“Great value, nice rooms, excellent service”
Reviewed 5 June 2011

I have stayed at the Crowne Plaza Milan City Hotel twice for business, and I will definitely return. The staff has always been extremely helpful and accommodating. Dinner at the hotel far exceeded my expectations for a hotel restaurant. There is a small but clean fitness area on the top floor with floor-to-ceiling windows and a great view. The metro station is about 1 meter from the front door. The rooms were nice for the price, with especially spacious and well appointed bathrooms. There are some very good restaurants within a very short distance from the hotel. The location is not exactly exciting or central to nightlife, but that is certainly no fault of the hotel. With the metro so close, and with taxis arriving in 3-4 minutes on average, it is easy to get to wherever you need to go.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. The rooms are ultra-modern and spacious, and the location is excellent. Its only a 5 minute walk from the main train station and the nearest tube/metro station is just outside the main door.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating and were more than happy to look after our bags after we checked out as we still had some more sightseeing to do before our flight.

This is first and foremost a business hotel so not the typical touristy or quaint hotel but we chose it because it is located right on a metro stop. Aside from cleanliness, proximity to a metro/tram/train station is the first thing we look for, and it makes it convenient to go back to the hotel as needed. Also walking distance main train station. The room was a bit small but otherwise a nice hotel as you would expect it to be. We were in a room no facing the street which turned out to be louder as there was loud music playing from a neighboring building late into the first night.

Not exactly in the city centre, but still in a walking distance. Good position for trips to Lago Maggiore (Stresa) and Lago Como (Como) by train if you want to escape from the noisy Milano for a while (Central train station is 5 minutes walk, btw. airport shuttles from Malpensa stops there as well).

Rooms and service is excelent as usual in Crowne Plaza hotels, there is nothing to ad...
Stuff is very friendly and helpfull.

Overal its a great place to stay in Milano even for leaisure, but you need to count with walking 5-10 more minutes to get to real city centre and slightly higher price.

Just finished our stay here after a long weekend. Good hotel and being literally above the metro (Sondrio) has been very handy to get around for just a few euros a day.

Only issue is that it has been hot these last few days and the AC is struggling to keep the room cool.

This was our first trip to Milan (we came back on Monday) and I think I can safely say it will be our first of many. I would not hesitate to stay in the Crowne Plaza Hotel on my next visit.

We walked from Central Station to the hotel, although you can take the Metro if you have a lot of heavy luggage, and get off at Sondrio on the yellow line, which is directly below the hotel, could not be any closer! Central station is about a 4 minute walk away, absolutely ideal for getting trains.

The hotel receptionists spoke very good English, warmly welcomed us, and quickly checked us in. We got the lift to the 6th floor, and to our room (611).
The room was a good size, with a double bed and a looming mural of a woman's head and shoulders above it, which I really quite liked! The air con was a very welcome addition too.

The television was above the desk and chair area (there were two chairs in the room) and had a good few channels, in Italian, French, German and three English speaking channels, mainly news related. You can even set your alarm on the television, look at your bill (drinks at the bar and mini-bar are added to your room tab) and use the Internet. A wee note though; the welcome book states the Internet is free in each room...it isn't, so make sure you check with reception for rates.

The room had a tea and coffee making area, with complimentary bottle of water. There were herbal teas and decaff coffees too. Underneath that was the mini-bar fridge, which, as hotel mini bars go, wasn't really that expensive. Local beer was €3,50 and a soda was about the same.

The cupboard (with a light which came on when you opened it) had removable hangers, and an ironing board with a great iron, which we used a few times. A robe and slippers were also provided.

The bathroom, sizable again, had all the things you'd need; shaving point and mirror, large cosmetic mirror, shelving, toiletries such as soap and shower cap, a bath with hand shower and a large waterfall shower head too! The toilet and bidet were there too, of course! Towels were changed every day, as long as you left them on the floor for the maids.

The drinks at the bar were rather more expensive, with a Jack Daniels coming in at €10. We did drink there a good few times at night though, and they served lovely coffees which weren't too pricey. The lobby/bar area had a LCD screen with fish swimming around on it, and a very nice toilet area (the door is glass and you probably don't think it will open, but walk up and it will!)

The terrace was also lovely, beautifully tiered so you could sit at different levels, and the couches were soooo comfy! Had to stop ourselves dropping off to sleep whilst sitting listening to the relaxing music being played!

We were a little disappointed that the area didn't have any supermarkets, only tobacco and lotto shops and a few cafes, which we never ate in, preferring to go to the Duomo square. However we did eat in Terraferma restaurant on our last night, which was absolutely amazing! Pricey, but really genuinely the nicest food I had in Italy, and right on our doorstep. Please go if you get the chance!

Overall, this hotel is clean, very well located, Metro stop a step away from the front door that takes you to the Duomo in 5 short stops (10 mins max) and only €1 a trip! The staff were courteous, helpful and accommodating. Although a chain of hotels, which perhaps isn't traditional or 'romantic' as you would imagine an Italian apartment to be, it was perfect for us.

Room Tip: We can only tell you what we know, so ask for 611!

A very conveniently located hotel, right next to Sondrio Station; just 10 mins away from Stazione Cadorna by taxi for Malpensa Express. The room is modern and bright. the bathroom is spacious and clean. Staff were helpful. The food available at the lobby bar was limited but good in taste. Glad to have stayed this hotel during our very stay in Milan. Highly recommend this hotel.
