We had a wonderful two night stay at the Regina Palace! Our room was very comfortable, spacious and immaculate! Lake view was amazing and the grounds are manicured beautifully!
Front desk staff was lovely accept for one younger, dark haired girl ( I wish we had gotten her name). She was rude to us on more then one occasion!
Weather was unseasonably warm, so it would have been nice to have air conditioning option, as terrace door did not give us much of a breeze.
Breakfast was ample and delicious with many great choices, however waitstaff could be a bit friendlier! They seemed to have their favorite guests who they were friendly with, but hardly gave the rest of us the time of day! I sat for fifteen minutes one morning and finally had to ask one of the waiters if I could get some coffee!
Location was great, walking distance to town and ferry ticket office.
We had a wonderful stay and would definitely return!

Room tip: Lake view for sure!

We stayed at the Regina Palace for 7 nights on a Riviera Travel Italian Lakes holiday. We found the past reviews on TA to be pretty accurate with the hotel offering excellent location, beautiful grounds, grand decor, good breakfast and a great Sporting Club / indoor pool / Spa.

A couple of pieces of advice:
1. If the air conditioning is not working in your room ask reception to turn it on. Within 15 minutes our's was then in full flow.
2. In previous reviews people have complained about the two small lifts. These lifts are small but there is a very large lift just round the corner from the rear entrance that serves the car / coach parking area. This is the lift that you have to use to access the Sporting Club.

In the restaurant if you are lucky enough to have Mauro as your Head Waiter then you are in for a great time. A consummate professional added with wonderful humour made our stay complete.

Room tip: The room's on 4th floor with lake view are best

This hotel is majestic in style and elegance. The public rooms are beautifully furnished and the decor relates to a time when hotels of this type were very fashionable to travellers embarking on the grand tour. The bedrooms are also well furnished and most comfortable. The en suite bathrooms are rather cramped but adequate. Our room had a balcony overlooking the gardens and we were able to enjoy the late afternoon sun from here.

We travelled as part of a tour group and the table d'hote menu we were provided with each evening had only two choices. The food was rarely hot when served and was rather disappointing. It certainly did not match the grandeur of the rest of the hotel. However it is my view that the hotel were working to a rather limited budget that had been dictated by the tour company and had we had the opportunity to dine from the a la carte menu I think we would have had better fare. Despite the disappointing food the staff at the hotel did their level best to make our stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. Mauro, the head waiter, needs special praise for his hard work and ever cheerful manner.

Room tip: Rooms overlooking the garden have no traffic noise and enjoy the afternoon sun

We stayed for 3 nights in the regina palace with our son, 20months old. We had a room lake view which was quite small once the cot was there (note you need to pay an extra 25€/might for the cot). The room was nice, without being outstanding (not the best comfort, A/C didn't work). Service in the restaurant was very nice, especially in the Charleston which is quite high-end and where we were still very welcome with our son - they provided special dishes for him and gave him crayons and books to play with while we had dinner.
The swimming pool area is nice for a quiet time but note that it doesn't have a view on the lake as it is located behind the hotel.
The best feature of the hotel is its location, walking distance from the city center (3min) and from the pier to the islands borromeo

Just returned from a lovely holiday staying in this hotel as part of a Riviera Travel Group. I emailed the hotel before arrival, mentioning our anniversary and they kindly upgraded us to a beautiful room overlooking the lake. Restaurant staff could not have been kinder and ambience in the hotel itself, could not have been more opulent. Location of the hotel perfect for a wander into the town itself. Will definitely return, if ever in the area.

Room tip: Upper floor, overlooking lake
