Due to it now being the closest hotel to the new location for my company Milan office, I have utilised this hotel a couple of times during the last few months.
It’s a standard no frills business orientated hotel and I would agree with others that about 3.5 stars pitches this place about right.
The bedrooms are sizeable and comfortable enough with the large comfortable bed being the highlight and the lack of a proper wardrobe the lowlight. But they have all the amenities usually afforded including free wifi working in the rooms and most rooms now have the new glass fronted mini fridges and tea and coffee making facilities.
The ground floor restaurant and bar area is a pleasant space but I will agree with others that the restaurant space is not big enough to cope with a full hotel and does get overrun at busy periods. The offered breakfast is good enough though.
The hotel location in the north of Milan makes it handy for the Milan Exhibition centre being about 20 minutes away by taxi and the hotel does run a mini bus during trade shows. It’s about a 20 minute (and 25 Euro) taxi ride from Linate , but if arriving at Malpensa best to take the train and one change will get you on the line to the Lancetti station just around the corner.
I wouldn’t consider it an ideal tourist hotel (unless you can get a cracking deal), due to its location out to the north of Milan but as others have said it is easy to get to the centre of town from either the Machiacini Metro station a 15 minute walk away, or utilising the no2 Tram which can be picked up 5 minutes away.
I also read with surprise the previous comments about the area the hotel is located in. As a regular visitor to Milan for the last 15 years, frankly I didn’t even consider this , let alone that it was an issue. Yes it is true this is not a smart area, being mainly offices and residential flats, but as other have said outside of Duomo square Milan is not a smart city, and grey buildings completely covered by graffiti at ground level is the norm for all Milan areas outside the very centre. I can confirm it’s as safe as any.
My previous office location was to the West of Milan close to the San Siro and we used to utilise the Grand Hotel Brun (sadly now closed ) where it was a 15 minute walk to the nearest station past the travestis on the street corners displaying their wares , and compared to this the local area of the Hotel Milton Milano is positively pleasant…
