“Disappointing - not a 5* hotel”
Reviewed 16 June 2010

We stayed here for our wedding anniversary. The location is ok, not the most beautiful area of the city, but very close to the main station, about ten minutes' walk from the main shopping area, and fifteen minutes' from the Duomo etc. Service is very good, just what you would expect from this sort of place.

However, the standard of our room was *very* poor for a 5* hotel - the decor was drab and tired, and the furniture looked like it would be more fitting in an old people's home, and was certainly not luxurious.

The room cost wasn't too bad, although we paid for a "Tower Suite", which wasn't worth the extra (because of the poor decor - as described above - we didn't really want to spend a vast amount of time in there).

We'd also recommend if you do stay here, don't pay for the breakfast - we had the "continental" breakfast the first day, but it really wasn't worth the money, just some small pastries, brioches and rolls (none of which were fresh), and some juice and coffee. Much better value and quality to go to a local café or bakery (we'd recommend Princi).

Not planning to stay here again.

Hotel Principe Di Savoia is a truly 5 star property. The service was friendly and accommodating all the way and the room was perfect. It is expensive (think about 47EUR breakfast) but you get Moet champagne and Cristofile silverware for this. If you value the elegant and sophisticate style, expensive furnishings, absence of “blue jeans/baseball caps/shorts wearing” loud and obnoxious patrons-this is the place for you.

I arranged a trip to a design exhibition in Milan with our Executive team staying at the Hotel Principe Di Savoia. This hotel had been recommended to me as a 5 star hotel and I was not disappointed. The service we received from the restaurant to the concierge was impeccable, true 5 star service.

The lounge area is fantastic for informal business discussions, lunch and afternoon tea, a very relaxing place to spend time for business and pleasure.

Great location to access all areas of the city and airport. I would recommend this hotel in the future.

our stay at the Principe was outstanding : service , restaurant , bar was exactly what you should expect from a 5 star esclusive Hotel . Luigi at the Salotto was Fantastic and so helpful in many ways. We where stuck (my wife 4 and myself 7 extra days ) in Milan because of the Volcanic ash, the concierge went out of the way to find us new flights and everything that we needed. We are looking forward to be back next year in April

We got a great deal to stay at this oasis in the city and am so glad that we stayed here. The rooms are delightful (full of wood and fine finishes) the bathrooms indulgent (with generous amounts of Aqua Di Palma toiletries) and the location excellent for a pleasant stroll to the centre (about 10 minutes to La Scalla). Everything else is expensive but we popped out for breakfast in the mornings and make a rule of avoiding mini-bars anyway. The Westin is across the road and we nearly stayed there. I'm sure we made the right choice and would return without question. Happy to recommend to great restaurants as well - the 'Don Carlos' for fantastic fine dining and 'Shambala' for something a bit different - a quick 'Google' will give you full details of both.

Loved this hotel. Booked online, got reasonable rate. About 240 euro a night. Upgraded at check in and escorted to our room. Very large and luxurious room with first class amenities. Hotel was 10 min walk to city center. Felt safe walking home at night, during the day cutting through the park was a nice option. Hotel offers a complimentary limo to three points in city center every 30 minutes and cabs we're reasonable. Buffet breakfast was fantastic but expensive, about 50 euro. Would recommend getting the rate that includes breakfast, ends up reducing the price by more than half for two people. I recommend using the gym, if for nothing else, the free fruit , water and juices. Bring a bathing suit for lovely indoor pool which is available til 10 at night. An espresso in the lobby will run you about 10 euro, but a two block walk in any direction will get you one for the standard 1 euro. Close by I recommend Latte Bianco for coffee, gelato and snacks. It's two blocks away and open late on weekends. For dinner, right next door is Dal Bolognese which is a formal but fairly priced restaurant with, as you might expect, excellent pasta bolognese. All in all, definitely worth the extra 40 euro a night compared to a lesser hotel in the city center. And for those of you lucky enough to live in Europe, the 199 euro weekend rate is a steal.

This is a lovely hotel but the prices are a rip off. I have no problem paying for quality but everyone wants value for money which we did not get. The continental breakfast is 35 euros for fresh fruit juice, a hot drink and a small selection of breads and pastries. Usually a good continental breakfast includes yogurt and fresh fruit. Often it includes meats cheeses and boiled eggs. We were not even given a croissant each. Shocking value by any standards. The prices for extras are unreasonably high. I expect to pay more in a high end hotel but their prices are way beyond. The bathroom was lovely but the design of the shower was so poor that a glance you could see that the water would run out all over the bathroom floor. Upside is that we got a good room rate, the bed was comfortable and the decor of the room and hotel is lovely.
