“Great Creme brule for a reasonable price”
Reviewed 21 July 2011

This was a great, quieter restaurant in downtown Milan. The staff were very friendly to non-Italian customers and made us feel at ease.

“Homemade cooking by grandma - no menus, English or tourists!”
Reviewed 5 July 2011

This place was everything I expected Italian cooking was suppose to be. Homemade, warm, and easy going.

The place is run by an older lady -she's the manager, host, and waitress! Make sure to make a reservation.

One of the greatest things about this place is that there is no menu! Basically, she comes up to your table and says, "hey, this is what I'm serving tonight". I absolutely loved it! the wine was served in a pitcher. There wasn't any of that nonsense of opening the bottle at the table side and waiting for my approval to continue to pour.

She had two kinds of pasta; once you chose your pasta, you the choose your sauce. We had macaroni with a spicy tomato sauce and gnocchi with pesto - yum!

Tiramisu is a must.

Oh yeah, no take outs. She wouldn't let us order to go. Love it!

“Simple and tasty grandmum's cooking”
Reviewed 4 July 2010

We arrived at the restaurant in late afternoon, and we had to wait and walk around as it opens after 20:30 but it worths the wait... Very simple decoration and style of a few decades before, but the tastes are real and home-made. We had spaghetti and macaroni, both very good, and prosciutto plate (cut from a big piece, just in front of us!). The desserts were also good (although the "famous" here Tiramisu was not that special, as the cream was bit warm).
Prices are low (just Euro 30, for two people, including wine). The lady owner is funny, but doesn't speak English, and this is something you have to be aware of, as if there wasn't a very kind woman next to our table to transalte to us, we wouldn't have any idea what to order!!! Although, I asked for English menus, she said they didn't had any...

“Amazing good food for an amazing low price”
Reviewed 27 May 2010

Make your reservation in advance. We entered the restaurant at 20:15 hour and were the first guests of the evening. The restaurant is decorated very modest in the believe that the food must make the impression, not the interior. It’s therefore not a chique restaurant. At 21:00 hour the restaurant was full with Italian guests. Good sign. The lady of the house (owner) is really friendly, but speaks only Italian. Ordering was difficult. There is no menu and you can’t check the prices. But ordering was made easy when the owner took us to the kitchen so we could point out the food we liked to eat. You can choose between 4 or 5 dishes.
The food was amazing. The tagliatelle and gnocchi was prepared and presented very “down the earth” like it should be, resulting in amazing flavours and textures. Nothing fancy added to distract you from this honest food. The bread smelled amazing too. Carpaccio was excellent, like the choices of cheese. With nice water and white wine we paid € 34.50 total. Amazing good value for an amazing good dinner. Very highly recommended, no even better, a must-visit restaurant in Milan.

“They won't take care of you”
Reviewed 24 May 2010

We were upset that we booked our table at this restaurant leaving a message on their answermachine, but they never called us back to tell us they couldn't accommodate us. So we spent about £15 on a taxi getting there only to be turned away and told they were fully booked when we arrived very early in the evening (7pm). We were absoutely stranded, the taxi had gone, and we didn't know which direction to walk in - the streets around this restaurant are quite suburban and there are no taxis plying and frankly we were quite frightened - we were two women and we found ourselves walking around for about an hour hoping to find something like a taxi or a metro. A horrible experience. I ended up in tears with my feet aching. At least they could have pointed us to somewhere or given us directions. They obviously have absolutely no idea what it is like to be stranded in a foreign city when you are tired, and don't know which direction to walk in. NOT a nice place, NOT kind people. NOT recommended. An absolute no no for tourists.
