The hotel is located at walking distance from the main train station and Piazza Repubblica + Quartiere della Moda.
Rooms are clean and comfortable. Forniture is quite out-dated, but ok.
Generous breakfast for pastry lovers - not so furnished for gluten intolerant people.
Staff at your disposal at the reception for any need.
I recommend the hotel.

Picked the hotel from the internet as it was near to the train station (for buses to and from Malpensa). Despite being near the main station and in a business area the surroundings are reasonable with decent cafes and restaurants open at weekends. A metro station is 2 minutes away giving easy access to the main historic centre. Hotel is fine and reasonably priced for a 4 star. Rooms not overly big but as you only need them to sleep in not an issue. We arrived before mid-day but they had rooms ready and so we could leave our stuff in our rooms. Unexpected "local taxes" when we checked out.

In booking this hotel our primary criteria was availability of wifi. While it was free it was available for only two hours and we needed to get down for another password. Wifi did not work in the room. The first day we were told system was down. The second day there was no change either and we were told that they will look into it tomorrow. Too late we only stayed two nights.
Our room was stifling hot, when queried how to turn air conditioner on we're told that in Italy no hotels have air conditioning before June. Hard to believe that as we have just come from other hotel where air conditioning was available.
Eventually after inspecting the room staff advised that the heating was on, but they don't know how to turn it off. Not good enough.
Other than this inconvenience which has impacted on our enjoyment, the hotel is nice, rooms clean and staff very helpful but unable to resolve our issue.

Stayed here with a friend just a couple of nights ago.
The positive things about this hotel are the location (very close to Milano Centrale) and the breakfast.

However, the negative here easily overshadows the positive.

For once, Wi-Fi doesn't work in the rooms, despite them advertising to the contrary. After trying four (!) different devices, failing each and every single one of them, my friend went to the front desk to seek some help on the matter. The night shift receptionist behaved rather rudely, almost completely ignoring the problem as well as my friend.

Then, the receptionist mentioned that Wi-Fi is known to not be "always working" in the rooms. Which begs the question: if it's a known problem, why isn't it fixed?

The next morning, you could see a bunch of people sitting in the lobby with their mobile devices. None of them got Wi-Fi working in their rooms.

Next up, air conditioning. The hotel advertises itself for having air conditioning in the room. What they neglect to mention is that cooling season starts in June: before June, only heat is available. Therefore, if you are very sensitive to hot weather and happen to arrive before June when weather is somewhat warm, you're well out of luck.

As I am not a big fan of hotels providing misleading information about their facilities, I strongly advise against staying in this hotel.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Marconi in March 2013 (during Easter) and I chose the hotel as we stayed there 10 years ago and I thought it would be fun to go down memory lane. I booked the room online on the hotel website and on average it was 100€ per night including breakfast but note that you also have to pay a few Euros in tourist or city tax.

Check in was fast and we got room 607. The room was pretty standard upon entry – a dark wooden floor with walls in a two tone yellowish color. The bed had a golden bed spread that look exclusive but the bed itself was a bit on the firm side but still it provided pretty good sleeping comfort. The décor in the room was pretty old school with a lavish bedpost, dark wooden wardrobe and an old desk. The TV was really old school as it was not a flat screen but an old tube TV. It had quite a few channels but the TV was a bit temperamental and we had some difficulties turning it on and changing channels – and the digital clock on the TV seemed to run too slow when the TV was of! (just as a weird fun fact). There was a small fridge with some soda and drinks in it and a small safe in the wardrobe. We had a decent view from the room but as the last time we also had a view to the church bell tower and that means that you can also hear the bells toll.

The bathroom was tiled in a reddish marble finish and contained a shower corner in addition to the toilet, bide and sink. There were not that many amenities and we just used soap that we brought along. The shower corner looked good to start off with but in use it had some flaws. The water would splash out on the floor which is always annoying and the drain did not seem to be able to keep up with the water that came out of the shower head. It also had a bad functionality for controlling if you wanted the water out of the handheld shower head or the main shower head. There were also signs of wear and tear on other parts of the bathroom – e.g. the toilet seat.

There is some sort of ventilation in the room and I tried to turn down the temperature but the fan stopped. So I think the conclusion is that the room does not have an aircon so if you want the room cooler and want fresh air you need to open a window. The hotel offers free wifi that worked very well – once logged in you stayed logged in and the password worked on several devices.

The walls of the hotel are not very sound proof to say the least and we could easily hear people talking in the neighboring room, taking a shower etc. So I would hate to stay at this hotel and end up in a room next to someone that is having an all-night argument.

Breakfast is just OK – the breakfast room is located on the ground floor and it did not seem to be large enough to handle all the guests. We saw people standing around waiting for a table and the staff was running to keep up with clearing the tables, refilling croissants and juice and to take orders for coffee (all done by two ladies). The breakfast was pretty simple with a bit of bread and croissants, some cereal, some ham, some juice and some fruit.

The location of the hotel is good as it only takes a couple of minutes to walk to Repubblica metro station and it is only 3 stops to Duomo on the M3. You can also walk to Milan central station and that can be convenient if you are catching a train to other cities in the region (it only takes a bit over an hour to get to Parma). There are also lots of restaurants within walking distance.

Conclusion
All in all this is not a bad hotel –the room is pretty standard and the bed gave good sleeping comfort even if it was quite firm. The location is very good as you can easily get around on the subway and it is close to the train station. Breakfast is not very impressive and thin walls could potential lead to annoying situations when trying to get a good night sleep.

More like a 3 star Hotel to me although there's a big lobby but breakfast area is small and counter rundown.
1) Counter staffs - Some are very friendly and helpful, but some are just typical Italian rude and unfriendly. But anyway after travelling 10 years in Italy I didn't really met any friendly hotel staff especially Italian
2) Room is small but clean
3) Breakfast was standard
4) Location is near to Metro station and 10 mins walk from train station
5) Price - consider average during the fair period, although I pay for Euro 300 per day, I got free breakfast and wifi consider that I book only in March and fair was April.

We arrived very late, so I phoned in advance to confirm and the lady at the reception was so lovely over the phone I knew it would be a great stay and it was! Very good-looking entrance, interesting lifts (elevators) and a perfectly fitted room with embroided sheets and a huge rainfall shower that was all spotlessly clean.
We were in 504 on the street side so you can hear the old tram that storms down the street, but it's not very loud unless you're very sensitive to noise and that will mean you will definitely hear people in other rooms and walking in the hallway, but it was rather indistinct and didn't bother us at all.
Breakfast is fantastic as everyone says: fresh orange juice, cakes, pastries, bread, fruit, cheese, ham, eggs and bacon... and again the staff is absolutely lovely serving you tea, coffee, expressos and delicious cappuccino's!
At a stone's throw away from the train station I definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: Maybe people who are very sensitive to noise should consider always traveling with earplugs!
