A friend and I stayed at B&B Althea November 2012. It is one short bus ride from the Linate airport, and tucked away on a quiet side street that is still a 5 minute walk from many bus lines and the Metropolitana that takes you all over. Within 10 minutes youre at the Duomo, etc.

Beatrice is the host with her dog Ned and cat Sophia- both whom we fell in love with. She gives you keys to enter the apartment building and your room (she has a separate entrance for her part of the apartment- its split levels). Therefore you come & go as you please.

You have your bedroom, bathroom and living room to yourselves. All of which are clean, decorated quaintly & meet all needs. Beatrice welcomes you with a map & directions on which bus lines to take, etc. She goes above & beyond what you ask her- looking train times for you, etc. Breakfast is served when you request, and is delicious fresh breads & croissants with jams and jellies. Fresh coffee and juice. Fresh fruit salad & yogurt. Best out of ANY B&B Ive been to.

Overall, Beatrice is so welcoming & provides such a fantastic B&B experience we recommend her to everyone! We made sure to book with her the night before we left as well!

This review is LONG overdue! We traveled in October 2011 and stayed for three nights. Beatrice welcomed us into her home and ensured that we had an enjoyable stay. From the moment we came in, she sat down with us and gave us much needed information about Milan and things to do while we were there. There is only one guest bedroom and although Beatrice lives there too and the bathroom is outside of the room, Beatrice's room and bath are on another floor so we had a lot of privacy. The room's decor was simple but the room was very clean, the bed was wonderful, and had amenities such as AC/heat (I can't remember if both but I know we were able to control the temperature of the room), TV, and biscuits/cookies and a kettle to boil water for tea (there were teabags for us in the room. The bathroom was also nice, standard. The breakfasts were very healthy and included granola-like cereal, yogurt, an assortment of breads and jams, and fruits salad. I was very impressed with Beatrice because the first morning, I ate most of the fruit except for the grapes (didn't like them). The second morning, Beatrice had prepared fruit salad WITHOUT the grapes. That was a really nice touch and I never forgot that. There was also coffee, tea, and a fruit juice. Another thing that Beatrice did that no other B&B we had stayed at while in Italy had done was clean our room and bathroom, including replacing our biscuits and tea (and I think she even put extra biscuits for us!). This was the last B&B we stayed at in Italy before returning home and Beatrice was the perfect hostess, making for a nice, relaxing place to stay. Thanks, Beatrice!
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE: Parking was a little tricky but could be found within a few blocks of the building (Althea is in an apt/condo type building), neighborhood was very safe and building was in a very residential area, and to get to Althea, you go up an elevator, up (or down, depending on which floor you end up on) a very short flight of stairs, and you're there. You also have to go up a standard flight of stairs to eat breakfast (it's on the second level of the Inn). Stairs are important, especially if you're seven months pregnant like I was at the time!

Althea B&B is such a pleasant place to come home to at the end of a tiring day in Milan. Beatrice is a gracious, efficient, and organized innkeeper. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated, quiet, and the bed very comfortable. There was an ample breakfast with fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, and delicious local breads and coffee.

The pretty apartment building is located in a very quiet but well situated street. There are multiple options for easy transportation to the city center: 3 bus lines plus one tram all stop within a 2-block walk. Linate airport is also easily accessible; it is a 15-minute ride bus ride, 1,50€.

There are many good dining options in the neighborhood. Locanda del Menarost, just around the corner, is a small neighborhood restaurant serving delicious lunches and dinners. Food and wine were first rate and reasonably priced. A bit farther away is Giardini dei Segreti, a larger place, serving impeccable local fare.

We think Althea B&B is a real find for the traveler who wants to get a feel for residential life in Milan.

Enjoyed our stay for 2 nights, our host Beatrice made us feel most welcome. Her breakfast on the balcony each morning was a lovely start to the day. Our room was very comfortable with good amenities and quiet at night. Tea and coffee amenities in our room were appreciated especially after a full day of sightseeing.

We spent two nights at Althea. There is just one room at this B&B so it is very quiet and private. It was very clean, a good sized room with a private bathroom (sink, shower, toilet, bidet). The window opens on to the street but it is a private lane so there was virtually no traffic. The room has a/c, a TV (not sure how many channels as we did not use it), and free wi-fi.

Althea is located a half block from a bus route and four and a half blocks from a subway/train stop. Either option gets you into the heart of Milan in 10 to 15 minutes.

Breakfast was upstairs on the outside terrace and was plentiful. Beatrice, our host, offered many suggestions on how to move around Milan (we did not have a car) and sights to see. Beatrice does have a small dog and a cat but they do not have access to the guest area and the only time we saw them was on the terrace at breakfast where they kept to themselves.

We would stay here again, and highly recommend it.

We stayed one night and loved it. The room was so comfortable (and cooled well by the A/C) and was quiet for being so urban. The internet worked well and we watched part of the Euro Cup on the flat screen TV. The location was good - we walked to the central city easily and cabbed back. We had a car and with Beatrice's help we found a nearby (and free) parking place. Beatrice was so sweet and knowledgeable. Her little dog and nice cat added to the happiness of our experience. Breakfast was awesome - on the terrace with plenty of hot coffee and bakery goodies and fruit. For the price, this was a true find in Milan. Thank you to Beatrice and to Trip Advisor!

While wife and I stayed only for a night in Althea, we have to say, it was probably one of the fastest hotel that we got comfortable in.

Located just off Via Archimedes (Via Ozieri is a private street, so plan your route first before heading down), Althea B&B is a 5-7min walk to nearby Metro Dateo so heading to the major tourist sites via Metro is easy.

Entrance to the B&B is relatively tight and has stairs, so it is advisable to stay with back packs. some lifting of wheeled luggages might be needed. Once inside, room is very clean and cosy, and attached toilet and shower is very clean as well with quality fittings. Bed is the cleanest and most comfortable I have slept in Italy, surpassing that of some business hotels. Found out later that this used to be owner Beatrice's son's room, which she converted to welcome travellers.

Most importantly, owner of the B&B, Beatrice is the key reason why we wished we stayed longer (we were only there for a day before our flight back home). Ever a kind lady who made sure your needs are attended to, Beatrice is very considerate and is a great conversationist, someone we would have loved to chat over a cup of tea with in her beautiful balcony/ garden. Not to mention her cute cat Sophia. :)

Beatrice, thank you for opening a part of your home for travellers like us. We hope to welcome you with the same kind hospitality if you should ever visit us!
