Reviewed 23 February 2012

We stayed in in february during the big snow thunders. Neede to say becuase I´m gona talk about the temperature in the room.
The hotel overall is very basic. Not a 4star at all. Needs some redesign asap.
The temperature in room is really low during the winter tme due to terrible airconditiong/heating plus the old building windows. We werent able to have shower during the 2 nights stay.
Breakfast is nice. But I guess that´s it. Think twice before choosing this one. Not worth the price for me.

I have seen that everybody had a great experience with this place, but my impression was terrible even without staying there: i booked two rooms that i had to cancel as we have chosen a better hotel. Due to mistake by the clerk the money for one of the rooms was still taken off my credit card. By now it has taken two months of back and forth emails and still no result. The management is extremely non responsive and keeps promising to "send money by the end of the week".
I am passing this case to fraud department by now, but a warning to other travellers: stay away from this place.

I am used to go to Hotel Mediterraneo. The reason is because It is located in my favorite area (porta Romana) and has for time to time good price offer.
Relating the Porta Romana it is worth to say taht during the day I can catch the metro and in two stops I am in the real center of Milan (duomo) and in the evening there are many restaurants, bar and a nice evening life.

POSITIVE ASPECTS: location (near metro, shopping area), very warm staff. Ask for the 5 or 6 floor with view of Duomo (really nice).
NEGATIVE ASPECTS OR TIPS:
1) sometimes is overpriced, better to check their internet discount on the net
2) you have to pay for internet and in some room dosn t works (wifi is too weak in some rooms, make sure that the room choosen has signal)
3) Breakfast tend to be no so fresh and rather basic. Instead of serving you at the coffee dispenser ask for a fresh make coffee... defenitly better
4) lifts tend to be slow expecially in the morning

I stayed at this hotel for a business trip. The hotel is of excellent quality, a few steps from Porta Romana, and therefore very convenient for travel by public transport. The rooms are comfortable, though there was a problem on the reservation, and upon arrival I was told that there were no rooms available, so I was forced to share a room with a colleague.

Decent hotel (although charging for internet access is a crime now days), fine for business, but the neighborhood is a bit far for tourists. Close to the metro (and only 2 stops from the Duomo), but not much around the area to inspire one. And have to agree with others on the cost, a bit pricey for what you get.

This is the second time I stay at this hotel and overall it is a place I would recommend . The place is clearly a bit old and probably not exactly what you would expect from a contemporary four star hotel. That said, the rooms are well kept and they are extremely clean (even though a little small). The staff is helpful and friendly.
The real hit however is the location. It conveniently located 3 minutes away from the underground and 3 tram lines. The area is also very nice, with several good restaurants and bars.
Overall I would not stay here if you are looking for a luxory experience, but it is definitely a functional place for a business trip or a short holiday. I would definitely go back next time I am in Milan.

Prior to booking this hotel, I read a lot of reviews saying it was overpriced and not a 4 star hotel. From my experience, it's true. But, if you can get it at a lower rate (any kind of special offer or discount) and if you're not aiming for a super luxurious option, this is a very nice place to stay.
Our room (a classic double room) was decent-sized with a relatively big bathroom, and clean. It was simple in design, but comfortable. Breakfast was nice and fairly rich (comparing to most Italian hotels) and the staff was polite and helpful. It might not have all the facilities 4 star hotels usually have, but it's enough for a very pleasant stay.
UNA Mediterraneo is located near the Porta Romana area, which is pretty quiet, despite being close to the central part. For those who don't feel like walking about half an hour to the center, the metro station of P.ta Romana is just a few minutes away.
This is a quiet and pleasant hotel for those who look for a comfortable, but not extremely fancy place to stay.
