“The more I travel in Europe the more I appreciate the Milano Four Seasons”
Reviewed 20 June 2009

I am just back from another trip in Europe and found myself comparing the hotel on this trip to the Milan Four Seasons, and it made me realize how superior the Milan Four Seasons was. I realize this review is late, but I can't imagine that things have changed that much since then. I tend to notice everything badinhotels and there was nothing bad in this hotel. My room was fantastic - from the courtyard view, to the beautiful furniture, to the bathroom, to the Frette linens which appeared to be changed every day (including the duvet cover) - it was perfect. I especially appreciated the restaurant in the bar, where after a Bruce Springsteen concert I didn't look at the menu, I simply told the waiter what I felt like eating (simple pasta). I do this often with varying degrees of success (I like simple food) - and this was a huge success. This was a very expensive hotel to me (nearly $1000 a night because of the weak dollar) - but I have no doubt I will always remember my perfect stay.

I arrived in Milan over Easter Sunday/ Monday period, and was dismayed that almost the whole town was closed. (This deserves another story altogether; I am utterly amazed how the retailers in a developed city, much less Milan a SHOPPING capital, can shut down just because it's a holiday. In Asia, retailers open longer hours on holidays as that's when the business is!!) Anyway, thanks to the Hotel's central location, we were able to window shop the main shopping areas in 1 day. And because we couldn't shop, we finished pretty early and would have been bored to death if not for the hotel. The facilities, and service especially from the Concierge to make an effort to highlight what MIGHT have been open, helped us make our Milan leg a restful and enjoyable one.

Greatly appreciated is the radiator in the bathroom... always freezing after you step out of the bathtub? not here, it was nice and warm! and everything is just so put together, the nice toiletries, bathrobes, marble table top, etc... walk across and there's the walk-in closet, with the dressing table in the middle... basically the whole hotel oozed comfort... especially the bed, perfect for rest and "honeymoon activities"... ;p totally recharged us so we were able to continue on the rest of our trip energised... :)

definitely not for those on a tight budget though... it's a luxury hotel after all...

I have stayed in this hotel a few times and every time I enjoyed the stay immensely.
My applause to the staff for immaculate service, yummy breakfasts and great rooms. The hotel is totally worth every penny. The location is fabulous for shopping as it is just off the main shopping area (30 seconds walk!).
There is is no spa in the hotel. This is a bit dissapointing.

I stayed here on business with a few collegues. Its a Four Seasons with a twist as the Hotel is housed in what appears to be an old house in the centre of Milan. I loved the rooms and public areas and had a really good breakfast. Maybe a bit pricey...

We've stayed here many times. Always a perfect experience. A quiet oasis in a busy city. Well situated near the best shopping and restaurants. Large rooms, gigantic marble baths with double sinks, separate enormous tub and shower and heated floor. Large walk-in closets. Ask for a room overlooking the courtyard; street views are not as desirable. Very helpful concierges. Professional, discreet, low-key service. Milan is very expensive and the FS rates reflect that.

The best thing about the Four seasons in Milano is the location. It is ideal for shopping and for going to restaurants.

The food in ht ehotel is very average and overpriced, but there are a few local favourites around. Also the rooms are small and feel clostophobic.

Even the public areas feel small.

The service is good but too standardised to the point that it feels a little mechanical...too much training seems to be the problem.

Overall I might stay there again but I was not particularly impressed. I may try my luck eslewhere next time.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Right in the heart of Milan's most beautiful inner city quarter, the Four Seasons Hotel Milano is just steps from Milan’s famed designer boutiques and magnificent Duomo cathedral. An easy chic feel presides of the hotel's lobby and Il Foyer’s intimate bar and lounge, serving cocktails created by the bar's resident Mixologist. The scene at Il Foyer is framed by granite pillars that once supported the church of a 15th century convent, and the space flows into restaurant La Veranda, specialising in unique award-winning Italian cuisine as well as international delicacies. Tables in the restaurant look onto a meditative view of an exquisite cloistered courtyard. The Hotel offers guests other surprising experiences from a seasonal Chocolate Room created entirely in chocolate to a theme; a Chef’s Table, traditional Milanese aperitivo and cooking classes inside the restaurant’s fabled kitchen, and one of the city’s most creative banquet catering teams. Fragments of frescoes, a beautiful emblem of the building’s sanctified past, create a meditative backdrop for the Hotel's relaxed elegant interiors interspersed with classic architectural flourishes. The Hotel’s 118 rooms and suites are appointed with distinguished diverse designs and offer views over the property’s tranquil manicured inner courtyards, the exclusive street of Via Gesù and typical neoclassical Milanese rooftops or neighbouring quiet private gardens. The Hotel’s newly designed Spa, a warm and tranquil space, fluidly constructed by Patricia Urquoila within the building’s historical architecture offers therapeutic treatments using the finest skincare products as well as a Turkish bath, swimming pool, one-of-a-kind Spa Suite and a 24-hour Fitness Centre. ... more   less
