“Top-notch hotel in central Milan”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2012

Cannot believe some of the reviews of this hotel. This hotel is new, modern, clean and elegant. Beds very comfortable (we had a slightly larger deluxe room), air conditoning very efficient. Staff very courteous, check-in easy and swift.

Yes, some of the staff speaks English with an accent, but that should be no big problem.

Yes, the garage was full when we came, but we got very clear directions to the parking garage a block and a half away. What would be the problem with that?

Yes, the hotel is not located next door to Duomo, but a ten minute walk or a two-stop journey with the tram, what is the problem with that?

You could stay even closer to the city center, but I doubt you would find a value as good as this hotel.

The hotel has nice rooms but is located quite far away from the centre of Milan. It is a 10 minute plus walk to the Duomo.

The hotel while being rated as four stars has a few annoying practices. These include no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. When we enquired about this, the staff advised that they only had 5 kettles and none were available at that time.
No irons or ironing boards could be provided. There was no way of getting clothes ironed other than their inhouse laundry which has limited operating hours and would cost a fair bit.
The king sized bed requested turned out to be two single beds joined together.
To get an adapter we had to pay a deposit of 5 Euros.
Almost all the TV channels were in Italian or other languages, apart from some news channels.
We are frequent travellers all over the world and found these practices very annoying. This is not a cheap hotel or a youth hostel, I am therefore not sure why they insist on such practices to generate more revenue for themselves.
On a positive note, the breakfast was very nice and the rooms were spacious.
My suggestion is to avoid this hotel if you can.

Room Tip: Deluxe Rooms are nice

Overall a really pleasant stay. We were here for 3 nights with my parents in law. We used the metro regularly which was great. The hotel itself was a little mixed. The rooms were lovely, modern, clean and quiet. The bed was very comfortable and the curtains were black out so we slept really well. Breakfast was nice too with a good selection of fruit, yoghurt, cereals and cooked food. There were lots of nice touches such as chocolates with the turndown service as well as slippers laid out for you. We had drinks in the hotel bar every day and they were about average prices for Milan. The bell boys were great as were the bar staff.

So, for the down side! The reception service is poor. It took a long time to check in as they had lost the reservation for one room. When we checked in at the 2pm check in time only one room was ready. As everyone was tired, we went to the one room and were told by reception that it would be 5 minutes and they would bring the key to the second room up to us. It took around 45 minutes and three chase up calls to get access to our other room. We tried to call the concierge to book a restaurant and the reception desk answered and put the phone down on me. This happened twice.

In general, a good stay, but with closer management it could be much better.

Also - it is difficult to find out where you go for breakfast - especially given the above - and it isn't in the guest services book. It is on the 3rd floor by the way!

While you're there - just as a pointer - we had an amazing meal at Nuevo dieci - reasonably priced and great food!

This hotel is located not close to Duomo. It is quite a distance to walk especially during hot and humid summer days.

The modern and supposedly high tech features did look impressive until we had problems not caused by us but by lack of skilled staffs to encounter the problems.

When we checked in at 3 p.m., one of the trainee was assigned to take us to our room and to explain the amenities which is nice.

When we feel that the room was warm at night, we tried to adjust the temperature of the room but it turned out that the temperature is centrally controlled. The thermostat had 23C but it felt like 27C. After calling the Receptionist and spoke to them explaining the situation for 4 times, the temperature is still warm and the staffs kept on telling me that their system had the room temperature turned at 19C already. Since I was exhausted anyway, I gave up and we had to sleep uncomfortably the whole night.

The next morning, I had to explain again to the Receptionist staff about the temperature and they said it will be reported and fixed on that day.

When we returned to the hotel, we stopped by the Receptionist and asked about the progress of the repair and the response was, "Did you check your room already?". When I asked if there is a note for us or whatsoever, the male staff told us "If we said it will be repaired, then it is repaired". Wow !!.

When we were going up to our room, the high tech room door did not work. So, after getting a new key, it still did not work. They finally gave up and gave us a conventional key to open the room. So much for high tech room key !.

At last, the room is cooler now and I could sleep comfortably.

Overall, the hotel is modern, clean and new which is great. However, most of the staffs did not speak English fluently. A few of them even sound harsh when talking to the customers including us.

The hotel housekeeping staffs did not use service elevator when servicing the room and they join us in the passengers elevator going up and down the floors. We also found a black garbage bag lying around in front of our room on our way out. I also have to agree with the other reviewer that we could hear noises from our room coming from the hallway.

In short, I don't think I would go back to this hotel if I go back to Milan.

This is a stylish and modern hotel where the management clearly understand their target audience. The staff are courteous and helpful and the rooms are immaculate. Great location.

Booked two rooms here with a group of friends which were of a very high quality, clean, modern, comfortable, awesome bathroom. The reception staff and door men could not have been more helpful to our every need, the hotel is walkable to the center and also Navigli district and there is a metro close by if needed.
My only slight disappointment is that we booked the deluxe room, and the impression we got from the website was that these rooms were on a higher floor with views over the city, however we were on the 2nd floor and had a view of another hotel. This wasn't a huge problem for us as we weren't in the room much and the quality of the room was excellent, but felt slightly misled by the website.
also there is a black cord in the shower cubile that is only for emergencies, if you pull it you get a concerned call from reception, a very nice little touch but don't make the same mistake I did!
Would definitely return in the future

I booked this hotel based on reviews and prior to write my review I went back reading the reviews that prompted me to reserve and stay at this hotel.
My experience with this hotel was different:
1- upon arrival the staff could hardly speak English;
2- the registration process was lengthy - inefficient;
3- there was no parking space available at the hotel and was left to myself to go and park the car a few blocks away - a somewhat nonchalant attend;
4- the rooms are very small;
5- the sound barrier is inappropriate. We could hear noise from the corridor;
6- bedroom service was extremely slow. My room was done between 17:00 and 18:00.

Upon leaving I saw some improvement; the departure was efficient.

still I would not recommend this hotel. There are numerous better 4 star hotels in Milan and closer to the Duomo.
