“A beauty near Milan”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2013

This is one of the four Abbeys south of Milan (with Viboldone, Mirasole, Morimondo) that have marked the history of pilgrims coming into the city.
A lovely piece of history worth the visit

“...they watch you...where ever you move.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 November 2012

right...the Abbey is great but inside there is huge fresco....look at the soldiers and then move around the Church...you will see that it looks like they look at you wherever you are. Just great. Try to do a guided tour if you can, it's worthed.

“beck in the past near the city of fashion and design (here you can feed your soul with silence and contemplation)”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 June 2012

I like Abbazia because is very near to the city, but you are really.... away!
Monks stil live there. 5 years ago I standed here for dinner with them, they are very old but so nice, with a great sense of transmission of their sense of life, of thier affection for that place. Only young men from abroad decide to live there like in the 12° sec... they say 'The city now is too near'. In the claustrum (open to the public in specific hours) you can walk slowly, listening ad the rumors of plants and water; the garden is little and beautiful, the abbey in Romanic style (red bricks, white details...).
The trainline to Genova still runs too near the old bell tower. I like to help the monks community with some money to keep this place UP.... and vital

“Over 1000 years of history”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2012

This abbey is only a few kilometers out of town (south) and it is really worth visiting it for its architecture, the beautiful frescos and the overall atmosphere. Actually I wrote "average", but if the church were in other European countries.. they would surely write "very good".
