“Great hotel, terrible location”
Reviewed 17 September 2013

I stayed here for one night, as I had an early flight out in the AM. The property itself is excellent. The lobby is spacious, immaculate, modern, with excellent front desk staff. The breakfast buffet was very, very good. The room was larger than average, pristinely clean, with a great bed, great bathroom. It would be perfect, except for where it is located. I definitely wanted to see the city center, and I don't mind walking. They told me at the front desk that it was not possible to walk there, it would take hours, and I'd be going through some neighborhoods they wouldn't recommend. Yet, there is virtually nothing in the neighborhood itself. You either travel, or eat at the hotel. I didn't want hotel food, and since I can walk I headed downtown.

I can confirm that the area is a bit seedy, and it took hours to make it downtown. I paid about 15 euros for a cab back. Some flight attendants were staying there and so I thought perhaps it's convenient at least to the airport (Linate). It wasn't the cab fare was very high. I would give the hotel itself five stars based on its quality, but do to its location, it's really not a good choice of a place to stay to experience Milan, or if you want to be near the airport.

Stayed here from Sept. 5 to 8 2013. was in Milan for the F1 race.

Location:

Many people complain about the location and while it is not in central it is still great. From central train station a taxi cost me 12.85 Euro and about 10 minutes. There is a shuttle at the hotel that takes you to Milan Certosa station and from there it is 2.50 Euro and 3 stops to Milan Garibaldi central station 10 minutes. you can walk to Certosa station as well, about 8 minutes and there is a Penny market on the way to buy cheap water and food. at the end of the street of the hotel about 5 minute walk there is a Mcdonalds as well. There is a tran accross the street from the hotel that takes you directly to the Duomo. 20 stops and about 20-25 minutes. I enjoyed this ride as then i got to see a lot of Milan from a locals perspective.

on friday and saturday evening there were about 3-5 prostitutes on the street about 100 meters down from the hotel. It didnt bother me but maybe others. They dont bother you. i passed them a couple times going to the mcdonalds, some wont even look at you and some just kind of make a psssssttt noise, you just kindly say no or shake your head and they turn away from you. i never felt unsafe or scared out and around the hotel even coming back from the train at midnight alone.

Staff/Facilities

The women at the front desk when i arrived was very helpful and friendly, Matilde was her name. She spent lots of time looking up train schedules for me going back and forth to Monza for the race and even helped me quite a bit for my journey to Bergamo to catch my flight.

If you are using your HHonors for a room here like i was it will be a security deposit of 60 Euro, which was back on my card 2 days after check out. I also had to pay 5 euro per night tourist tax. the tourist tax was just taken out of the 60 euro deposit and left over put back on my card.

overall i would recommend this hotel!

Stayed here in late June 2013.
Convenient location just off Viale Certosa where you gan get the tram or a taxi in to town.
The room I was allocated on the 2nd floor was large, clean and overlooked a central courtyard area. The facilities were pretty much as described on the web site, the staff very pleasant and happy to help.
The decor and general appearance was good/new.
by Italian standards the breadfasts was quite good but due to the choise of other eteries in the vacinity I never took dinner in the hotel.
I will definately use the hotel again.

Room Tip: I stopped with several collegues of differing nationalities and it seems all of the rooms are of a s...

It's a treat to stay here, the rooms are spacious, clean & new, equiped with most complete amenities compare to other hotels in europe, wifi free with adequate speed ( but I found out later that in certain locations/rooms, the wifi speed is faster). The lift is also spacious and can accomodate the whole family include our luggages.
The cookies as expected when one check-in in every Doubletree is yummy, maybe it will taste better when warm.
Breakfast menu varied and wonderful.
The soap, lotion and shampoo provided is of good quality, I love the smell.
The staff too are very friendly, we book 1 double room and 1 triple room and since their triple room is not available, they gave us 3 rooms instead, so generous.
As for location, we really dont' have any complain since we came in by group tour and there is a coach picking and dropping us.
I and my family really enjoy staying here and recommend this hotel for families.

The hotel is very nice, clean, comfortable, quiet respecting Hilton standards. The bad thing about the hotel is the location where you can reach either by cab or by tram no 12 you can take from Duomo Plazza (more than 20 tram stations, about 35 minutes). There are no so many choices in the neighborhood where you can have lunch or dinner. I recommend it just for few days to stay if you visit Milan.

Room Tip: I took a standard room which was great.

Very nice hotel to the usual high Doubletree standard.

This has one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. It fails to get five stars because the location is a little bit in the middle of nowhere (not really in the centre but not really in the business district, not really in a very nice area either) although this means it is quite convenient to go most places and the parking is free and easy.

No complaints, but for the price I paid I was expecting a slightly more upmarket location and a bit more ambience in the actual hotel.

The hotel is very nice. Rooms are a good size as are the bathrooms. Breakfast is good and the restaurant on premises has good food. Bar service is very slow in the evenings. The location is bad. While you are a 5 to 10 min walk to the tram, it is not a nice walk. If you are good with taking taxis, the front desk can get you a taxi in less than 5 min. however, if you want to walk to downtown Milan, stay somewhere else.
