“Very conveniently located with great service and comfort!”
Reviewed 7 December 2012

Stayed her after booking through the top secret rooms via lastminute.com. Location great for accessing the city via Metro, Immediate area not too bad,.. Watch out however for the Pizzeria and bar at No.12 which will delight in ripping you off for drinks and food and then expect a tip. overall safe enough day and night if you can avoid getting run over by enthusiastic drivers trying to get to the main station! The hotel is well appointed with all comforts, the decor is nice. We had a room on the top floor, providing fantastic views of the city. room was serviced regularly and to a high standard- when we needed to contact reception about some minor faults they were taken care of immediately. Didn't dine at the hotel so cannot comment on the food apart from breakfast which was well provided for and very satisfactory. Would certainly return if in the area again as it 'ticked enough boxes' for our purposes. Thank you to staff and management for making our brief visit an enjoyable one.

Room Tip: Head for a high floor to avoid street noise but if you go for the very top there might be some hummi...

I had a great stay here....good location, easy access in and out of the city
Breakfast was provided but no toast!
My room was very spacious but just avoid the 5th floor they like to pump up the heating in the winter!

The Anderson Hotel is opposite the central train station and bus terminal, and buses stop here going to and from the airport. Our room and ensuite were lovely, and had everything we needed. The staff were very helpful too. We had nice breakfasts, the usual plus things like cakes and tiramisu! The metro stop is at the central train station, and the metro system is very easy to navigate and cheap to use. This hotel is great as close to public transport, shops and restaurants, with fab, comfy rooms.

This was a 'mystery' hotel booked for a very good rate, all I knew was that it was close to the Central Station.
It was perfect for what I needed. 2-3 minutes from the main station and 2 metro stations.
My double room was great... everything you'd need inc. safe, robe, slippers, kettle, tv, hairdryer. Lovely bathroom and a nice bundle of towels. All feels quite luxurious.
I ate one evening in the restaurant and it was ok, not an amazing menu.
Staff were fine. My biggest issue was the charge of 8 euros a day for in-room wifi access. I've been to plenty of lower class hotels over Italy and never been charged at all. Much cheaper to use my iphone and pay my network provider. You could get 30 minutes free wifi in the lobby, but that was small and a bit of a hassle.
You do have to go down stairs to reception, but there was always help at hand if needed with luggage.
Would definitely return if I got such a good deal again - was about £60 a night on lastminute.com

Room Tip: Higher rooms may be quieter as the hotel is located over the metro lines. I was on floor 2 and there...

We have read plenty of reviews from tripadvisor about this hotel before we finally decide to book it for 3 nights. The only concern we had before we arrived was the hassle of pulling our luggage to the hotel from where the airport transfer stopped us at and also how are we going to pull the luggage down the stairs that lead to the hotel.

We took the airport transport bus to the central station. You can easily purchase the tickets at the airport. It costs only 10 Euro per pax if i can remember it correctly.

The bus stopped at the centrale which is just across the road from our hotel. It is probably just a 1 min walk and you can easily see the hotel when you alight the bus. The distance is short but do take note that the path that you walk to the hotel can be rather uneven, therefore pulling 2 huge luggage may be a little challenging.

Upon reaching the main entrance of the hotel, the staff immediately walked up the stairs and helped us to bring our luggage down. That solves every worries that we had initially! It was really not that difficult afterall!

There was this guy at the counter whom i can't remember the name, helped us with a lot of information on getting a good prepaid sim card. It has been a practice of having that since our previous trip to Sydney. Getting that is essential as we will be able to contact friends and family easily through whatsapp and even a call through Viber nd its all free! The gentlemen helped me to source for the best deal of getting a prepaid sim card which has unlimited data usage service. It cost only about 9 euros and i thought this is perfect! He even provide me with the directions on how to get to the various telecommunication company to get the sim card. Service was excellent!

The room we got was on the 3rd floor and it was perfectly fine. We do not hear the noise of the train from underground but we were able to hear it when we have our breakfast at the breakfast room which was located at basement.

The room was of an average size and we don't personally find it small since we have stayed smaller ones before. It was clean and the daily housekeeping kept our room neat and tidy.

The only complain that i have for the hotel would be the food served at the Black restaurant. There was one night where we decided to have our dinner at the restaurant of the hotel since it looks really nice and we saw the food we like on the menu placed outside of the restaurant. We ordered a pasta and a risotto, to our horror, both dishes tasted really salty! I would say that i am not someone who prefer bland food. I do like food with strong taste and i definitely prefer salty than sweet food. However the food we had is TOO SALTY that it makes our tastebud so uncomfortable. We did not finish what we ordered because it was impossible to.

If i were to return to Milan in the future, i would still stay at this same hotel but i will never patronize the black restaurant again.

Room Tip: Request for a room on the higher floor. 3rd floor is actually good enough.

Booked this hotel as part of a package and was not disappointed.
Location could not be better - 30 minute (5 Euro) bus ride from the airport and 2 minutes walk from the central station and the metro. I opted for a 20 Euro a night upgrade which got us a deluxe room and free wi-fi for the stay - well worth it. I have no idea what a standard room is like bu the DL room was fantastic - modern 4 poster bed (king size), very comfortable. Plenty of TV channels in all languages. The room even had a docking station for Ipods! Only minus point was that there was only one robe & set of slippers provided - small point but there should be 2 sets. Nice little touches such as an automatic light when opening the wardrobe, linen changed daily, cute little heart chocolates by the bed (every day) etc.

Bathroom was like the room, spotlessly clean, nice toiletries, towels changed daily. It was beautifully decorated but a bit on the small size given the ample room space.

Bar / dining area felt very plush and the downstairs toilets were of a very high standard. Complimentary snacks were plentiful and the food in the restaurant was very tasty & well prepared - great service as well.

Staff were friendly and fluent in English but happy to help us improve our basic Italian. Special mention for Giovanni in the restaurant who has a wicked sense of humour - gladly helping us to order a gin and tonic in Italian (gin e tonica by the way!! :-) )

Only minor (very) point was that if you concentrated you could actually hear the distant rumbling of the metro underneath but it wasn't intrusive - on the 4th floor we heard nothing.

All in all a very pleasant stay and it has duly been added to our list of 'must stay again' hotels - well done guys!

Room Tip: opt for the very reasonable upgrade

Nice, clean hotel right across from the Centrale Station. The hotel has a trendy bar/restaurant tucked away in the back, and there are several nice cafes and restaurants nearby as well. As noted, it is very close to the main train station, and I believe the underground service begins at 6:00 am, and along with it a low rumbling for every train (didn't notice it at night as we weren't back until very late). Not an issue for me, but light sleepers might be put off by it. Will most likely stay here again for my next visit to Milan.
