We stayed at Camperio twice in 2010.

If you are in Milan for leisure, the location cannot be beaten, it's right in the centre of the city, yet it offers affordable parking options (24 euro/day). The Duomo and shopping areas are just 10 minutes away (walking).

We stayed in a regular room the first time, and were upgraded to suite the second since the standard rooms where undergoing renovation - which is most likely completed by now. The hotel feels homey - in fact it is a home for someone staying long term in the same building - but don't be fooled by the small number of staff: they will cater to all your needs. In fact, they proved courteous and responsive from the very beginning.

Our stay was very comfortable both times. The standard rooms are very large and have a separate living room and bedroom. The suites are huge and come with a fully equipped kitchen (with a much appreciated Nespresso machine). Both have tv with a variety of international channels. Unless you need the extra space, the standard room is good value for money. I think we paid about 190 euros the first time, and 180/280 (after extensive negotiation...) the second to book a standard for us and a suite for our family. As mentioned, we were eventually upgraded to a suite. Check the prices on their website as sometimes they are better than what they offer in person or by email.

There is no restaurant but they have a menu and provide room service, which we tried in one occasion. Somehow, I still remember that the risotto was salty, but it was a tasty and reasonably priced solution.

Breakfast is served near the reception area. It's a real Italian breakfast with dairy products and cookies/croissant/bread. Great for us, but you won't find eggs and bacon if that's your style.

Overall, it's very close to the 5-mark, but it's not a real hotel with all the services and facilities that come with it, hence the 4.

One more thing: we booked a room via internet (non-refundable fare) last June ('11) and within a day we had a change of plan and couldn't stay any longer. I contacted them and we were fully refunded. Not sure it was a preferential treatment because of our previous stays, but they were certainly very accommodating.

We will definitely stay there again in the future.

Positives: Our one bedroom apartment (one of the larger ones in the complex) was large, recently renovated, clean and well appointed; air conditioning was effective; quiet location, easy walk to Brera and Duomo; helpful staff. Negatives: Cleaning staff entered the apartment despite our 'do not disturb' sign; drainage was an issue in the shower (ie it did not drain well).

We booked a three-night stay here in June through Tablet.com and were not disappointed. Our suite was nicely decorated with a kitchenette, bedroom and sitting room that provided a comfortable separate sleeping area for our teenage daughter. The hotel is on a quiet street, but just a short block away from the metro station and within easy walking distance of the Duomo and other central city attractions. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The breakfast buffet was top quality with a good selection of pastries, cereals, yoghurt, etc. and a couple of hot items, plus made-to-order cappucinos and espressos. We will definitely stay again when we return to Milan.

Room Tip: I don't think the room sizes and configurations are entirely standardized, so I would advise mak...

Our family of 4 have just returned to Australia from a terrific holiday in Italy. We started and finished our holiday in Milan. Camperio House was one of very few hotels that could take our family in 1 room. We stayed in 2 different delux suites and loved them both. They are very spacious rooms. Facilties were excellent - breakfast was one of the best we experienced on our holiday, we were able to use their washing machine and dryer and all with extremely friendly and professional service. Location was ideal. We look forward to returning again some day.

Anyone familiar with travel in Europe learns that A/C is only A/C if the owners of the building turn it on. Unfortunately the management of Camperio seem to hope that their guests won't know the difference between 'fan' and 'cool' functions of an A/C unit. Our 'romantic' getaway was unpleasant because the nicely decorated room was stiflingly hot, and opening the window for 5 minutes resulted in us having to hunt down 16 (count 'em!) mosquitoes that were breeding in their window boxes. The hot room ensured that we sweated more than slept there. The Camperio staff had been very nice until we mentioned the issue with the A/C (or lack thereof). Our hopes for finding a solution were first met with denial that there was a problem, then different stories of why it didn't work, and finally complete dismissal. "Why are you bothering me?" and "You shouldn't be bothered by the mosquitoes" were actual responses we received. They did offer us a useless insect repellant plug-in (and called it a mosquito-machine). Some solution. For almost 200E p/n one expects better service. That said: Camperio is in a nice location, and it is decorated nicely. If they would use a little of their decorating budget to run their A/C they may have had a return customer.

The Hotel was very well situated: 5 min walk from the duomo and right by the Via Dante (also a nice shopping street). Also, it was in a nice part of Milan called Brera, where you can find really nice cafés and restaurants. It's a very lively place and tipically italian.

The Service was also good: the staff was very friendly and the room was pretty big, and very clean. The only thing is that there was some kind of problem with the air-conditioning. It made a really strange and lound sound when we turned it on.

All in all, we stayed 2 nights and it was really worth it. We saved a lot of money on taxis :)

We booked a deluxe room and were very disappointed to get a very tiny room, no more than 8' wide. We could barely walk around the bed. The AC was anemic and we were very hot at night. It was well decorated, but thank goodness we only had to stay there two nights. No kitchenette. Just a small fridge that would not chill our wine and a kettle, but no coffee and only one cup.
The only thing this hotel has going for it is a convenient location.

Room Tip: Do not book from a website. Maybe if you contact the hotel directly, you can actually get a decent...
