“good location for sightseeing but hotel needs an update”
Reviewed 27 September 2010

The hotel is very well situated to see most of the main sites of Milan, it is just around the corner from Leonardos Last Supper (make sure you book well in advance if you want to see it, this can be done on line), It is also a fairly easy walk to the Castle and the Duomo. In addition it is 10 minute walk to Cadorna station where the underground system is easy to use.
On arrival we were greeted in a rather surly manner, a characteristic noted by other reviewers. Its not that the reception staff were unhelpful they just did not seem to be enjoying their jobs. To be fair the hotel is not expensive given its location however the rooms were basic and needed a serious update, the bathrooms were particularly small, I am reasonably slim but could not bend down in the shower when I dropped the soap which a bit of a bore. The walls were very thin but worst of all the bedroom was located above the breakfast room and there was no soundproofing to the floor so as soon as breakfast started we were woken up. The hotel did not really have any services that we could find, the bar was always closed when we wanted a drink. Breakfast was a bit better than my recent trip to Greece, bread, ham not spam, salami, cheese, fruit jam, but coffee was horrible.
We ate out and enjoyed going to the Navigli area were there is a range of diffrent bars and restaurants and the Brera district which is more expensive, we liked the Ristorante Nabucco. People were very friendly and we found Milan to be a very safe environment.
The hotel was just about OK for a four day sightseeing trip.

Stayed at this hotel during a business trip so had no choice. Receptionists at the front desk (all men) are very rude, very impatient, and very unprofessional. Don't even ask them questions - everything seemed to be a bother for them even when we started the conversation with a nice "buon giorno". My colleagues and I got a feeling that they are just so fed up with their jobs and they don't even want to be there to face the customers! They are certainly not those nice, friendly Italian fellas you bumped into on the street.

The whole hotel is old and outdated. The rooms are ugly, basic and in dire need of renovation, but fortunately it's clean. My single room is like a box, and my colleages' double rooms are about double the size of my room. Still, the fixtures and furniture are all very oudate. My colleagues laughed about the size of the shower stall - if you drop the soap, you have to leave the shower in order to pick it up - that' s how small the shower stall is!! The only toiletries we got are two mini soaps and one "sachet" of shampoo, and they only give me one extra soap throughout my 4-nights stay!! The beds are extremely firm. All of us had difficulty to sleep. No in-room control for the airconditioning. The bed side lamp looks so last centuary - I really don't know how to describe the oddness of the lamp! So is the in-room safe - there isn't any digital control panel but only those old style knobs which you have to punch and turn. Rooms share balconies, which means that someone next door can come right over to knock on your window!! That's absolutely freaky and I needed to make sure that the curtain was closed at all time.

Breakfasts were equally bad. Some cold and hot food items but all were not very appealing. Frutis were either bruised or nearly off.

The only good thing about this hotel is its proximity to the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie where Da Vinci's Last Supper can be found. The church is virtually across the street.

Even so, I wouldn't recommend anyone to stay there.

I stayed here on recommendation of friend. Rooms are basic but with sufficient room and free breakfast. At Euro 69 p.n., I think its great value in Milan. It is close to metro station which is two stops from Duomo. Also near the Stz Nord train station which is convenient to take train to Lake Como or Armani Outlet. Best of all it is around the corner from Chocolate, which I consider has the best gelato in Italy!!

This is not a standard, commercial hotel. It is uniquely configured around a large courtyard, with rooms facing both inwards and outwards. Its main function seems to be a congress centre, and is frequently busy doing that. The reception staff are efficient but aloof. It charges 5euros per hour for internet wifi! But this was the third time my wife and I have stayed there and it still seems attractive to us. This time we had a room (standard price) that was a mini-suite, with a sitting/working area and semi-detached bedroom. The bathrooms are small - planned by a dwarf architect it seems - and now looking a bit tired. They need modernising and enlarging. Conveniently located (especially for Malpensa Express train to/from Cadorno station, 5 minutes walk away) - not in the centre, but with bars, restaurants and shops nearby.

Pros:
Hotel in a nice area of Milan, very close to Santa Maria delle Grazie's church. Clean and good sized room, decent breakfast (a part from the coffee/cappuccino, made with a self-service machine similar to those you may find in some offices).

The cons:
- rooms and hotel with absolutely no character, avoid the hotel if you are in Milan for a romantic weekend!
- staff look annoyed all the time and although polite they certainly are not the ones ready to go the extra-mile for the client
- wireless not free (and to get login and password you have to go down to reception and sign a paper, no exceptions even if it is midnight and you already wearing a pyjama...)

I would recommend the hotel only to people going to Milan for business and for whom hotel's location is convenient.

I stayed at the Hotel Palazzo delle Stelline in May this year with 5 members of my family.

Whilst it is true this hotel does have a sterile feeling to it as it is part of a conference centre, we found however our overnight stay here to be perfectly ok.

Our rooms were all huge compared to other Italian hotels we have stayed in and very clean. The hotel is two minutes from the Last Supper which is why we stayed here as we had an early viewing.

We did not use the hotel bar so I can comment on this but the breakfast we had was nice and there was plenty of choice. The staff were very pleasant and for the price we paid we felt that the hotel offered good value.

I wouldnt recommend this hotel if you are looking for a weeks holiday or a romantic weekend but if you are looking for somewhere reasonably priced in the city centre for an overnight stay then we found this hotel ok.

This hotel sits right across the street from the Santa Maria Delle Grazie church, in the center of old Milan, convenient to many sightseeing sites. The rooms are clean, nicely appointed, and reasonably large. However, the hotel's atmosphere is sterile and the staff is far from friendly - aloof at best, disdainful to hostile at worst. I stayed two nights and then left for another hotel with a friendlier attitude.
