I visited this place because I read that is has a very good nightlife. I was really disappointed. There are some good places for food and drink but that's it. The area itself it is not nice at all. Nothing special to see. It is very dirty. The canals are full of rubbish. I regret for coming here. Don't waste your time visiting this place. It doesn't worth it. There are more interesting places to visit in Milan instead of this one.

Yes, the canals are dry, but that didn't detract too much from the experience. There are a lot of fun restaurants/bars in the area, and we enjoyed the aperitivo buffets. There was certainly plenty of food for the price of one drink. I imagine the area makes for a great night out with friends. Oh and check out Gelateria Orso Blanco. Amazing gelato!

Stayed in the Navigli area during a weekend away with friends. We went out during the evening and the place was buzzing lots of bars and restaurants lots serving aperitivo which was fantastic. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the Italian hospitality. Of a day if there is no market there isn't much to keep you occupied in Navigli but that gives you a chance to go and explore other areas of Milan especially as the Piazza del Duomo is only a 15-20 minute walk away (depending on his many bars you stop at on the way). My advice would be to find a hotel in the Navigli district to make the most of the nightlife and branch out from there of a day.

We went during February on a Sunday around lunch. The weather was nice and since there wasn't an outdoor market that day it wasn't busy. It was a pleasant walk around the ancient canal. The canal was full of mud and little water and there was plenty of graffiti on the buildings. Yet there was something charming about walking around with all the other people out that day. We strolled along eating our panzerotti. Others were sitting at tables enjoying their coffee. I'd say it rates at about the same as the Spanish steps in Rome. You arrive and wonder ok, we're here, now what? If you go at the time of year we went it's not as an exciting tourist stop like other places in Milan but it's nice for a leisurely few hours in an old neighborhood.

We went to navigli to walk around and eat dinner. The area is so lively. We ate dinner along the water. If you order a drink at appertif time (around 6 pm) they bring you a lot of food. Later at night there are areas that are packed with teenagers.
