“Good budget option”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 January 2014

Spent 3 nights here.

This is an ok hotel. We decided to give it 4 stars because it is very cheap for Milan and it is clean and modern.
The rooms are small but nice enough.
Breakfast is ok, about average.
I thought the service was good.
It's quite far out from the centre but, being next to a metro stop, is very convenient.

If we had to stay in Milan again we would definitely stay here.

However, Milan is an over rated, over priced, mosquito ridden city so hopefully we'll never be there again.

We found hotel five without much fuss - it is about 20 minutes away from the main train station which could be a dampener if you have early morning trains to catch like we did. Service at the counter is hit and miss - depending who is manning it.

Alessandra was polite generally though when asked where she would recommend to eat, she directed me to a street of restaurants.

Rooms were small and beds soft, depending on your luck. My companion's bed was firmer. The heater did not work that well.

Breakfast was lovely with freshly made croissants and a decent warm selection but be mindful that the warm selection does not get refilled once depleted. Service from Cristina was terrible, particularly - she was sullen and frowned most of our breakfast visit and was most unwilling to replenish anything at all. The guys are alot better- warmer and definitely most helpful. I forgot the name of the guy who had breakfast ready for us by 6am so we could eat before catching our train at 7.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Five on vacation in Milan.
The hotel has a convenient location, about 100 m from the Porta Romana underground station. The room was clean and comfortable, maybe a little hot because of the unusually warm winter weather, but had a balcony door that we opened before going to bed to help cool it off. The bathroom was modestly sized, but clean and well equipeed, with a sizeable shower. The staff is helpful and pleasant. A breakfast buffet was included in our room rate, and breakfast had some hot items, pastries, fruit, cereal, etc. Of course, since this is Italy the coffee bar was always open. Free WiFi is included. The only, and minor, inconvenience was a lack of storage space in the room. There was a small wardrobe to hang items, but no drawers, only open shelves.

Room Tip: A room facing the street may be noisy because of a nearby bar.

A long weekend break in Milan as a birthday treat my daughters made an excellent choice.
This is a great, small hotel to stay in with the metro is only a short distance away, and the neighbourhood has some excellent restaurants. The rooms are excellent well fitted out with mini bar ample hanging space etc.The room and shower room were good and clean. Friendly, helpfull staff with recommendations for local restaurants etc.. Breakfast is excellent with plenty of choice.

Restaurant trattoria de la trebia a short walk away gives 15% discount when you mention you are a resident at Hotel Five.

The hotel is situated just un front of the underground station, so that evert point of the town is easy to reach.. The hotel is small, the reception desk and the hall are small, bathroom and room are small too. But everything you need is there. Everything is sic and span, new and the design is intelligent. Moreover , prices are honest

A very good choice for all the reasons mentioned by other reviewers. Our room faced the interior courtyard which is more like a park shared by all the buildings on the block. It was quiet and gave you a chance to "escape" the city. The staff at the front desk were very friendly.

This is a great, small hotel to stay in if you are visiting Milano. The metro is only a short distance away, and the neighbourhood has some ok restaurants and bars. The rooms are good and clean, and I especially liked the the glow in the dark stars in the roof, when you turned of the lights at night. Breakfast is good, and the hotel can arrange for parking if you come by car.
