“Good location and value, but know before you go...”
Reviewed 15 June 2014

Trip advisor reviews prepared us pretty well as to what we could expect. The location is wonderful, and the price is very reasonable. If you plan to sightsee, spend very little time in your room, and require little to no help from the front desk, it's a fair choice for low-maintenance travelers.

Foreign travelers, be advised: the front desk takes your passport to check you in. Takes without a clear sense of when you can take it back. The older gentleman didn't explain this process well at all and waived us upstairs with no further info on when we could expect to collect our passports. I was very anxious about surrendering my passport to some guy I just met- I know our state department tells us not to do that. He was impatient with me and explained it was Italian law to log our passports- which I fully understood. I would have preferred to wait for its processing in the lobby. No one wants to let their passport out of their sight (though it did turn out ok), and a hotel in a major city should understand this.

After about 10-15 minutes, I went back to inquire about y passport. The front desk clerk chewed me out about how he was only one person and had thirty passports to process- and then sneered that mine was done and I could have it back. If his English is solid enough to be unnecessarily obnoxious to me for no good reason, he clearly could have explained this process better. There was no reason for this to snowball like it did- it was a jarring "welcome," to say the least.

The rest of our stay was thankfully uneventful. Rooms are kept quite clean, and breakfast is adequate. For the price point and location, you won't do better.

- Hotel is a good choice for its location as the Duomo is very near and shops and restaurants nearby.
- Our room was big with enough space to move around and very clean and well maintained.
- Found the Reception staffs to be pretty rude and unfriendly except for Matteo. They seem to be always busy with a head receptionist and a thin lady (who seems like an intern).Ask for Matteo and you will see the difference. He is the only one who is willing to help and guide you.
- Was very upset with one of the young Italian guys at the reception. When asked for an adapter, was told the hotel does' t have any and is not purchasing new ones as guests seems to take adapters way with them. Well that's not my problem and if guests are taking them away, then the hotel needs to find a way to keep a track of it.
- When asked if the area around is safe, was told "I don't know" by Reception. Hah! Amazing!
- Ask for Kanchana in Housekeeping. Very nice Sri Lankan lady and always willing to help.
- Breakfast was good.
- Wi fi was good.

Though I only stayed one night, I found the location to be great, staff was professional, bathroom nice, room was spacious and clean (mine was not fancy, but good). Breakfast was big, and the hotel was close to the metro station, which was really helpful given my tight schedule. I'd stay again.

We stayed here for 2 nights after a long flight from Australia and were so pleased to have a large, comfy, quiet room in central Milano. An easy stroll to the Duamo from here and there so many gorgeous restaurants and shops to peruse - just loved the vibe of this unique area. The breakfast buffet was good and the staff hospitable. Would highly recommend and hope to stay here again before we fly out?

We stayed a couple of nights here which we enjoyed. The room was huge. The bathroom had a large bath. The location was good. You were within walking distance the everything and close to the station. There are supermarkets close by. The breakfast was average but adequate. Check in was quick and easy. The staff were very pleasant. The only problem we found was we could hear the man snoring in the room next door. I actually thought it was my husband but then realised it was next door. Should have packed some ears plugs. That was our only complaint. It is a simple and basic place to stay. It was clean and comfortable.

We stayed three nights at Ritter hotel. It exceeded our expectations. The room was big, with plenty of places to open the suitcases and a fairly big wardrobe. It looked like the hotel was recently renovated, not in the reception area but in the rooms.

The shower was a bit small, but no big deal.

The breakfast was good, we were not expecting anything big or fancy, so it is good for the price you pay.

The best thing, location. Walking distance to the center of Milan.

I would highly recommended to family, friends and the Tripadvisor travelling community!

Room Tip: We got a room facing the street and it was not noisy and one of the recently renovated ones.

Very basic small rooms, cheap furniture, improvised and noisy air conditioning/heating (added to the ceiling).
But, excellent location, close to the subway, close to everythyng in downtown Milano, breakfast is good and diversified and last but not least very nice bathroom.
