“Don't feel safe here.”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

Staying here for two nights with my sister. Got a good rate and it's really cute. Agree with the other reviewers that it's not clear that this hotel is a block and a half away from the Galleria, and more of an apartment. There are no keys -- only a code that you punch into a keypad outside your room. You punch in your code, it buzzes loudly, and you push open the door right into the room. We learned the hard way that they do not change the code between guests.

It was about 10:30 at night and we were lying on the bed watching tv. Suddenly the entry buzzer went off and a random person walked into our room. She immediately waved, apologized, and left, but we were left wondering how that could happen and if it would happen again.

I immediately called the front desk and explained the situation. The receptionist wasn't sure who it could have been, and said that she would send someone to change the code. When the bellman arrived to change it, I asked who else had the code. He said he wouldn't know. I asked if they changed it between guests and he said that they did not.

Don't feel safe here. Won't return and can't recommend.

Room Tip: Not safe. Do not recommend.

The room we had was a walk away from the Galleria. Push button codes to get into the building and room. We were surprised by how large and modern the room was. When we first arrived in our room we noted that the doors to the courtyard were stuck and could not open. We were told someone would be in to open them up but that did not happen the two days we were there. My husband ended up finding a broom and reached over to pry part of the door open so at least we had some light coming in. The blue and yellow lighting is pretty funky but try doing your makeup with no natural light can be difficult. Free mini bar was a bonus. Bed was comfortable and it was a great location.

The room was not in the main block, a few blocks away from Galleria. You'd find it difficult to find the check-in place, which was upstairs in Seven Stars hotel in the Galleria. The staff there will help you to bring your luggage to Town House 8 after check-in in Seven Stars.
The room was decorated trendy, and they've a self-service minibar for coffer/tea making. All the drinks in refrigerator are complimentary. The size of room and toilet were larger than what I expected. The overall quality was of 5-star standard and very impressive.
One drawback was poor noise insulation which you would hear loud door closing noise from neighbors.

I understood on booking that this was the sister hotel to the Seven Stars hotel in the Galleria. What's not clear from the web site is that it's actually located in another building a couple of blocks away, and that you have to trot your luggage through the Galleria to get there. And back again to check out.

At the end of all this, the location is terrific, but not quite what was expected.

The rooms are newly refurbished, done in a retro 1960's style with primary coloured laminates and super-graphics everywhere. My room was large, had a separate sitting area and both had large windows to the street making the apartment light and airy. The bath was large and clean, with all the typical amenities for a room of this price.

I was in Milan only for one night this time, and the location near La Scala, the Duomo and Via Montenapoleone was the selling point. I'll probably stay in a more traditional hotel next time.

Room Tip: Rooms on the street side have lots of light and air.

Disappointed by this property we stayed few years ago at the Townhouse31 which is not located in the center but it is lovely, we expected a lot from this hotel which has 7 stars, It was just another hotel, nothing special
They did accompany us to the train station in order to make sure that we got someone to help with luggage as there are not any carts to use if you have lots of luggage
That is to me the only positive

If I want an apartment I'll book one.
Our room was in a completely different building, mins from the 'main' house away.
But even there you first have to find the courtyard entrance, make your way past the inconspicuous doorman who at first glance looks like a mugger and then up the elevator where check in takes forever.
Location is great though, the cathedral is 1min away!

We just arrived to Town House 8 and upon arrival we were led out of the main building and sent 2 blocks away from the main hotel. (we found out its called "the annex"..) As the person that was leading us to the entrance of the room (by the Gray Hotel) told us this is where we would be staying, we were extremely surprised and shocked. The second floor room, when walking in, was extremely dark with NO windows in the room. The room is lit by LED lighting and has a feel of being extremely sterile and ultra modern. The room has fluorescent blue lighting in the bathroom and neon yellow accents everywhere. I was able to open a tiny door (the only view to the outside) which overlooks a service area. That is the only view we have, garbage cans, a cigarette smoking area and the sound of the kitchen below (for another hotel). I voiced my concern with the concierge and they told me the hotel was booked unless I wanted to upgrade to a jr suite. This would be another 250 Euro otherwise they had no other rooms available. After 15 minutes they called me back to inform me they could transfer to a second room for another 170 Euro per night. From this room all we can hear is pounding, service kitchen noise and the staff on smoke break talking very loudly. This is NOT what we expected. This hotel is listed as a 5 Star hotel but they cannot claim this hotel level based on the "annex". The conciere stated they work closely with Expedia and Hotels.com and they understood that no pictures were on the website or travel partners websites of their Annex. So just beware when purchasing rooms at this hotel to ensure you are not staying in the Annex.

(Lastly, we have communicated twice with the staff and they have not been willing to do anything out of customer satisfaction. I know that they will apologize for my experience and provide the "canned" I'm sorry statement but we are here for 3 days and they have every opportunity to make this right, if they choose! Until then we will stay out of our room as much as possible and NEVER return to this hotel.

Room Tip: Make sure you do ask not to stay in the Annex.
