“Convenient location for shopping”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 December 2012

I spent a couple of nights in this hotel for work and found it overall ok. The hotel is centrally located at the back of "Corso Vittorio Emanuele", one of the main shopping streets in Milan, and the cathedral, which makes it perfect for a shopping spree. The hotel is very popular with tourists and seems to be always very busy. Breakfast offers a good choice but is served in a small crowded area, which means that you have to fight your way through to the food among a trillion of other tourists. Service is below average, so we had to go and literally catch the waiter, otherwise nobody would bother to come and offer us coffee or anything. A positive note was that in the room you had tea and coffee facilities, which is generally unusual in Italy.
The worst was the internet connectivity offered by Swisscom, that didn't work most of the time.

Room Tip: Room facing the inner (ugly) court are very quiet, whereas rooms facing the street are extremely lou...

The Starhotel Rosa Grand is well located, in the heart of the hisorical center of MIlan. The Duomo is nearby, and so are the Vittorio Emanuele ii Galery, the Opera Teatro A La Scala, and the shopping center.
Our stay at the hotel could have been an enjoyable, but a few things stood on the way:
The poor service at the recepion (excluding one receptionist who was really great).
The dim reception. and (part of) loby was dipressing.
To reach the room we got at first we had to make a long walk through narrow labyrinth coriddors.
There was no attention to our request (by mail a few days before arrival) for a shower and not a bath. They gave us another room, near the elevator, We were told it is spacious because it is a room for disabled. On the first shower I took, the bathroom was floaded.
The room was very clean. The view - zero.
The breakfast was served in a restaurant with many niches/small rooms. The service was poor. The hot dishes included scrumled eggs and ham. but the ham was usually not tasty because it was half done. I asked for an omlette but they wanted me to pay for it. I gave up.
Coffee. The Italians start their day drinking coffee. The coffee in Italy is wonderfuI. Not In this hotel.
In short, I did not enjoy my stay at Starhotel Sara Grand.

The hotel's location is good for business travellers and for shoppers due to its closeness to main shopping area. It is a walking distance of the Duomo and has an excellent service. The food was good for its values especially the breakfast served daily with a wide variety. The room was comfortable enough after a long day filled with meetings. I enjoyed walking out of it into the adjacent buildings and Duomo, with some souvenirs shopping on my last day.

The Rosa Grand could be great, but fails at a cost to the customer paying. Not all rooms are at the standard in pictures, and feel more 2/ 3 star. The lobby is at hoped, but feels cramped with the load of waiting guests on sofas, and front staff waiting. The main thing i guess is the rooms, just make sure you ask for a modern room, which might help some what.

Breakfast was the worst, as it felt like a super breakfast japanese conveyor belt you tried to engineer each move to eat your egg.

Not the worst, but at the cost, not great and a just maybe thinks its a little too special.

If you're looking for a great location, its a plus.

Dear Mr. CostantTravelerUk,
We are pleased you chose the Starhotels Rosa Grand for your stay in Milan.
We regret to learn about your overall discontent.
Dispite of our more than three hundred rooms and our level of occupancy, our efforts are always focused on providing our Guests’ the very genuine Italian style athmosfere and our best level of service. We would like our Guests to feel welcome, important, relaxed, pampered and confortable at any stay with us and we regret to learn of any opposite feedback with regards to this.
We are very looking forward for a new occasion to welcoming you back to the Rosa Grand. We invite you to discover our promotional rate and our several packages. We won’t miss the chance to take this new opportunity to turn your current opinion into a positive one!
Yours sincerely,

The hotel is situated just steps from Duomo and some of the main shopping areas. It is nicely designed and the apertifo late afternoon is great with snacks being served with your drinks - just the thing after a hard day sightseeing/shopping.
We were initially put into a room overlooking a building site, when we asked to be moved we were informed that the hotel was full. They moved us to a room however the next day which was ok. Some of the staff on reception could be a little happier and more helpful, when we booked a room with a view - we meant a nice one and one member of the reception staff in particular did not seem happy with our complaint.
The hotel needs to ensure it staffs up for busy periods, waiting in line for 15mins for breakfast was not the best, especially when the staff are ignoring the ever growing queue.

Overall though, a good central hotel.

Room Tip: make sure you ask for a good view there is significant building work going on next door. So on the h...

This is my third stay (5 nights) and the hotel never disappoints. Located only a minute from the Duomo and one of the main shopping streets, most of Milan's attractions can be reached on foot very easily from here. The hotel decor is modern, everything works well and the beds are super comfortable. Wifi is free in the suites and the lobby. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms, a rarity in Italy and very welcome. Although very clean, housekeeping was a bit erratic (ie not replacing the Etro toiletries) but that is a minor niggle. Breakfast is generous. We shall certainly stay here again.

I've stayed in this hotel before, and I must say it became a lot stylish. The rooms were very clean, but very hotel-like. The breakfast is free, but the wifi isn't. Although its cheaper if you consider your free wifi-alternatives. Overall, it's location is probably the best part of it as its only 30 seconds walk from the Duomo.
