights there, if you wanted to drive out every day I could see this being a pain, but of course you can travel about by bus and boat.

Room Tip: Top floor lakeside for excellent views

We stayed at the Hotel Pace from 28th May till 4thJune 2014. Wonderful holiday. A family run hotel and all so friendly. So clean and relaxing! The food was fab and there is an a la carte restaurant which is excellent. Right on the lake but step out and you are in the beautiful town of Sirmione which has everything to offer. Great shops, restaurants and places of interests. Check out the roman ruins! Awesome! I spent lots of my time sitting in the gardens of the hotel drawing and painting. It was so peaceful even though it is in the town. We really chilled out and returned full of pasta, pizza, ice cream, capachino and lugana wine! Which you can buy in asda by the way! Back on the diet

Room Tip: Room with lake view is a must.
