“What a discovery!!”

A short visit to friends in Milan who took us to Amarcord - very good food, very good service - great atmosphere and so friendly. Can't wait to go back and have already recommended it to a member of the family who is often in Milan.

“it truly deserves a much higher rating”
Reviewed 19 July 2012

To start off, our original plan was to dine at a nearby restaurant that is ranked in top 5 in TA. But that place was closing down for the night and will not take anymore diners, not a problem, the staff there was extremely apologetic and polite. We asked for a nearby recommendation and without hesitation, he pointed us here.

The owner or person in charge, think his name is Constantino is an extremely well-liked host. Many local dine there and they're like one big family (he would give shoulder rubs to old pals and share laughs, too bad I don't speak Italian). He would also chat with new visitors, but only lightly so you won't feel intrude.

He loves all his food there, so everything is "excellent"; some of them are, others weren't bad either.

Mussels appetizer - AMAZING! simply put, this is the best I've ever had. It was very fresh and the sauce was excellent as the dip for mussels, too strong if you want to drink it as soup. For this dish alone I went back again on the same trip. Unfortunately, they did not have it the second time.

Tomato & mozzarella - unlike traditional restaurant where the tomato slices are massive, they are regular sized. They serve it when they are a little raw (so more chewy unlike the ripe ones and mozzarella is fresh and light. two thumbs up.

Lobster Speghatti - it's not bad, but we were at another restaurant the night before where it was perfect. Here, the lobster is fresh, sauce on lobster was very tasty, the spaghetti was al dente. Only setback was the sauce became blend on the spaghetti. Truth is, this was good, but when you have something extraordinary just the night before, you too would become picky.

Clam linguine - The sauce is very similar to the mussels. So it's very good if you like pasta with a heavier dosed sauce, clams again is fresh.

Pepper steak - I love it that in Italy, no one ask you how you want your steak cooked. It's medium-rare and it's excellent. The fresh fried chips was a little ordinary for me, I would actually request a change to something else.

Grilled Vegetable - This is grilled and un-sauteed. it's cooked a little burnt so some will like them, so won't.

Desert - I'm not a big fan but my wife and friends ordered a panna cotta and something chocolate with cream stuffed inside. Well, the Panna Cotta was ordinary (they ate the whole thing) and the other was just a chocolate powder based cream puff - the cream puff tasted like something packaged from a supermarket. so... everyone took a bite and left the rest on the table.

Needless to say, it was extremely satisfying and is now on our "must dine" like when we visit Milan.

“Fantastic”
Reviewed 20 August 2011

I was on holiday in Milan. I had the pleasure of eating with friends in this small restaurant. The food is of excellent quality, abundant quantities, various types of wines, table service is timely. A satisfaction of the palate and the wallet, because the price for a full meal may be about 25/30 euros.
You are left with feeling warmth and friendliness. I recommend it if you visit in milan Enjoy

Reviewed 19 July 2011

I'm in Milano for my job and when i am in this city i always eat in this nice restaurant near Loreto place metro 2, here you can found great fish food and typical italian food and food wine, with very gentle waiter, if you will go in Milano i suggest you this restaurant for a nice lunch or dinner. There is a good place in open air for a summer night.
