We stayed at De La Ville because of its location - certainly a prime spot if you like to be close to La Scala. Our room had been renovated, but I heard other guests mentioning that their rooms were sadly out dated. The renovation was not quite to my taste - more Italian design than practical function - but surely adequate. The service was a quite cool - not as friendly and attentive as you would expect in a European hotel in this price range. Gym was weak. If being near the opera is important, you might find a better choice.

The hotel is in a dream location right in the centre, but it lacks in service and is dated.

The service at check in does not make you feel welcome. Worst: The gym and pool are only open from 9am-9pm, making them very useless if you travel there on business!

The rooms are acceptable, but too small and dated for a hotel of this price point.

Breakfast feels very basic, but at least the service there is prompt and friendly!

Not quite sure we fully understand some of the previous comments made for this hotel? Seems to be some nit picking going on but after all it is only an opinion! My wife and I stayed for three nights arriving at Milan Centrale via train from Lucern, 10 minutes by taxi @ an arranged price of 10 Euro with the driver. Staff on arrival very forthcoming and friendly and believe me neither of us were dressed to impress. Room (424) was neat, clean and roomy compared to some we have stayed at in Europe. The location of the hotel is the best feature, brand named shopping, Duomo, Palace, la Scala all within close proximity and an easy stroll, not to mention the many restaurants, bars and bistros. Free WiFi in the main lounge bar area was not a major concern for us as it gave us some time to relax have a drink before heading out again. For the weary traveller be aware there are not self service laundries in the city centre anywhere so search engine "self service laundries Milan" will bring up a list of available facilities in the zones (suburbs or precincts) closest being in zone 1 about 10 minutes by taxi or via the metro line B or pay the exorbitant prices for in house laundry so typical in hotels anywhere these days.

This hotel should not be a 4 star hotel. The rating is very misleading. It is expensive for the poor standard.
The rooms are old and smell stale.. The taps in the bathroom squeak.
Upon asking for a duvet which was provided but without a cover.
No wifi in the rooms so all the visitors congregate in the lobby area. Wifi code changes everyday for every user. An archaic system!
Breakfast poor quality. No fresh juice and very little choice of healthy food options.
Gym very very small, no towels, no mates for the floor.
On the hand staff very professional and helpful. Location is a plus.

Unless you are desperate to find a place in the city center for work purposes, stay away from this place!!!!it is clean and breakfast is acceptable but it is so expensive for no wifi in room, unwelcoming staff and weird bathroom design!!!!

Room Tip: Check your room and bathroom before you enter!!!!make sure you like it for what you pay!!!!!

I loved this hotel! The location was great. The staff, amenities, food, accommodations and decor were fabulous. The staff gave us two recommendations for dinner and both were exceptional - the best meals I've had so far in my 3 month long trip through Italy.

I stayed in a renovated room and LOVED IT. No view (unless you like looking at the building next door) but who cares? The room was gorgeous. Modern graphic print wallpaper, gorgeous tufted headboard, backlit TV, King Louis chair upholstered in gorgeous navy fabric , lacquered desk with a lucite lamp and a marble-everything bathroom. After lots of older Italian hotels in villages, towns and cities...this hotel was a dream come true.

My only gripe - and it's a big one, was the Wi-Fi. It was only free in common areas, and required hourly hanging of credentials. It was a major hassle and at this price point, I think it's unacceptable for Wi-Fi to be this difficult to use.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room, if possible.

You cannot find a better location in Milan for sure.
However , when you enter a hotel and see the concierge , they remind you of the film Night Porter, at least it was my association.
Artificially kind , assessing the wallet of the guest and adapting their attitude accordingly.
It has lost a lot of its decor freshness , rooms are decent and differ in style , which is not so good , because they can give you a different room for the same price.
I asked for the top floor ,and quiet room , but got only the tops floor.
You have to add 25 euros for the garage and if you want the valet service it will cost you 40 e more .It is inappropriate for the star rating of the hotel and overall quality of the same.
We had dinner at the Opera restaurant within the hotel , decent , nothing special. The selection of wines is good , however very expensive. It should be used just in emergency situation.

Room Tip: Top floor for sure , since it is very noisy...
