My husband, I, and two new friends had just spent approximately 12 hours trying to get from Ramstein, Germany to Rome, Italy. Due to the Easter holiday, most of the trains were booked and we ended up using local trains wherever we could find them. We were able to make it as far as Milan before we could not go further. The only train the following day was at 6:15 am. To say that we were tired and discouraged would be an understatement. This restaurant, Pane e Tulipani, was recommended by the hotel clerk. It is located very close to the train station. What a fantastically wonderful experience. The food was fantastic and the service was great. The guy who served our table was very outgoing. He engaged in conversation leading to me stating that I was looking forward to tasting my first "real" Italian pizza. Shortly after taking our orders, he returned with a piping hot "real" Italian pizza...for free! It was delicious; of course I shared with my husband and friends. Then our food came and there was nothing that was not delicious. (Pictures of the pizza and my food are attached). As we ate this great food, we begin to relax and laugh about the day. At the end of our meal after we had paid, we were presented with iced glasses of Limoncello. I realized that we would not have had this experience except for the problem with the trains. This was definitely the silver lining of our day. The only Con that I can think of is that the standards (for pizza and pasta) were set so high that my hubby and I have not been able to find food as delicious )-:
