I can confirm that earlier contributors have judged this hotel correctly, having read many of their positive reports before booking, the hotel was exactly what we expected, apart from some minor issues we experienced during our stay which may be of interest others that follow.
We had a lake view room on the first floor, as a result all the waste water from the higher floors had to exit the building via our bath room, which being a busy popular hotel was often in the extreme early hours of the morning. I do not know how other hotels prevent this occurring but "if you will forgive me" not being in the first "flush" of youth ourselves must be possible as it has never caused us sleepless nights in any other hotel we have used.
Table service at the evening meal was initially too intrusive, we felt rushed into making our meal selection and water and wine was readily poured for us if, or if not, when we wanted it however this was far preferable to the careless attitude that developed as soon as some local "celebrities" arrived. We and others at tables adjacent to us, were treat with complete distain in comparison to a table of 4/5 Italians and a single elderly lady that all around us
presumed must be the owner of the building. My wife and I, like many others are in the habit of showing our gratitude for the service we have received with a tip at the end of our stay, I am afraid we did not feel this to be justified on this occasion.
These issues did not distract what was our second wonderful holiday in Stressa.

Room Tip: Lakeside room essential

We have stayed in this hotel several times over the years. That we have returned many times speaks for it's self. Its position overlooking the lake, a short walk from the town centre and ferry terminal makes it ideal for travelling around the area. The reception area is welcoming and the staff helpful and efficient with good knowledge of the local area and things to do. There is a very relaxing ground floor bar with friendly staff. The restaurant overlooks the lake, food and service excellent, and well managed by the maitre'd. They have an excellent cellar.

The bedrooms are comfortable, well equipped and clean, also the bathrooms which have a spa bath. The Zanetta run a very fine hotel.

Room Tip: Top front floors have fine views over the lake,

I can't say enough about this surprising gem ashore Lago Maggiore! We booked not knowing anything about the property, planning to attend a friend's wedding on site, and when we were arrived were so pleasantly surprised. The staff was so welcoming and genuine. The modern rooftop with stainless steel overlooking breathtaking views of the lake and mountains is a startling juxtaposition with the rich, old world interior, yet it somehow blends perfectly. Admittedly the rooms could use an update, but everything was clean and well maintained. We were there in the Fall, but I can imagine how amazing the hotel must be in peak season! Additionally, it's extremely close to the train station, which was a great bonus.

The lobby is very beautiful. There's a lounge right next to the reception where one can enjoy a cup of hot coffee or wine. The lobby is furnished Victorian style and very stylish.

Rooms come with a balcony, overlooking the lake which is very romantic. Clean and well furnished rooms. There's jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. Comfortable beds and pillows.

I stayed 2 weeks in Italy from Lake Maggiore to Rome. The best hotel experience of the 2 week trip! Beautiful location, super friendly staff, couldnt ask for a better 2 nights in paradise. My wife and I usually leave the do not disturb sign on our door, it was as if we had personally insulted the house cleaning staff that we didn't want our room refreshed. We gave in and let them do it:)

We stayed our first 3 nights in this hotel after a very long flight then drive from Australia - it was v relaxing .We had a side room and the view was great-most of the time was up on the new rooftop bar-spa area - the fitness centre would inspire any one to do some exercise -but we found a jog and using the outdoor prominade exercises much better to lose the jet lag.
Breakfast buffet v generous and fresh fruit was great. Can not fault. Except the showers are a bit unusually placed and spray over the floor .

We stayed 5 nights at La Palma. We had a front lake view in this beautiful hotel. The views are gorgeous from the balcony and also the newly renovated rooftop area with bar and wonderful sitting areas. The room was spacious and very clean. The breakfast was delicious with many choices, including fresh fruit and some of the best croissants we had in Italy. The location is close to shopping and restaurants and the boat dock to tour the three beautiful islands. Borroni Travel is also located shortly down the street, which we used to conveniently book excursions and driver from the Milan airport to La Palma. The hotel staff was always very friendly and helpful and it was a nice surprise to see a wagging tail behind the evening desk, offered by Whiskey, "part-time canine assistant manager." We would definitely stay at La Palma again on our next visit to Lake Maggiore.

Room Tip: Lake front view was fabulous.
