“Good but expensive”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

The best part is going in the boxes, as you would if you were a wealthy Italian! The museum part has some fabulous instruments and costumes but it is only an hour maximum to see it all, making the entry fee quite high.
Good views from the balcony to the Vittorio Emmanuel arcade.

“La Scala the great Opera House or a disappointment”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

I had to go to La Scala having been previously in Milan a number of times without being able to get in. Booked well in advance on the website - easy. Prices very expensive so opted for front row of the galleria on the fifth floor - no legroom, safety bar right at eye level, the poor people behind us had been told that their row is poor visibility that is you couldn't see the stage without standing up. The production was poor but the singing was excellent. Tried to get upgraded during the first half but told that the box office was closed - not helpful, especially as the stalls were only third full. It said on the website that there was a dress code of tie and jacket for men - not imposed! so what is the point of having a dress code. Had a look into one of the boxes to find that they also had restricted viewing and you had to stand up if you were at the back. Glad I've been but not on a hurry to go again - on the whole disappointing. If only I could have afforded a stall seat.......

“A trip back in time”
Reviewed 26 July 2014

You only got to peek into the huge red velvet theatre for a few minutes but it was wonderful. Beautiful. If you can attend an event there, do it. The museum was very interesting and historic especially if you like music and opera.

“Not worth the money”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

Cost around $10 to get in. Once in there we were told there was a rehearsal. So they put 5 of us in this one hole of a spot to see the opera house for 5 minutes. They did this for everybody! Not worth the time or money.

“Hmmm. Very fun to see the interior auditorium. Otherwise, it's not all that.”
Reviewed 24 July 2014

I think the real fun of going to see La Scala is just to imagine who has performed there and what that must have been like. Sure you can imagine that sitting in your house, but it is so much more vivid as you stand on the balcony and look down onto the stage and the fancy box seats. That was actually very cool.

But the museum part of it I was far less interested in. Perhaps if you were a huge opera fan and wanted to see posters from the old days or paintings of Maria Callas and such, you'd like it more.

Still worth seeing and singing out a quick note.
