“Nice room”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

Room was cleaned with air condition. Front desk lady wasn't very nice. No free wifi anywhere not even in the lobby. Other than clean room and good location, near cadorna station. I wouldn't stay here again.

The hotel itself wasn't much to write home about. Our room and the condition of the lobby furniture was a little on the dated side. That said, it was clean, in a great location, had really good restaurants nearby and it was within walking distance of all we wanted to see in Milan. It was very quiet and we did get a great sleep there, so I can't complain. "Average" seems a little low to rate it, but I think that was because the price seemed a little high compared to other places we stayed, even in Rome that were of better quality. All in all, not bad.

The rooms are nice, but the shower was incredibly small. Additionally the elevators were equally small.
The staff were pleasant and competent, and the hotel was walking distance from the train station.
I would recommend this hotel to individuals under 200 lbs.

As the story below shows, the Mokinba King has some utterly incompetent people in their staff. It is impossible to recommend a hotel with employees lacking the most basic skills in customer handling to anyone else.

1) Upon arrival on July 10th 2014, we were told that there were some unspecified problems with one floor in the hotel so we had to move to another hotel. Fair enough, but in such cases an apology for the inconvenience is mandatory,. We got none. Instead, the receptionist told us that this was "no problem". Probably correct for him, but not quite for us as the next points will tell.

2) Phone number and e-mail address were submitted when we booked. It would have been very easy for the hotel to inform us in advance about the change of hotel. Mokinba King didn't bother. Instead we battled our way through the traffic in central Milano and showed up at the hotel, only to be told we had to cross the city center again to get to our replacement hotel. With proper information we would have saved at least one and a half hours. (See next points.)

3) A driver from the hotel should show us the way to the replacement hotel by driving a lead car in front of him. I asked him to drive slowly so we didn't loose sight of him. After crossing most of the city center, including driving through a couple of streets marked "trams only" with big signs, we had to stop for crossing traffic. The lead driver was able to pass the street in the last second and disappeared out of sight, while we were waiting for the crossing traffic. We never saw the lead driver again, even though we pulled over and waited for some time to see if he would reappear. He did not, which is, of course, completely unacceptable.

4) Luckily we paid attention to where we were and knew we were not far from where the receptionist had marked the location of the replacement hotel on a map he gave us. To avoid getting into infinite loops of one-way streets, we decided to park in a parking house right next to where the lead car left us, even though we would then need to carry all our luggage some hundred meters. We finally arrived at the spot in Via Ugo Iginio Tarchetti marked by the receptionist and there was a hotel there. But it was not our replacement hotel! At this hotel we got good help and they even called Mokinba King to find out where our replacement hotel was. It was in Via Panfilo Castaldi, which meant each of us would have to carry 25 kg of luggage 500 more meters in the Milanese summer heat.

5) When we finally arrived at our replacement hotel "Baviera Mokinba" we were soaked in sweat and told our story. No apologies from Mokinba Hotels.

6) The reason to book a room at Mokinba King was the location. It is situated in between the Duomo, Castello Sforzesco and Santa Marie Delle Grazie which were our main reasons to visit Milano. All these sights, and more, are in walking distance from Mokinba King. From the replacement hotel we needed to take the metro and spend even more time on transportation on our single day in this city. Instead of admitting that we where transferred to a less central hotel, the incompetent moron of a receptionist at the Mokinba King made a petty attempt of proving the two hotels to be equal by means of location by drawing a circle northeast of the duomo and claiming that this was the main sightseeing area. He also did a similar ting with a supposed prime shopping area. How pathetic.

So this hotel is average in every way but that is perhaps not a bad thing. The place is a bit run down but it was clean. The service was good but not great. The location was good with easy access to many attractions. It was also close to a train station so transport to and from airport was very easy and affordable. So all in all it was an unremarkable place to stay. I would probably not stay there again in the future and would seek out something a little more interesting. However if you just want a good value and convenient location this place is a safe bet.

Stayed here on business may 2014.
Overtly decorated camp style Michael Jackson taste decor! Which was so kitsch it became beautiful!
My room was small, cramped and still had a smell of cigarettes..
However it was quite clean.
The best part of the hotel is the amazing breaksfast...freshly squeezed orange juice which you press yourself through a machine....lovely!
Continental buffet...with a lovely selection of gorgeous parties, fruit, cheese, cold cuts.....I would stay here again just for the breaksfast!
I was here to work but it is a great location for visiting the landmarks which sadly I didn't hae time for...within walking distance of the cathedral, leonardo's last supper etc.

Room Tip: Ask for the biggest room they have, as I was travelling alone I think I might have got a smaller roo...

We stayed here for one night as a stop-gap to facilitate a departure from Malpensa airport early the next morning. The price of this hotel was the main reason we booked it as most of the central Milan hotels charge eye-watering rates.

The Mokinba King is conveniently located for Cadorna train station and is about a 20-minute walk from the Duomo. It is set on a busy street so there is a good choice of bars and restaurants within a short stroll. The staff were both friendly and accommodating - they printed out our boarding passes which, otherwise, might have caused us a real problem (Ryanair, I'm talking to you).

The room was rather small, and the aircon was not working (or not yet activated), but it was perfectly acceptable for one night at the price we paid.

I would be happy to return to the Mokinba King Hotel for a short break in Milan.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on an upper floor - the street outside is busy and noisy well into the night.
